Heading south this morning to meet Jennifer for brunch at the shore, and then we'll heading further south for an afternoon and evening of Barbie-Q and Bocce with Jack and Les at Judy and Charlie's. We haven't been to their place in 20+ years. Curious to see where my head will be with what I'm eating because they're having Charlie's world famous crab sauce, lobster and ribs, and I know with that just the tip of the "foodberg" with that crew! Quiet start of my morning hanging out in my Adirondak chair having a little home brew. Continue reading

Yes, it was my birthday and I had a nice day, but what I enjoyed the most about the day was that I really didn't have any desire to pig out because it was my birthday. I took pics of everything except for a Kashi cookie I ate on the run to an appointment, that happens sometimes. Breakfast... of course I had to have my venti Starbucks 1/2 caf with some milk and a Sweet N'Low, then a refill and a Kashi TLC fruit & grain bar. Lunch... a Quick Check sub and a few chips, hey it is my... Continue reading

I started my day off with my usual Starbucks vent 1/2 caf with a little milk, followed by a McDonald's Sausage Biscuit. Then around 10 I made myself a Designer Whey protein drink to keep me going while I knew I was going to be super busy today. So when 1 rolled around, there really wasn't really any time to break for lunch so I ran into Jen's kitchen and made a quick bite to eat, little did I know how quick a bite it was going to be. Nothing fancy, just healthy. Natural peanut butter on Ezekiel bread. So... Continue reading

Now that I got caught up with my postings from Friday and Saturday, it feels good to get back on track with posting and updating in more real time. So... to start my day I had two Starbucks venti 1/2 cafe with a little whole milk and a Sweet N'Low, and then we had breakfast at Steve's in Sea Bright. Lesson learned... if you go somewhere for something you really want, and they don't have it, you just might want to leave an go somewhere else. Why? Well I've found that more times than not, no matter what other substitute... Continue reading

around a lot today because of client meetings, so I have to remember to stay a"weigh" from one of my big weaknesses, "on the road snacks." I think I still have urges to stop along the way for snacks when I'm driving around because of all of the fun road trips we took when I was a kid. Food was always a big part of our life, but our family really loved getting a great "treat on the way." Not too mention that I got a Ph.D. in snacking options when I used to work at my parents 7-11 store... Continue reading

Ok, another day, another opportunity to make great healthy choices. My Sparkpeople iPhone app says I can have between 2270 - 2620 calories today to stay on track to lose 2 lbs a week. Let the caloric games begin! And if you're going to start your day with eggs + bacon, the healthiest combo would be Eggsland's Best eggs and Applegate Farms bacon. Only 70 calories an egg for Eggland's Best eggs and a surprising only 60 calories for two strips of Applegate Farms bacon that has all of the flavor of old fashioned country bacon without added nitrites or... I have a feeling that starting my day off with carbs really set off a massive hunger-fest! I gotta be honest, I'm really having a hard time not wanting to eat everything in site for some reason! My morning started off with a Starbucks venti 1/2 caf with a little milk, followed by a bowl of Wegmans bran cereal, some blueberries and skim milk. And that didn't hold me too long, so I made 1/2 a sandwich with the last bit of Applegate Farms Southwest Turkey I had, along with some Baked Tostito's. I would have thought that having a... Yeah, it's been a while, but I'm tired of "weighting" to really start living my life again! So with only 60 days to go, it's time for me to really commit to kicking everything up quite a few notches with what I'm eating and especially how I'm training. My personal mantra for this upcoming event is... FAT MEN CAN TRI! So my for my first caloric deposit of the day I had a Starbucks venti 1/2 caf with a little milk and I made 2 GG Scandinavian Crispbread snacks with Applegate Farms turkey salami and some whole grain mustard. And... Continue reading

