One of my favorite pieces of writing is one of those little digressions -- "The Mapmaker," now published in the introduction of Fragile Things, though I first heard it at Last Angel in Los Angeles the first time I visited. It made me cry and I never understood why. I still don't understand why it affects me so much, but it does, and I was so very thrilled when I saw it in Fragile Things that I can't really explain.

Any advice for those of us that lack food processors? I haven't made much bread-type dough I fear.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the mechanics of Exalted, but suffice it to say by my third botch of the day I'm generally pretty discouraged myself; my gaming group has resorted to giving me pinch-rollers and random free rerolls because my luck is just that bad, after studying my dicerolls vs. statistical averages. I like both the rules.

I still am not sure entirely why it means so much to me, but it grabs my gut and yanks it about like so much... uh. Yanked stuff. So keep those excisions! Read them aloud on tours and make people cry unexpectedly and despair when they only way they can get that little something is by dropping a few hundred dollars on a limited edition of one of your books until you slip it into the introduction of one of your short story collections!

That commercial made me shoot Fresca out my nose the first time I saw it. I would rather watch that than most TV sitcoms.
