As I have been thinking about wild rides this week, I’ve been thinking about all of the amusement park visits I have been on, all the rides I have ridden, all the places I have been. (Sounds a bit Dr. Seuss-like doesn’t it?) It got me to thinking – of all the rides I have been on, what do I consider to be the wildest and craziest to date? Continue reading

Sometimes food and amusement park rides just don’t mix. Just ask My Chandler. A number of years ago, we went with some friends to an amusement park that featured quite a few wild rides. The purpose of the visit was mainly to ride said wild rides. I discovered on that... Continue reading

There is a ride at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios that is crazy, wild and just a little bit insane. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened in 1994, but it took me until we went in 2000 before I would venture on this ride. Continue reading

As we’ve been planning a trip to an amusement park, I’ve been thinking about different wild rides that I have been on over the years. And there have been quite a few that have been fun, exhilarating and a little bit scary! There is a ride at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Florida that we originally had no plans to ride. But, it quickly became one of the best rides of that day! Continue reading

Last summer, while on vacation, I witnessed my two older girls going off to ride a roller coaster together. Alone. Without me or My Chandler. For me, it was kind of bittersweet to watch them enjoy something that I love. For My Chandler, it was a relief that he didn’t... Continue reading

One year, we decided to visit Disney World in August. In Florida. The hot days of summer in a hot locale. Did I mention that it was hot during this trip? We knew it would be hot, but we weren’t quite prepared for just how hot it was really going... Continue reading

Walt Disney World is already so magical, but when you combine the Disney magic with the magic of the Christmas holidays, it is even more magical. To read one of my other blog entries about Disney at Christmas, click here. But, even when it is not that time of year,... Continue reading

With the heat wave hitting the Northeast this past week and seeing recent advertising on television about Christmas in July, I started reminiscing about a trip we took when I was a little girl. I think I was maybe 4 or 5. It was summertime and it was hot. But,... Continue reading

Prince Edward Island is known for its mussels and its potatoes. And we helped their economy while we were there! Continue reading

Around the middle of the week, we needed to take a break from "All Things Anne" and decided to check out Prince Edward Island's largest amusement park. Continue reading

Our family is familiar with welcome centers when you enter a new state. It often coincides with a bathroom break during our travels. But the welcome center that beats all welcome centers is the one you encounter at the base of the Confederation Bridge right after you arrive on Prince... Continue reading

I’ve just spent a week talking about all the wonderful ways to immerse yourself in the Anne of Green Gables culture when you are on Prince Edward Island. But, there's more to this piece of the world than one author who based her novels on Prince Edward Island. I want to share a little bit about what else the island has to offer. Continue reading

I was a bit skeptical when I first heard that someone had turned the classic Lucy Maude Montgomery book into a musical production. But, in every tourist publication that I read as we planned our trip to PEI there was always mention of this musical and that it was a must-see event. And after hearing an endorsement from my parents who had seen it a number of years ago, I decided that our family should check it out. Continue reading

One of the most memorable scenes in the Anne books is the infamous raspberry cordial/red currant wine mix up. To my pure delight, we discovered that the famous raspberry cordial is now available for purchase in stores around Prince Edward Island! Continue reading

There’s a little village on Prince Edward Island that has dirt roads and horse-drawn carriages, a general store and a local farm. Walk on wooden stilts in the schoolyard or participate in a daily potato sack race. This isn’t a real village on Prince Edward Island, but Avonlea Village is a fun little attraction that puts you right into the Anne of Green Gables books. Continue reading

When we put our deposit down on the cottage in Prince Edward Island and started planning this trip, I knew that I wanted to absorb as much about the Anne of Green Gables books and the life of author Lucy Maude Montgomery as possible. And I was going to drag my poor family around as I did it. Continue reading

Our year has been so crazy and hectic that it makes perfect sense that I would want to crank my blog back up after a (not-so-brief) hiatus with some memories of a relaxing and quiet vacation our family had last summer in Prince Edward Island. Continue reading

While on the phone with a Disney World restaurant reservation guide one day, I was let in on a little secret. Midday meals can be kind of quiet at the resorts. It’s true. Everyone is usually at the parks during this time where it’s just as easy to grab a... Continue reading

Martha’s Dandee Cream ice cream stand was on my ice cream favorites list that I posted yesterday, but I thought I’d share a bit more about this delectable little spot just south of Lake George, NY. Situated across the street from the Great Escape, a Six Flags amusement park, on... Continue reading

Awww – summertime! The hot summer days, the colors of the trees and flowers, the family road trips. I’ve been thinking a lot these past few weeks about my childhood summertime memories. The long days spent playing with friends down the street, riding our bikes (pretending they were horses or... Continue reading

When I was in the 6th grade, a restaurant opened up in the city next to our sleepy little village. It had a mouse for a mascot and boasted games and pizza and birthday parties and that this was a place where “a kid can be a kid.” I remember... Continue reading

It’s my birthday week, so I thought I’d focus this week on birthday celebrations. Which has had me thinking about all of my birthdays over the years. Because I have a summer birthday, my birthday never seemed to be quite the same two years in a row. Sometimes, we’d be... Continue reading

About 4 am in the morning of August 11, 2006, I was woken up with a huge headache that just wouldn’t go away. At the time, we were living at my parent’s home temporarily while an addition was being built on our home. And did I mention that I was... Continue reading
