I'm on board with that NEPP. As my first "recorded" post on typepad, I hereby announce that there is still room on the DOM Bandwagon and I have graciously saved a seat for each and every beerleaguer, allowing them to claim they've loved him ever since the beginning and free from ridicule for not believing earlier.

Last pitcher to win 19 games as a Phillie? John Denny 1983.

wait wait wait, Werth with a RISP hit, but an out with a man on 1st?! He's gotta be reading beerleaguer, no other explanation.

fatti: haha hell yea dude, that was incredible. I know Hanley is a lazy bastard, but that was even of long pause for him to stand back up after falling to one knee on that swing.

Werth with a couple more of them and we're all systems go

zach - nice find. Do you have total PAs for the leverage? That IFF% split is very very big.

Dom looks like he runs the bases just like he plays the field. Not very fundamental, but his raw skill is at such a high level that he stills excels.

bruce: im not as down on happ as some, but i would definitely label myself as a nonbeliever. I think his rookie year will be his career year, and by a decent margin as well. I dont wish him bad luck, and if he turns out to be good, then good for him and im glad he's not in the NL East.

COL vs SF I am actually kinda of scared about the Rockies getting hot a la 2007. Carlos Gonzalez frightens me by himself. I might want to see SF win a few to cool them off even tho SF is closer behind us in the WC.

bruce ruffin: does the pitcher Bruce Ruffin ring a bell to you? A deceptive nonstuff lefty who had a great rookie year. Ruffin 1986: 9-4 2.62 ERA, 1.59 K/BB, .278 BAbip, 74.5% LOB, 7th in ROY Happ 2009: 12-4 2.93 ERA, 2.13 K/BB, .270 BAbip, 85% LOB, 2nd in ROY

bruce: Jason Jennings won the ROY - he had 1 season with an ERA under 4.

offtopic: Watching MLB Network, showing video of Aroldis Chapman striking out a guy on three fastballs: 103, 105, and 104mph.

re: offense I think curt said it yesterday - coulda been someone else: This team is going to live or die with their standard set lineup. I think thats how it should be. Anything outside of an offday here or there would be overmanaging in my opinion. If Utley Howard Werth aren't going to hit enough for this pitching staff, than the Phils wont win the World Series its as simple as that. There is no magic configuration of backups that is going to bring home another pennant - its gotta be the stars.

HopeSE: good question - neither have I. I was assuming a fine to be annouced at the very least.

jack: good call, i suspect a couple backward Ks in the next inning unless the hitters catch on. And diaz lookslike he really wants to throw someone out, so look for an even wider zone with 2 strikes.

Lance Diaz: Turn the f around, what a jerkoff.

Polly bunting was so dumb - think he did it on his own?
