There's been alot of changes in my life recently. One of which is that I am uprooting from Columbus, Ohio to somewhere in Southern California due to the day job. That plus a few other major changes is requiring some... Continue reading
Happy Earth Day to all! My workplace is running Green Week and I thought I would share some of the activities they have going on, They issued tumblers to everyone in a bid to reduce the use of disposable cups and bottles. The tumblers were made in the US and manufactured using solar power. Meeting coordinators stopped ordering drinks for meetings and instead use carafes filled with water for meetings. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own cups/tumblers. We have food trucks that come to the office building and this week, one of Columbus’ Organic Food Trucks: The Pickled Swine... I am still in disbelief at times, at the fact that having grown up in Singapore, I was never exposed to Dr Seuss books. It was only until I became a mom here in the US that the empire of Seuss literature was introduced to me and I understood how integrated they were into the early education experience for kids here in America. Once I started reading his books, it was apparent why they are well-loved by both kids and grown-ups. The signature illustrations, the play on words and rhymes, the varied topics and equally varied intensity of theme across... Continue reading

Blick Art’s Art Room Aid is a program that seeks to, and is helping teachers across the country enlist the aid of parents, families, friends, and other art advocates to fund their art projects and keep creative learning going. I am currently working with both girls' teachers to use this helpful service to garner support for two art projects they would like to do. For the 4-year-old's teacher, Ms Stephanie, we started Project 1 John 4:7. It reads, Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.... I am looking forward to the partnership between The Productive Mom and Blick Art as well as both my daughter’s art teachers to promote the Blick Art Art Room Aid initiative. As most of you would have heard through the news or through personal experience at your kids’ schools, a lot of schools or arts programs catering to education program are struggling to keep their art programs alive. This is where Blick Art’s Art Room Aid can help! It is a program that seeks to, and is helping teachers across the country enlist the aid of parents, families, friends, and... Continue reading

This year, Christmas was quite relaxing but I still found myself pulling stuff together last minute, short of things to do with the kids during the long holiday break, and spending a little too much on gifts or food items during this season. So I thought it might be good to note some of the things I would like to do better for Christmas 2013, while things are still fresh in my mind. 1) Holiday Cards In 2012: I sent holiday cards late and only to those who sent us cards this year. I have mailed cards to a mailing... Continue reading

As a mom trying to keep up with the memory-keeping responsibilities for the family, I have found a few apps that have helped me stay on top of photos we take. One of the apps that I use religiously is a photo collage app called PicFrame. WHY DO I LOVE PICFRAME? I love the fact that it is on my mobile phone, the same phone whose camera functionality is used by me to take all sorts of photos. Love the integration with Dropbox. For a Project Lifer, this means that I can collage my photos on the road/in line/during most... Continue reading

Yesterday I shared my One Little Word for 2013. I am going to need all the help I can get to living it. Inspired by The Unclutterer's Five Things You Can Do to Succeed at Keeping Your New Year's Resolution. Thank you Pinterest pals for helping this momma out with planning kids' school lunches. Going to try out some of the ideas noted here in Apartment Therapy's 10 Simple Things to Make You Happier at Home. #7 and #10 are really speaking to me. Continue reading

My One Little Word for 2013 is FOCUS. And I found this quote by Les Brown particularly inspiring. The "greatness" bit does not speak to me in a self-righteous or "me being great" sense but more that if you have a big goal ahead of you, that it is worth staying focused because the journey to this great goal will likely be ladened with obstacles and distractions. I've really enjoyed having a little word to guide me in 2012 especially since it has had such a positive influence on how I approached alot of things in 2012. I am truly... Continue reading

Yet another busy day - long day at the office, then rushed home to put dinner together while some windows guys came by to do their presentation and provide an estimate which ran an hour. Then I took the girls to Everal Barn and Homestead as the Westerville Recreation Center had transformed the barn for a kid-friendly event. Apparently this event is on its 28th year and seemed to be heavily volunteer-supported <= Love this. More to come but this is what I had the energy to put together this evening. Hope to update this soon - wish me luck... Continue reading

Thanks for stopping by! I visited your December Daily too and loved the overlay you used today!
Hey Christina, Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comment!
Hey Sarah, yes it is an 8 X 8 album. One of the We R Memory Keepers options available at Target. The little cameras are washi tape and I love them! Thanks for stopping by. Grace
TODAY was definitely one of those “routine” days where school/work/life just ran on auto-pilot and the next thing I knew, it was bedtime. Where did the day go? TODAY is Wednesday. And on Wednesdays in the Hester household, the girls get to sleep in our bed and it’s been the tradition for the longest time. They look forward to this day and they know that other days of the week, the bed is off-limits. TODAY I am thankful that December Daily is what you make of it and that despite the fact that I did not get a chance to... Continue reading

It's been a long day so I am just going to post the photos from Day 4's pages and come back later to update the post with more details. :-) Two-page spread: My four-year-old had her Christmas Program this evening so I laid out four photos I wanted, fit them into a collage. Journaling: ' The cameras are washi tape and the journaling templates I designed before the start of December Daily have been great. I designed them so that I could just type running text and print. A total #ProductivityWin. The two sidebar panels: I used a the Pinned... Continue reading

I did two 4 X 6 cards today. Someone's not doing so good keeping to self-imposed rules but I think this is one of those things where the more the merrier? *cheese* On the left page right under Day 2's entry, I listed my favourite Christmas Classic songs as well as a few from recent times. I used washi tape with some music notes to tie into the "song" topic and added some dimensional snowflakes for some color. The side panel is just made from paper with some raised dots - I ran my white stamp pad over the dots... Continue reading

As a result of having too much fun cleaning on Saturday, and my body needing to recover from the past few weeks, we had a really low-key Sunday. I even slept in till 9:40 AM! Whaaaattt? That's just crazy talk right? I did get a chance to go through some magazines and pull out idea pages for my inspiration binder so it's nice to get rid of that small stack of magazines building up in the corner. Our live tree is up and half-decorated and I hope to be able to complete the decorating tomorrow evening. But I've had this... Continue reading
