Here are my plans for PAX
Tomorrow, I'm heading up to Seattle for PAX Prime. This year, I hope to play a shitton of games, both of the Tabletop variety and the Video variety. To accomplish this noble goal, I'm not going to do a ton of signing like I've done in years past. If you're planning to attend, and want to do thin...
Ditto.
Rest in peace, Neil Armstrong.
I met Neil Armstrong once, at a dinner to honor Jimmy Doohan in the early 2000s. He was not much taller than me, but he was a giant of a man. He was as kind as he was intimidating. I don’t remember what I said to him, or what he said to me, because all I could think the entire time was “This m...
I've been saying it forever, ever since I saw Eddie Murphy in Vampire In Brooklyn.
"Evil is Good."
Answering a FAQ: "Why do you play so many evil characters lately?"
Every actor has a particular type they can play well, for some reason or another. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with who we are in real life, but it's just what we do well. Example: Travolta is amazing as the Lovable Loser. When he's in Welcome Back Kotter and Saturday Night Fever i...
Excellent episode, hilarity ensued.
And since when has the Enterprise been a space station? O_o
New Tabletop! Say Anything with Matt Mira, Jonah Ray, and Josh Cagan!
Casual party games are a great infection vector for introducing tabletop gaming to our non-gaming friends. For experienced players, they're also fantastic palate cleansers between games of Puerto Rico and Power Grid. This week's new Tabletop is a really fun, quick, easy, and profoundly silly par...
"That stuff is delicious."
You see my dilemma. >_
Setting aside anger for something that I hope is a little more kind. (Or: when I break my own law)
A few days ago, I Twittered: "I can't stop laughing at the bigots who celebrated their solidarity with each other by gorging themselves on shitty fast food. Bravo, jerks." I still think it's silly that eating at a fast food restaurant is considered political activism today, but that's not what t...
Personally I don't think that them supporting his free speech is seen as such from the CEO's standpoint; instead he only sees people spending money that he can then use to propagate his bile. Therefore those people are supporting his bigotry whether they want to or not.

Even an inadvertent win is still a win.
in which I am an indirect contributor to Highlights for Children
In february, I wrote about the time that Anne and I discussed Highlights for Children at great length: "You know what I always hated about Highlights?" Anne said, "some idiot kid had always circled the hidden pictures." "Seriously!" I said, "fuck that kid, man. That kid's a dick." "And what kin...

That is so fracking awesome.
A troubling realization
This comes to us from my son, Ryan Wheaton. Click it to embiggen: Click to Embiggen Footnote: If there was any question that love -- not biology -- makes a family, look no further than my son's delightfully twisted sense of humor, which I think I helped foster.
All of a sudden I miss my old DOS system...
Live action Interactive Fiction games
Remember those old text adventure games from the 80s, like Zork and Leather Goddesses of Phobos and Planetfall and Lurking Horror? I loved them, and I loved how they engaged my imagination while they encouraged me to solve puzzles. When I was at Origins, I saw this game called JUNGLE ADVENTURE,...
Our local comic store has seen the definite influx of business. He commented to me how he hardly ever sold Zombie Dice, until one day someone came in and bought his entire stock. So I told him about TableTop, and now he's stocking extras of what's showing.
Mental Floss really likes Tabletop, and I talk to Nerdist about Second Watch
Two things for you, free of charge. 1. Mental Floss said really nice things about Tabletop: So Wil Wheaton has a YouTube show about boardgames, and it’s awesome. It’s called TableTop, and it’s a long-form (about a half hour per episode) look at various good boardgames, including a basic explana...
