Have a lovely Holiday Wil, I was just thinking about listening to some old Radio Free Burrito.
Do you think you will return to doing those some day ?
Doctor Manhattan and Galactus, together at last.
After months away from home (with occasional 12-24 hour visits), I'm finally in my own house, enjoying something resembling a summer vacation. I'm not too keen on doing anything that isn't goofing off, and I'm really okay with that, because I think I've earned it. Until I feel recharged enough t...
So not alone in that feeling Wil.
My dog is the driving force that gets me out of my Sarlac Pit of a bed every morning.

The alarm went off at 7 this morning. Though I was asleep around 11 last night, the jolt of misery that shot through my body as I reached over to turn it off confirmed -- again -- that I am not a Morning Person. I slowly opened my eyes, and saw that Anne had already gotten out of bed. In her pla...
Really powerful writing as always Wil, I always feel the emotion in your writing style.
We lost someone in a similar way back when we all started out on the open mike circuit and always leave one drink on the table when we meet up.
That sense of Joy and sadness always conflicts me when we set that glass of jack down.

I stood in the lobby of the Falcon Theater in Toluca Lake, and looked at Twitter while I waited for the rest of the guys to arrive. The walls were covered with posters from productions like CHiPs: The Musical and It's A Stevie Wonderful Life. Being in a theater during the day, when it's just a b...

I cannot strongly enough reccomend getting the audio book of it from his online store Harvey the emotion in the reading is so uplifting and times and wrenching at others.
I intend to get the days of our lives audio book next which from what you have said in your review about parents/man etc may be an excellent listen for you.

Very much in agreement Chris, the differences in reactions today have further clarified to my mind who was being a dick here.
Wil apologised to the stream and hosted this article, gamepolitics when tweeted directly to them and Wil by HalHalpin saying he had shot Wil an emailing to clarify the status between ECA and gamepolitics felt the need to retweet it.
Why ?
It seemed a little NER NER to me, I think whomever is on the other end of that keyboard just has a problem with context and tone.
It struck me as a strange thing to do anyway with no gain.

Last night, I was supposed to perform in the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo with a bunch of my friends, and a bunch of people who I really admire. Unfortunately, the sinus infection I was fighting all week had other plans, so I stayed home and rested on the couch with a screening of Repo Man....
Wil,
As I tweeted to you I feel your reaction was in context, at no point did it come across as a "dont you know who I am Hollywood rant".
It came across as what it was, a guy who works pretty damn hard for us geeks feeling hurt by a comment that made out that did not happen at all.
I dont think you saw some of the outcry on the internet for people totally onboard with you.
Stepto wrote a really nice blog about it instantly - http://www.stepto.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?List=47972f52-f025-4805-bea4-f515e4269a3a&ID=626
And the wailing and gnashing of teeth was well waily and gnashy by a lot of the people who realise what you do, often for free for the community !
If anything I thought Gamerpolitics had made the comment themselves without reading it first and thinking about the tone it came across in.
I was pretty annoyed at the time and told them as much via feed.
phew long comment, summary - you didnt over act, you came across as offended rightly so and quite rightly called them on it with a direct challenge.
Good for you.

bumper stickers for proud gamermoms and gamerdads
I wonder if the current generation of about-to-be-born geeklings will appreciate how awesome it is to have geekmoms and geekdads? Zero Lives says: My son Dean is going to be out of beta in just over 3 months and I've got some preparing to do. I've never understood why parent stick the crap bumpe...
He mentioned in his last Rhettro he is desperate to do one but is being pulled in twelvety different directions by projects.
I await the next too.
side note if anyone hasnt I cannot reccomend highly enough the just a geek audio book from LULU the star trek tour had me in tears.
The sheer emotion in that sections reading left me emotionally drained, in a good way.
It was one of the best audio books I ever got ranked with hitchhikers and the hobbit bbc audio books.
such a roller coaster.
If any RFB addicts have not got that I reccomend it as a filler you get a lot of bang for your buck

That was beautiful Wil, really had me grinning.
Burrito yeah :) I think it is kind of understandable given your insane schedule though.
I would hope so to the RFB fans at least.

While browsing Reddit during my morning coffee, I came across this: I remember how much I liked writing this story for LA Daily, but until GenCon, I'd never read it in public. Both times I've read it, though, it's gone over very well, so I'll probably add it - at least temporarily - to my pe...

Yeah I just went back and re-read it (paranoia kicks in) and its pretty clear he isnt a seeker of knowledge here.
Our office is a pretty cool place to work and we all rib on each other all day its all in good fun.
From the Vault: there is more than one thing that makes us who we are
I'm bringing a limited-edition chapbook of gaming stories to GenCon, so Andrew and I have been digging through old entries and columns to put it together. This weekend he found and sent me the following old post, with the note: "Nothing to do with gaming, but it's REALLY short and I think we cou...
Josh,
I appreciate what your saying from one angle however as I stated it was done by him in a very school yard way.
Also the "W - IS that the guy you love on twitter"
Cleary is not said in the manner of someone of genuine interest.
I can see from how you have read it how we might appear as jerks, however thats why I added the schoolyard Identifier to indicate tone.

Nice post.
I got the funniest school yard name call at work today it went something like this.
For the ease of the text M will = me, W will = Wierdo.
W - "What are you listening to"
M - "Just A Geek, it is an audio book by Wil Wheaton"
W - "IS that the guy you love on twitter"
(I work in IT, fellow geeks around me pause to consider the wierdo, its like a geek trainwreck).
W - "Yeah you are always retweeting his stuff it is annoying"
M - "Okay So why are you following me still and why do you care"
W - "You love him dont you, who is he anyway"
M - "No I respect his work and like the writing style, Havent you ever seen Stand By Me, Gone to a convention or used the internet at all - You do know Sci-Fi and games right"
W - "I never heard of that film no"
At this point it was awesome as people chirped in with comments like, "You never heard of Stand By ME it is the classic coming of age film" and "have you even watched Star Wars"
(turns out he had not and the reason was at 24 he was too young to have seen the original trilogy)
I weep for the future, The questions at this point from everyone came thick and fast.
Do you read ?
Have you seen apocalypse now ?
Do you like computers ?
The end result was the best office tantrum and storm out I think I ever saw.
The last word from the guy who sat next to me as I turned the Iphone Back on and what prompted this share.
"Dont worry Andy, some people just dont Grok anything".
I hope that brought a smirk to your face Wil.