My SparkPeople account again that is... I cleared my old records, entered my current weight of 350 lbs, and based on the fact that I'm 5'11'' they recommend I eat between 2270-2620 calories, 255-426 grams of carbs, 50-102 grams of fat, and 75-229 grams of protein to lose at least 2 lbs a week. With my trusty iPhone in hand ready to take pics of everything I eat and armed with a SparkPeople app to access and track calories, I've further strengthened my Smart Phone Diet arsenal of digital tools to keep my body moving in the right direction from... As I posted yesterday, everyday we start at 0 calories, a chance to start anew. But unless you have some tool you can use to source how many calories you're taking in when you're eating, then it's a pretty much a very big guessing game. Well I had intended yesterday to start using the SparkPeople web site and iPhone app again, but I never got around to accessing and updating my account. So then I figured I'd do it this morning, not. So... right after I update this post I'm going to set up my account again so I'm ready... Continue reading

No matter what we ate yesterday, each and every day we get to start at zero calories... Starting at 0, the first caloric deposit I made this morning was about 20 calories for the milk I put in my Starbucks and then another 335 calories for the McDonald's Sausage McMuffin I had for breakfast. Now I'm not sure how many calories my salad at lunch came to but chances are the majority of them came from the dressing, although I asked them to go light on on it. Then later on in the afternoon I had a snack of some... Continue reading

Up early and off to a client meeting all day, and a long ride home, today was really mostly about eating on the run. And no gym. Starting off with a Starbucks breakfast of a venti 1/2 caf with a little milk and one of their sandwiches. Lunch, a few tortilla chips and a pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw. And then around 5:30 on my long drive home I split a turkey sandwich with my partner and I had a small bag of cheese popcorn. And then we ate dinner about 8 @ Libretti's which we haven't been to... and I never got my head up from my computer long enough to make it to the gym... So the day started out pretty normal, what else, Starbucks venti 1/2 caf with a little milk. Only one though this morning, no refill. No breakfast, and look at what I had for lunch, a bowl of peanuts. It looks like a big bowl, but it wasn't. I did manage to have lots of water throughout the day, and then like a groundhog around 5, I popped my head up from my screen and figured I should have something other than peanuts.... I really think it was Jennifer's "Jersey Shore Boardwalk Boot Camp" and Super-Tasty Healthy Cooking that helped me burn 3 more lbs of fat over the 4th! Instead of having an excuse that I wasn't near my gym, Jennifer turned her boardwalk and beach into my training ground. 4 mile circuits on the boards, and here's a pic of me red-faced 1/2 way through a set... And then later in the day it was ocean swims amongst JAWS filled waters. Ok, we didn't run into any sharks, just lots of stinky mussel smells. Thanks Jen for the inspiration, the training,... From Saturday until today I took pics of almost everything I ate, but I never posted any updates until now. And instead of taking lots of time trying to remember all that surrounded my "thinking + eating" at those moments I decided to just post the pics in the sequence I took them. So the following shots include every pic I took until this morning, that's another post. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday... Continue reading

Two venti Starbucks 1/2 cafs for breakfast. Snack, Skippy extra chunky and on Wasa crackers. 3:07 and that's all I've had so far, not good. Running out of the house now to start heading west to see Ringo Starr later tonight... Ringo pic placeholder to hopefully insert a pic of Kim and Ringo later tonight. Stay tuned... So as you can see I hardly ate a thing before dinner. Yes, I could have eaten less, but I only a ate a couple bites of an appetizer, drank a Diet Coke and had an amazing salad and steak, no dessert. You... Continue reading

finding my consistent caloric mojo! Once agaim I've gotten so wrapped up in my work that I'm not taking the time I need to properly fuel my body. Breakfast... NOT! Just my usual Starbucks. Lunch... 12:30 ish and by the time I had it I was crazy hungry. What did I have? The smallest of the remaining 1/3 of my Ham and Cheese Sloppy Joe from Millburn Deli and one serving of Lays BAKED potato chips again. Snack... a peach around 3. I'm setting myself up for a high caloric dinner, but maybe since I know it, I'll head it... Continue reading

and I was more than satisfied, and I burnt at least 300 calories at Ballys on the treadmill and bike. How do I know, well I tracked every single thing I ate on my iPhone using the SparkPeople app. If you look at my picture journal from yesterday you can see I looked like I had enough food to eat, and I did. I even added a peanut butter rice snack after dinner to get my calorie count up for the day and I still only ate 1391 calories. So let's get started with today. Breakfast... of course Starbucks venti... Continue reading
