A big part of the culture of many of the places around the United States is the fashion of the colleges that so many of the youth attend day in and day out each year. Each student has his or her own style in college but a lot of the kinds of things that people were are heavily based on what part of the United States that they are based in. For example, the West Coast has a distinct style of dress that makes it apparent that they are laid back beach going people. The first thing you will notice... Continue reading

Each area definitely has its own taste and set of fashion icons and designers. The area has a lot to do with the fashion industry and what comes about their. The urban scene in New York has surely promoted the hip-hop inspired mode of dress for a long time. Years ago, this fueled baggy clothing that did not fit and completely shrouded what a person’s figure really looked like. However, rappers and moguls have now changed their looks and therefore influenced the looks of many of the people who dress in an urban fashion. Big time rap and hip-hop names... Continue reading

Throughout the years, Greek life has become an inseparable part of many of the collegiate communities around the world. The idea and lifestyle has taken a special hold on the East Coast of the United States where it really thrives in a fashion sense as well. There are many different kinds of dress that have come from this, but one has been prevalent and especially noticeable over the years. The way that men dress when involved is something that has been emulated by many companies trying to get into the look and by many people who enjoy it. The first... Continue reading

The East Coast and West Coast are vastly different in the way that the collegiate students act and dress. While they are very relaxed on the West Coast and tend to come off that way in their dress, the Easy Coast is full of preppy guys and girls who dress more conservatively and tend to look that way. This is another great style that takes a confident person with the right fashion sense to pull off. It can be hard for any person to simply pick this style up as it takes some knowledge of the brands and looks. It... Continue reading

In my opinion, one of the best parts of being interested in fashion is modifying the things that you see to work elsewhere, including on yourself. While there are tons of fashions that you may not be in love with, there should be one or two things from each of the things you see that you like. It is important to grow in your fashion sense by trying out various locations and cultures fashion senses. It is great to try something new and really feel great about it when you walk around. It can be hard to sense something like... Continue reading

American’s have always had a good relationship with fashion. But in fact, most Americans don’t know the history of their fashion, except for blue jeans of course, the most markedly American piece of clothing. Denim has always proven to be a durable, comfortable, and breathable material for workers. In the 1950s, blue jeans became popular with teenagers, especially “greasers” and rebellious outlaws as depicted in James Dean’s Rebel Without a Cause. Jeans were originally designed for cowboys and those who worked long hours in the countryside. Eventually, that sort of rugged nature was what got them into the mainstream. Identifying... Spanish clothing’s romantic roots make for some interesting design ideas. When you research Spanish clothing, you will find that it looks very contemporary, while retaining the same classic flair of other types of cultural garments. A gilet is a type of Spanish vest, or a sleeveless jacket of waist to knee length. Traditional gilets were fitted and close to the body, though today they are straight-sided when worn. Older gilets also had the luxury of being embroidered with a number of different designs and stichings. Today’s gilet is worn on top of outer garments for extra protection against the elements.... Japanese fashion is highly regarded are one of the most unique. From kimonos to today’s modern street fashions, the culture surrounding Japanese garments has always been an interesting one. There are many blogs and websites dedicated solely to showing off various fashions of Tokyo and beyond. Typical Tokyo street fashions of today are a hodgepodge of Western influences and cliques. There are contemporary chic, goth, and even punk styles of dress on the streets of Tokyo. Fashion in this sense is not limited to any particular style or culture, and is very free willed and open to suggestion. Wandering the... Continue reading

Today, certain cultural fashions have become more prevalent than others. This is an especially modern trend, as more and more people are branching out from their culture’s style of dress to another’s. Depending on what top fashion designers designate as highly “fashionable”, sales of particular items will follow suit. Current events and the economy of a certain state or country can also dictate what fashions are popular. Middle Eastern clothing has become ever popular with many fashionable individuals, mainly due to the rise in trade and commerce within the United Arab Emirates. Places like Dubai offer hundreds of shopping malls... Continue reading
