It's been a long time coming, duder. Welcome back!
Treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home.
In 2001, blogs were very new things. In fact, as much more time was spent arguing talking about what blogs even were, and where they fit into the media landscape than was spent actually, you know, writing in them. In fact, I don't even think the word "blogging" existed back then, and whenever it...
The CEO had every right to express his opinion ... and his customers have every right to buy their chicken sandwiches somewhere that doesn't support such things. Freedom of speech is not without its repercussions -- you can't say whatever you want and expect everyone to get along with you. This free speech defense malarky is a poor excuse for Chick-Fil-A. :(
Setting aside anger for something that I hope is a little more kind. (Or: when I break my own law)
A few days ago, I Twittered: "I can't stop laughing at the bigots who celebrated their solidarity with each other by gorging themselves on shitty fast food. Bravo, jerks." I still think it's silly that eating at a fast food restaurant is considered political activism today, but that's not what t...
It isn't even yellow! :P
Seems legit...
I was driving around Burbank today, and went past this Cash Cab: Seems legit.
Grilled asparagus = amazeballs
Wil's Yummy Asparagus
My contribution to dinner tonight was some yummy asparagus, it totally didn't suck, so I wanted to share the simple steps to create it with the Internet: Wil's Yummy Asparagus 1. Get some asparagus. 2. Wash it off. 3. Cut Snap off the bottoms where it's all fibrous and gross. 4. Put about 2 inch...
As someone who has only fleeting chunks of time to devote to gaming (a favorite and nostalgia-inducing pastime of mine) -- and someone who has recently purchased and begun to play Diablo 3 -- I feel you, sir. I've got a lv12 Witch Doctor named ShakaZulu who lobs leaping corpse spiders with the quickness.
Here's hoping we both get some time in the near future to keep the dream world alive!
in which diablo 3 is played with my son
Today, I'll wrap production on the latest series of audio books I've been doing. It's been ten long days, and though I genuinely adore the people I'm working with, I'll be happy when I get to the last word on the last page, because... I'm going to start work on a different and awesome project on...
I second Adam's Kickstarter comment.
"you are hearing me talk"
I'm working on an audiobook -- actually, a series of five audiobooks -- for the next two weeks. I don't know if I can say what it is, but I think it's safe to reveal that it's a classic fantasy series from the 80s, and I'm actually quite surprised it isn't already available in audio. I really li...
Penis.
Penis?
Penis.
I spent way too much time on this.
So this incredibly entertaining bit of spam arrived in my inbox last night: I just want to thank Nash Morton (who I'm sure owns a yacht, wears the finest silk shirts and only the fanciest of pants) for giving my e-mail address to his friend, who is so concerned about how many wild runnings I m...
Duuuuuuude... shit yes. I've been getting seriously into Lovecraft's stories (though I've always been pretty interested in/fascinated with the Cthulhu Mythos). You can get damn near all of them available for free due to their public domain status, and so far, not one of them has disappointed me (short stories and all).
If you're headed in that direction for a piece in the near future, then I tingle with excitement, sir. (If not, then damn you to hell for being a novella-tease. ;))
If I say that my somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature, I shall not be unfaithful to the spirit of the thing.
Since I started tabletop gaming mumblecough years ago, I've always found storytelling inspiration from the RPGs. From designing my character and developing his back story, to building a world and populating it with allies and adversaries, the games I've played have lived on in my imagination lon...
Give me Chromium or give me death!
Good luck, Wil. Knock 'em dead.
in which i have an audition for a feature this afternoon
I composed a post in Firefox all about how I have this awesome audition this afternoon. Then, when I tried to publish it, Firefox hung for ten minutes before it crashed. I've been spoiled by stability, so I didn't do the ctl-c that was so pretty much automatic a few years ago... so here's the tl...
Speaking of which, I totally slept through my alarm this morning, thinking it was Sunday. I wound up calling in to work a half hour late to let them know I was on my way as I threw on pants and a collared shirt; damn research paper has been affecting my perception of reality as of late, it would seem.
Glad to hear you had an awesome time at the Con! I'm also pleased to see that you take your time with your fans seriously; that's a refreshing change of pace.
FedCon Day 4
I don't drink at cons. I mean, I'll have a beer or maybe a glass of wine with dinner, but I don't go out drinking the way young people go out drinking, even though I usually see people I love and it would be a lot of fun to go out to a pub for some pints. I figure that I'm already pushing my bod...
"Instant concoct" sounds like a bitchin' D&D feat for a potion maker. :D Have a blast in Germany!!
In which Wil goes to Germany (updated)
The following was written about ten hours ago, on another continent. I thought I'd published it before I left, but it turns out I saved it as a draft, instead. Good times. I'm sitting in the lounge at LAX, waiting to board my flight to Heathrow. Sometime tomorrow afternoon, I'll end up in Germany...
