I love my husband, but I can not in good faith call us happily married. Most day annoyingly married, frustratedly married, even tiresomely married, would be a better description. We do not walk around beaming at one another all day.... Continue reading

We've survived many lice infestation scares and never gotten it. I think lice feels the same about my family as you feel about them. Thanks for the post though, I'm itchy just reading it.

I had the same experience with my daughter. I finally gave up nap time when she was three. Some kids just don't need that much sleep, or just get it all at night. It's been my philosphy that all kids are not the same and trying to force them to be is a loosing battle.

This what be what they mean by "That's life in the big city". I hate that Nightmare on Elm Street poster too.

My Aunt and Uncle left the Catholic church several years ago for the same reasons and have found a happy home with the episcoples. You might try it and see if it is a fit for you and your family. At least then you could hang on to some of the tradition and beauty you like. My mother just told me Los Angeles is "inducting" two new Ep. bishops(I think) both women and ones gay. My terminology is probably wrong, as I am a complete heathen. Good Luck

It's funny I totally had the same reaction to this when I saw it. But really why do we think Breast milk cheese from people is bad, but breast milk cheese from cows and goat is fine. I mean really aren't people cleaner in general, and eat a better diet??? Elise

You are so right. I hate the show for the feminist issues it brings up. I didn't even think of how it would feel to not even be allowed to get married, because of it's "sanctity" and have to watch this sham. We should start a boycott.

Excellent point Sarah. As a side benefit, the kids can start bringing some cash in. The Pregnancy pact air tonight. Lucy-Glad you're enjoying LA Moms Blog. We're glad to have you.

It's a good movie to watch with your kids. If nothing else it paints a very unflattering picture of teen pregnancy and parenting. It's probably a good way to open that dialogue up too. Have fun with that.

Florinda- Thanks for the credit. I think on the mom height to baby weight chart you score an OH MY GOD! Amy-Ouch! My mother's ob/gyn who delivered my sister and I (in the 60's)says that doctors today don't do enough challenging deliveries to really know what to do, and he is infuriated how many women end up the way you did, including his own daughter in law. Sorry you had to go through that. Theta-I'm not grossed out. I'm talking post delivery pain. I don't think either method is simple, I just think at the end of a scheduled c-section you end up with more energy and less pain so you can go home and get to the business of raising your child, without having to fear your next bowel movement. Your suggestion of delivering in the woods is not bad if you're going natural. Once you're in a hospital they want you on your back and that's no way to push a baby out.

There is a silver lining to everything. Thanks April If you don't think you'll have fun at your cousins wedding don't go. If you're not close, they're probably just inviting you to be polite and you'll save them money on catering by rsvping no thanks. Sadly, I think you still have to send them a gift...

Sorry lady Blogher is in NY next year. Also sorry we were so light on tweets there was next to know reception in much of the conference area. A minor issue for a blogging conference. Also the Michelin man asked for your number, he was very disappointed about your absence. I hope it was OK to give it to him....

From the moment I heard they were having his memorial at the staple center I was appalled. Is this a funeral or a 3 ring circus. 3 ring circus I'm guessing. I wish this poor man had someone in his life to tell people in charge this is not how you have a funeral. They're just getting their last big bite out of their meal ticket. People should boycott it.

On this same topic, I always make sure to say to my daughter, if you decide to get married or if you decide to have children instead of when. I think too many girls are trained to think they all are suppose to get married and have children when really it isn't that mandatory.

You're so right. So many people come here to turn their children into stars but they never consider all the ramifications. Growing up here I went to school with many of the brat pack as well as a mirad of tv child actors, even if they don't get totally screwed up on drugs, they never have a normal social life, they never know who is their friend and who is just with them for their star factor. Not to mention their eradic education. Any kid in a commercial gets this odd treatment by their class mates. I stronmgly discourage anyone from putting their child in the spot light before they have reached at least a minimum of maturity (18).

Yikes! Thank god my daughter is 5 and I don't have to worry about this one for a while. I like to think I would support them sleeping together, but if I really didn't like the boy or girl she wanted to sleep with I might be less inclined to allow it. I think my husband would be ok with it but maybe he'll surprise me too. Sorry looks like I'm no help at all.

I love it!! You're a machine. I only wish I still needed diapers so I could have gotten in on it. OK I don't actually wish that, but you know what I mean... There's nothing like getting a good deal.

Spraying sunblock all over your room counts as a fun activity at my house. It's all in the framing.... Sure the dog is covered in scotch tape, but I folded the laundry.
