Hollinger clearly bumpedhis head when he wrote that Murphy would be a major rotation player. Murphy has been done for years now, just being toss around for salary/contract purposes like Raef LaFrentz was.
Hollinger has high praise for Kevin Garnett
ESPN's John Hollinger has published his player profiles for the Celtics. Considering most analysts have pegged the Celtics as a faux threat to contend this year, I was surprised by Hollinger's optimistic take on the Celtics Big 4. Most notable was his analysis of Kevin Garnett: Garnett looked to...
good catch, the salary total numbers on Shamsports.com aren't accurate right now. we fixed it.
Free agents the Celtics should target
Now that we have a season once again, it comes time to fill out the roster before the start of the season. Currently the Boston Celtics have 6 able bodies under contract (Garnett, Pierce, Allen, Rondo, Jermaine O’Neal, and Avery Bradley), 1 restricted free agent (Uncle Jeff) and 1 retired vete...
awesome video! even better that i can see me in this!
You should cut out that Rondo alley oop off the head and make it a seperate video, ud get a billion hits.
Another look at the Rondo charity game
I want to thank Gabe for emailing us this video. If anyone else ever has any submissions, send them along to redsarmy.com@gmail.com. And by the way, Gabe... great song choice.
How could Williams win in his Turkish debut when hes played a handful of games and looked like crap? Weird how European leagues work.
Your Morning Dump... Where Danny Granger gets it
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. CBS Sports Some of you took umbrage with my criticism of Rajon Rondo for saying this has been the best summer of his life in...

I love how the video called it the best "game" i only saw one person running at any given moment of these highlights. I seen better "games" playing with a nerf hoop with my friends as children
CP3 charity game turns into dunkfest
We knew there would not be any defense in last night's Chris Paul charity game, but these guys really put on a show. This was easily the most entertaining of all the lockout games thus far. Each team had over 70 points at halftime, and there were some sick dunks thrown down. My personal favorite...
Thanks for deciding my plans tonight! I will def watch out for Rondo, and if John/Chuck will post my stories, maybe ill recap his game and elbow.
Oh that elbow.

I had Rick Barry on my weekly show, NBA Unplugged. In that show Rick Barry touched on Clifford Ray how they are best friends and go fishing. Anyways he touched on the departure of Clifford Ray from the Celtics and informed us that Clifford was not paid the full championship bonus that assistant coaches read. I was kind of shocked and hurt by those comments because i didn't think the Celtics would pull those kind of moves.
New episode of "Pivotology" today at 6pm EST
Justin, Brian and Clifford Ray are back for a new episode of the live call-in show "Pivotology". Last week, the guys talked about how the NBA contributes to society and Cliff spoke on his departure from the C's. Check out that episode, and others at their show page You can listen right here at...
i know but felt i should point out the arguments I have regarding the owners inability to agree, how its a moot point in my opinion because they can agree or disagree but if the players won't accept the proposed changes, its all useless.

fantastic post... another factor i would consider is the meaning of the game, a "clutch" shot verses the bobcats in January isn't as important as a "clutch" shot during the playoffs... i would like to see them break it down for .500 + teams only and see whos the most clutch.
players famously take nights and games off verses lesser opponents. they even did it back in the 60's, i think it was 64-65 season where the celtics put up 60+ wins but had 10+ losses to under .500 teams, but beat all the best teams (hawks 4-0, lakers 3-1).
Your Morning Dump... Paul Pierce may or may not be a clutch player
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. But here’s the thing: The numbers ESPN’s research group has provided suggest Pierce shoots just as “poor” a percentage in crun...
Three sources are running with the news that CBA will NOT allow opt-out clauses. Also the league is banned from signing any player who is under contract by an NBA team... so basically only allowing the current free agents. They gave a list of eligible players to each team.

Matt - Democrats stink, they just complain about everything and solve nothing
Zippittyay - agree, the tug on the shoulder/elbow would be an issue...if the injury happened before this meeting, but the injury happened after.
I agree 100% bout rondo being self conscious and taking things to heart. It def could have messed wit him but these problems started in 2007/2008 season when teams took their best defender and they played away from Rondo.
Blame Obama for Rondo's shooting woes?
In Shaq's new book - Shaq Uncut - O'Neal reveals an interesting story involving President Obama and Rajon Rondo: In early March some of the guys went to the museum of Fine Arts for a fund-raiser and got to hang with President Barack Obama. Everyone was a little bit in awe. The President turns ...
Take this as you may.
I lived in Houston for two years (2008-2010) and I took road trips from Houston to Boston twice a year and my boss in Texas told me to be careful in Beaumont because their police are famous for doing unlawful events. They have been known to pull over 18 wheeler trucks and confiscating money and personal items from truck drivers. The police down south are corrupt, or can be corrupt and I wouldn't doubt it if the club owner and police officer were buddies.
Having said this, i agree with Perkins party however, it did take a little while to get this information out... but we will see what happens.

