Now that I've got a new DVR with a functioning hard drive, maybe I can catch up! Also, have you been channeling Sir Terry lately?*

Eureka: Of Mites and Men
In every rehearsal, when Parrish stands up to triumphantly announce that he's completed his 100 cranes, I did it in my best* Homer Simpson voice, like when he tries to fake out Apu with the lottery scratcher: "WOOO HOOO! ONE HUNDRED CRANES, BABY!" This episode was more fun to film than I thought...
I live out in a rural area. Every now and again when I'm outside at night - usually taking the dog out - I look up. Having been a city boy most of my life, it takes more than a few seconds to collect all the starts and planets I see into a panorama inside my head. When it clicks like that, I get this vaguely dizzy feeling, almost a vertigo and I have to look away.
I find, at this point, that my dog is waiting patiently for me, but making it obvious that I'm holding her up from some vastly important dog thing that I don't understand. That's generally sufficient to ground me long enough to get back inside before I trip and fall off the planet.
starry starry night
I stayed up until almost one this morning, reading comic books. I know, it's like I'm 12 all over again. And it's awesome. Around four, Anne woke me up. "What's wrong?" I said, while I was still waiting to clear immigration between Dreamland and Reality. "Nothing. I just couldn't sleep, so I got...
Nice shirt! I used my D&D mapping skills much later in life when designing levels for a MUD.
This is also my second D&D 80's flashback this week. Have you seen what's been updated for 4e?

never forget your roots
While walking through Comicon three or four years ago, I stopped to look at one of those booths that's filled with a hundred different T-shirts. Somewhere among the various superhero crests and clever nerd phrases and obscure sci-fi homages, I saw a fairly simple design: an Atari joystick, sitti...
Great post. I'm not an old timer, but I am a fan. It really is odd to see some of what I thought were internal conversations put down on paper by someone else. So please, feel free to continue doing what you're doing. For me, at least (as creepy as it sounds), it's nice to know I'm not as alone inside my head as I had thought.
On a side note, one thing that seems relevant that I've learned from my own voice - Regrets, a harsh mistress if there ever was one - is that no matter what I've been through in the past, I wouldn't be where I am if it weren't for where I was.
X (The closest thing I have to an IGS in plain text.)
excerpted from Just A Geek: a sort of homecoming
As I said in my last post, I'm really excited for all of the events on my schedule at the Phoenix Comicon this weekend, especially the TNG panel, because I get to share the stage with Jonathan and LeVar. Even though I talk to LeVar fairly often, we've never spoken together at a con. Though I've ...

The three party system
While I understand the desire to categorize oneself based on your likes and dislikes (Chocolate/Vanilla, Marvel/DC, Democrat/Republican, etc...), I'm not sure what drives us to sub-sub-sub-categorize. I grew up listening to Rock (a.k.a., Hippy Music), for the most part, with a little Classical (the category, not the musical era) thrown... Continue reading

In the Beginning
This is something I've been wanting to get down in writing for a while, so it may ramble a bit long. I believe that human's have a built in (genetic?) sense of music - some more stunted than others, granted, but it's still there. What's not automatic is the sense... Continue reading
