One of my friends, after getting your autograph at Gen Con, said, "he's so nice in real life, which is kind of weird since he always plays such douchey characters". So when I saw this post and specifically your use of "douchey", it made me smile.
Answering a FAQ: "Why do you play so many evil characters lately?"
Every actor has a particular type they can play well, for some reason or another. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with who we are in real life, but it's just what we do well. Example: Travolta is amazing as the Lovable Loser. When he's in Welcome Back Kotter and Saturday Night Fever i...
Oh man, that is lame (on the organizers' parts). Sorry, dude. Have a great time anyway!
Is it really only 2 days until GenCon? Yes. Yes it is.
On Wednesday, I'm heading to GenCon in Indianapolis. I had a great time when I was there before, and I'm looking forward to attending this year. Here's what you need to know, from GenCon: Wil will be signing autographs in the Autograph Area of the Exhibit Hall, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mo...
Maybe this should be obvious, but are going to be part of the Inside TableTop event/seminar with the other producers? The Gen Con page isn't very specific about it.

I hope Molly realizes that she's just encouraging your bad behavior!
When am I?
On Saturday, I texted my friend Molly: If you're here tomorrow, come over to my house for games and beer. She texted back: What time? Can Chris come? I replied: 6pm. Chris is always welcome at the Wheaton Secret Headquarters! Yesterday, while we were at my friend's house for his birthday dinner,...
Love the name and the label!
My brother started brewing a year or so ago and does not like being too detailed with the details. Trying to control it too much kind of ruins the fun for him.
Notes on the making of my Polymorph Porter
Monday night, I opened a bottle of the first porter I brewed. I took a picture for the Internets that looks something like this: (click image to embiggen at Imgur) It turned out much better than I expected, considering there was a near disaster when I brewed it. Read on if you want to hear a s...

Ah, so you were able to channel some of old Prove To Everyone into Dr. Parrish?
This was a really great episode. My favorite part was Parrish's maniacal gleam upon finishing the 100 cranes. You so nailed it!
Eureka: Of Mites and Men
In every rehearsal, when Parrish stands up to triumphantly announce that he's completed his 100 cranes, I did it in my best* Homer Simpson voice, like when he tries to fake out Apu with the lottery scratcher: "WOOO HOOO! ONE HUNDRED CRANES, BABY!" This episode was more fun to film than I thought...
Nicely played, sir.
It has been years since I've seen that episode, but I remember it fondly. I had almost forgotten the horrible game; I remember thinking it was the most terrible excuse for a mind sucking video game ever created and I could not believe anyone would even try it. Definitely a future Zynga product (spoken from one who has wasted his fare share of hours on crap FB games). What I remember most about the episode (besides Ashley Judd) was thinking, "Wow, they finally did a great Wesley story."
I am easily amused
So io9 did this thing called the 10 Suckiest Fake Video Games That People Play In Science Fiction. Spoiler Alert: The Game from, uh, The Game is number one. 1) Suckdisk from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Actually, we don’t remember this game having an actual name on the show, but “suckdisk” f...
You left Boneshaker off your audio resume.
You want to accept Anorak’s Invitation. Trust me.
I love narrating audiobooks, because it gives me a rare opportunity to combine my love of reading with my love of performing into something that hopefully entertains people, and gets the Bursar at Ryan's college off my back for another month. I did a few when I was much younger (Huck Finn, Tom S...
I've heard that reversing the polarity generally works.
on the delivery of technobabble
I was in three scenes yesterday, one of which contained a massive amount of technobabble. For those who don't know what that is: on a sci-fi show, technobabble is what we call pseudoscientific dialog like "I'll have to run a level four diagnostic on the antimatter inversion matrix to be sure." I...
I was one of the "these dice suck!" guys. What I didn't get to say was that, even though my dice have never rolled well for me, it was still really hard to give them up. Truthfully, it seems like all of my dice are against me, but I still don't want anyone getting their damn dirty hands on them!
Testing the theory that one can not have too many dice
Just before I went out to GenCon in August, I wrote: I have one request, which I hope isn't unreasonable: I'd like to test the theory that you can't have too many dice. If I see you at GenCon, would you give me one gaming die? I'll bring home as many as I get, dump them all on my office floor, ...
My wife and I are really looking forward to seeing you! Are you and/or The Guild going to have a booth, or are signings going to be around the talk/panel discussion?
From the Vault: there is more than one thing that makes us who we are
I'm bringing a limited-edition chapbook of gaming stories to GenCon, so Andrew and I have been digging through old entries and columns to put it together. This weekend he found and sent me the following old post, with the note: "Nothing to do with gaming, but it's REALLY short and I think we cou...
Since my office blocks Twitter, this seems like the best option for letting you know about this. Wesley makes an appearance on a Picard Day comic:
