"Honestly, does anyone really believe Fox or MSNBC is fair and balanced?"
Depends on what we're talking about. Fox News' reporting is about as fair and balanced as it comes. I have no idea what the political leanings are amongst Fox's news anchors. From 4:00-5:00 and after 7:00 p.m. (CST) things are different. Those shows are not promoted as news programs, and instead are hosted by people who express their opinions.
You get to the networks, and then we see bias in action. For example, one morning I saw George Stephanopolous on GMA in an exchange with reporter Claire Shipman. Stephanopolous, of course, was a political operative with the Clinton campaign and administration. Shipman is married to Jay Carney, formerly of Time magazine. Carney now serves as director of communications to Joe Biden. ABC News also has Christiane Amanpour as its host of "This Week." Amanpour is married to James Rubin, a former Assistant Secretary of State and spokesman for the US State Department during the Clinton administration and currently an informal adviser to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama.
We're get our news from ABC News from former Democrat Party operatives or those married to current Democrat Party operatives. Is it any wonder that that news is so slanted in favor of the Democrat Party?
Loving Fox News
Quite often there’s a letter on the opinion page of The Star advising the public to stop looking at Fox News because the programs are full of untruths and we’re being misinformed. I watch Fox News because it is fair and balanced and I can decide whether to accept such as fact or fiction. We’re...
"I’m voting for Robin Carnahan and I hope my friends, who know my own political background and experience, will join me in doing so." - Lee Gray
Never heard of you. Doesn't sound like there are many who do, so few will be joining you.
Carnahan for Senate
In reviewing the U.S. Senate race in Missouri it has been easy for me to make a decision. I’ve known both candidates: Roy Blunt from when he was Missouri Secretary of State many years ago, and Robin Carnahan as Missouri Secretary of State now. Both did admirable jobs in that office, but Robin Ca...

Moore for Congress
I can’t believe The Star didn’t endorse Stephene Moore for Congress (10/17, Editorial, “Recommendations for top Kansas elected offices”). So, the editorial board prefers a career politician over a women with great life experience? Do you know about Mrs. Moore’s experience with the Medical Missi...

No, I have more than that. However, I save the heavy artillery for those with mental capacities above that of an amoeba.
Democratic vote
With the amazing rise of the tea parties on Tuesdays, they now become a formidable undercover Republican adversary and high risk for a November explosion. Democrats, we don’t want Republicans to take over the Congress and regress us back to the stone-age George W. Bush years. Most of us have b...

Tax break for rich?
We've had tax relief for the wealthy for several years now. The trickle down effect is not working for our economy. Where are the jobs created by the wealthy? The middle class is exhausting its reserves and retirement reserves. This is the class that creates small businesses. The middle class ...
The tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 were followed by 52 straight months of job growth, which was a record. The job growth ended when the housing bubble burst. The was the result of Democrat policies.
Jobs from tax cuts for wealthy? Where?
The Republicans say the temporary tax cuts they legislated for the very wealthy should not be allowed to expire. Their thinking is their very wealthy constituents need the money to create jobs. Those tax cuts have been in place since 2001. So where are the jobs? Richard A. Hathaway Olathe
If Alexis would do a little research, she would find that Democrats in Congress are, on average, wealthier than Republicans. Also, a little research would find that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts were followed by 52 straight months of job creation, which was a record. The job creation ended with the bursting of the housing market bubble, which, of course, was the result of Democrat policies.

Edited DD Presidential flimflam Ronald Reagan did it, and both Bush presidents followed along: courting working, white males through false promises to get them to believe the GOP cared about them. Thus the failed trickle down theory. Working Americans coveted the wealth yet were never meant to b...

I very strongly suspect that you are the only one here who engages in actual teabagging.
Backward tea parties
The tea partiers and ultraconservative types running around shouting “take our country back” might consider this quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower from Sept. 19, 1956: “We cannot face the future simply by walking into the past backwards.” Robert A. Eberle Kansas City
whispering:
How many white people were at Al Sharpton's rally? How many white people attend Jeremiah Wright's church?
Taibbi is a dishonest journalist, so I wouldn't put much stock in what he writes.

"Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington is an independent watch dog agency..."
That's nonsense. CREW was started by George Soros.
Carnahan for Senate
I have been an interested observer in the Missouri U.S. Senate election this year between Robin Carnahan and Roy Blunt. It is obvious that there is great enthusiasm in the Robin Carnahan camp. Supporters seem organized, determined and positive about this race. At the events she gets to know eve...
I know the letter writer. He's a huge jerk. He has a publication and was putting his on top of one of mine. I called and politely asked his wife to be more careful, and then he left me a threatening voicemail. I meet the shrimp in person a few months later and he sure acted sheepish then. Given his dubious character, I can guarantee that he is lying when he says he knows tea party folks who are voting for Carnahan.

America’s precious honor

I haven't forgot the 5 percent unemployment, much smaller deficits, and a president who loved his country.
GOP hard to forget
How could the Republicans, in their wildest imagination, think we have forgotten the eight years prior to Barack Obama taking office? Ronald T. Craddolph Sr. Blue Springs
Can the two moonbats who wrote these letters tell us exactly which government entity is working to stop the construction of the WTC mosque?
New York, ground zero
If you are a true American, you believe in our freedom of religion. Whether or not it’s the right thing to do, no one — especially our government — should tell American Muslims they can’t build their mosque at ground zero. Because our president believes in this freedom, he is once again the tar...

The Clinton administration left office in January 2001 still claiming that Saddam had WMD and, therefore, was a "clear and present danger at all times," i.e., an imminent threat.

"But listening will teach them that disrespecting someone with whom they don’t agree shows ignorance and a lack of education."
Has this moonbat from Lee's Summit been listening to the disrespectful rhetoric the man-child Obama uses against Republicans? Is Obama ignorant?
Respect president for speaking to schools
Here we go again. On Tuesday, President Barack Obama delivered his back-to-school message in a speech to students, and again parents had the option of not letting their children go, just as was done in this area last year. Now I will admit I cried when George W. Bush was elected president. I di...

I suspect that Joe has never served in the military. If he were to speak to those who served in Iraq, he would find that the vast majority of them are proud of what was accomplished there.

Who in their right mind wears an Obama T-shirt in September 2010. You might as well wear a T-shirt that reads, "I'M AN IDIOT."
Obama T-shirt conflict
I was grocery shopping in Lee’s Summit. As I was talking with another lady, her husband came up. When I turned to leave, he said I could get shot for wearing the T-shirt I had on, which had a picture of President Barack Obama. The man went on to say the country was in the pits because of Obama...

End tax cuts on rich
Unlike a letter writer from Sept. 1 who offers rhetoric to denounce Robert Reich while contending that it is history, here is some actual history. President Bill Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy. This led to a decade of economic growth and even a surplus when President Clinton left office. ...