Kentucky Pros Vs Dominican Republic: Video
On Monday night, Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo participated in his first basketball game since the playoffs ended against the Miami Heat in May. Rondo suffered a gruesome elbow dislocation in Game 2 and was never the same. This was the first time Celtics fans were able to see him in a...

Hey Delonte, come work for us
Unlike some of his peers, Delonte West cannot play overseas (darn legal issues), so he's seeking employment elsewhere. With all due respect to Home Depot, Red's Army has much more to offer: Ability to work from home No heavy lifting Weekly donut delivery (We all know how much Delonte loves do...

Looking Back with New Stats: 2008 Finals Game Four
Without basketball to watch, I must resort to old game tapes to get my NBA fix. Like most addicts, I can’t stay away. I decided to start this new segment with the 2008 NBA Finals, my first NBA Finals as a Celtics fan (I was 1 when the 1986 banner went up). I picked game four of this series be...

Paul Pierce somewhat amusingly looks for the Sports Kid of the Year
The Truth was tweeting out pictures from this commercial shoot last week. Now we're seeing the finished product. This is for Sports Illustrated's "Sports Kid of the Year" search. It's kind of amusing (I liked "PHOTOSYNTHESIS!!!!"). And if you're interested in nominating someone, here'...
AWESOME READ!!! I WAS GOING TO DO THIS STUFF ON MY OWN SITE TOO!
I am almost done with the Book of Basketball and im glad i read The Breaks first because Simmons has a lot of references to it.
Fantastic read, i love the stories about Lucas, Walton, Monroe, Kermit, etc!
Summer Reading: "The Breaks of the Game"
If you can recall the book review series we did for Tim Donaghy's book last year here at Redsarmy, then you'll know what these posts will be about. Basically, I take any Celtic-related excerpts from a basketball related book and give a few thoughts and comments about them. There are several go...
Public enemy #1 is Matt Bonner... he must be destroyed... kidding, none of these guys scare me... Kobe is on his last leg and until Lebron shows up (Wade won that series vs Boston) then I am not worried there either. Want to talk real Boston vilians? Try football or baseball..
The "bad guys of Boston sports": Kobe & LeBron
CSNNE is running down the biggest villains in Boston sports and a GREAT place to start is with Kobe Bryant. That video nicely runs down a bunch of the reasons why we hate him. And then there is LeBron James. Part of that stems more from the fact that James, more than any other player, stand...

I love your optimism but I can't share it because of the same fact that Billy Hunter pointed out, one of the few times I agree with his comments. He points out that the new wave of owners (GS, Philly) bought into franchise with a promise of Obama (change) in the way business is done, and if Stern can't deliver that.. than he will lose some credibility with the owners.
I hope we have a season, or else I will become a football blogger... speaking off... "www.billsarmy" "www.kraftsarmy.com" ?

You are free to express your opinions but i dont think this current model will last into the future, especially the big economic picture here (outside of basketball). I think it needs a harder cap than what is in place and i really would love to see what all these other expenses that are breaking the owners backs because I don't buy it, considering the financial statements (which are not 100% accurate) show that the salaries consume 60-80% of the total expenses.
I want to believe that the owners exercised all other options, such as extending notes on their mortgages (stadium, facilities), cut wastes (some of those employees we gripe about losing their jobs, maybe they were wasteful), etc.. but until I sit down with a good 3-5 year history of financials, i won't know what they spend them on.
fyi - i have my degree in accounting, which is why i talk like I know what I am doing. I have not been able to see a good stretch of financials, just the one year snap shots that TMZ and Deadspin find.
Spencer Hawes is my new favorite player
The NBA lockout is more than a month old. Both sides have met once since the lockout began. And through it all, the NBPA's rank and file have largely been quiet. But one man has the guts to call out David Stern. One player has stepped up to speak his mind, regardless of potential consequenc...
