Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush Of quite birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. Continue reading

My mom died on Monday. She looked more at rest than she had in a long time. We promised her that she wouldn't have to go in to a hospital or hospice but could stay at home. So the hospital bed was in the living room facing the patio window and the blue sky. The morphine and other meds kept her painfree and asleep for the last 2 weeks. The funeral is on Friday and she'll be with my dad. When they first moved here over 20 years ago they went for a drive. When they came back I said... Continue reading

It's been an interesting 6 months here in beautiful Florida. Let's see - last Nov I had a temporal biopsy of both arteries. Not so bad only out of work for a week. And then I joined a $10 a month gym whose name should synonymous with You get what you pay for. Hence the title of this post and the little drawing below. So this is what you look like when the treadmill throws you off because some idiot leaves the treadmill running when they get off or the treadmill malfunctions and starts on it's own. And when you... Yes I'm still drawing here but not posting much. Here's a few: This one is my dad. He was a really dandy in his day. This is from a bw photo before he went into the army. He must have been 21 or so. He went right through boot camp only to be discharged for 4F for a heart murmur. You'd think they would have found out before boot camp. Came home, married my mom and went to Baltimore to build ships for the navy. Not me. I bought my dotta riffic pens on ebay a few years. Big thick... Continue reading

Last night there was a memorial service for my sister in law's mother. The apt was packed with people. 10 grandchildren, their wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends and 3 great grandchildren. If you live on through your children, then Bea is going to be around for a very long time. My little paper quilt is dedicated to Bea. Continue reading

Ok well that horrible holiday urge got a hold of my very weak soul yesterday. And the worst thing is that it happened in Best Buy. I switched back to att for my phone from cable. When cable goes out so does the phone. And living in Florida that happens alot. So I went to Best Buy yesterday to pick up a modem. There was no traffic. I didn't realize it at the time but that was because everyone was at Best Buy. So I picked up the modem and thought while I'm here I'll wander around- a really bad... Continue reading

Well this is one neglected blog. Been very busy with MRIs and surgery and dr visits. All over though and everything is just fine. Here's some beautiful creatures that need someone to love and love them. They need homes and can be found on Petfinder.com. Moo Moo and Nikta. And Stella, And Pumpkin. and Valentino (and I can spell, I just can't write). Continue reading

This one took about 1 1/2 hours to finish. I like how these come out but really they're not much fun to do. My hand cramps up and it causes quite a bit of panick when it's 1/2 way done. I don't really want to start over. So I finished 1/2 when I stopped and scanned and printed it out and finished that one. In case it wasn't any good, at least I wouldn't have to redo the whole drawing. And the boy's hand didn' come out very good, looks like a claw but I'm not doing it again. Continue reading

I photoshopped the b&w taking out the black skirt. Printed and colored it. I think I like this version best. More warm and fuzzy. The order is for postcards, cards and magnets so the original isn't that important. Continue reading

Here's my next commission. I intended it to be color in my more usual non realistic style which is really what I most comfortable with. This style does take more concentration. I used an extra fine sharpie and when I did everything but the hat I panicked. I was afraid of messing it up. So I scanned the drawing without the hat, printed it out and finished the hat with a #2 micron. I realized I would never get the pattern right in the hat so I just tried for the shadows. This is one of the few times I've... Continue reading

Not a very pleasant few days. Some of the side effects of prednisone are manic beavior, insomnia, euphorpia. I've had everything but euphoria. I could do with a little of that right now. Here's the first of the holiday commisions. It will be postcards, cards and magnets. Continue reading

I know - it's a little early. Here's my holiday card. Violet's the one without shoes. She likes her toes to wiggle. And there's a recipe on the back: Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. Billy Shakespeare. I was never fond of that recipe. He forgot the chocolate. Continue reading

This is Gracie, my sweet pea. Most of the time. Don't give me that look. Well you wouldn't need a bath if you didn't tip over that bowl of spaghetti now would you? Now really, if you bit into the cable wire and burnt you mouth would you do it again? Well someone did. Continue reading
