Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and I have a simple sketch to share with you. There are so many ways to go with this sketch and I decided to use it for another card for my collection for Cards for Hospitalized Kids. I wanted to make it graphic and bright and the stencil from the Hero Arts Monthly Card Kit for June was the perfect backdrop and then I stamped and cut two items from the kit as the focal elements. Here's my card: I love the graphic elements from... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. Our very talented and newest design team member is hosting our challenge this week and Kel has a great code word for us: This leaves the field wide open - so often infact that I couldn't decide which of the two cards I made to showcase :-) I ended up going with a little boy card - another one that is going off to Cards for Hospitalized Kids :-) I had such fun stamping the elements and then doing a quick color using copic markers. I do hope you will play along with us this week.... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday. I have such a fun image for you tonight. Up front... gotta tell you... I love this image :-) I saw this great challenge across at Just Add Ink this week. I know a lot of people are doing "Christmas in July", but I just CANNOT think about Christmas just yet.. heck...summer has only just arrived. So..... when I saw the twist as JAI - I was thrilled! ETA..... Ooooooopsss..... I read the instructions incorrectly... .USE A BIRTHDAY SET FOR A CHRISTMAS CARD!!!! Oh... well.... I'll unhook it from the JAI site... but at least you... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. The team across at Inkspirational Challenges have a great sketch challenge this week. It's very different and I was excited to play along. As soon as I saw the sketch, I had this idea spring into my mind. It took a little playing around with the elements to make them work - but it turned out pretty much as I had hoped it would. I'm still making cards for both Cards for Hospitalized Kids and Card Care Connection. Both of these charities are doing wonderful things and I always feel inspired overtime I go to their... Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme challenge for us: There are so many different ways you can take this challenge. The inspiration behind my card stems from seeing the kids next door jumping in and out of their little paddling pool. It was so hot I was tempted to go and kick them out so I could go wading myself, but didn't think that would go down very well :-) It did get me to thinking about the paddling pool that my bestie, Pammie... Thank you, Jeanette :-) I must admit, sometimes I just don't have the patience and will color in 5 minutes. other times, I am more relaxed, or need something to focus on, and there is something very meditative about coloring on those days :-) hugs jaydee

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. Casethissketch has a great sketch this week and I couldn't wait to play along: Immediately I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for a thank you card I had to make for our neighbors who invited us over to celebrate the 4th with their family. it was a fun afternoon and we really appreciated them making us feel so welcome - and putting up with the fact that we were both vegetarian :-) I used Altenew's Enchanted Iris for the focal point. I absolutely love this set and spent well over an hour... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us: Now.... I am NOT a pink girl and this is a whole lot of pink and....I don't have any of the colors :-) Now, I have to say - the three colors are fabulous together - and I really enjoyed playing with them - but generally pinks are not part of the color wheel that I generally see :-) But, as I have said multiple times, the great thing about doing challenges is that they... Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme for us: I chose to go with the "congratulations" choice. In the UK it is customary to take a "gap year" between school and university and that usually entails a nice trip to wonderful (or maybe not so wonderful!) places around the world. As my gap year was in Africa, I decided to showcase that with the Hero Arts card kit from June. I LOVE this kit because of the theme and thought it was very appropriate for... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Popping in with a quick post for you tonight. I saw this great sketch across at Freshly made Sketches. I used my Studio Katia stitched rectangle to create the rounded element and realized that it would fit a brand new stamp that I bought. I fell in love with this little image when I was looking for stamps to create some fun cards for the Cards for Hospitalized Kids charity. It really is such a cute image and was fun to color. It would also be create to paper piece. I stamped the image directly on the shaped... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us: I had so many ideas going around in my head for this sketch, but finally settled on my new Enchanted Iris set from Altenew. I love this set and it's a joy to color. For the vertical side panel, I used my brick stencil to make it feel as though the iris was growing in front of the wall. I needed a thank you card for another colleague who has been a complete brick (excuse the pun!)... Continue reading

She's offering up a $15 gift certificate and the winner can choose from an array of fabulous items. Our guest designer for this challenge is Lynn Mangan and I hope you will visit her blog and leave her some love for her beautiful, leafy card. Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host our Paper Player's challenge this week featuring Sandy's fabulous choice of Clean and Simple with a theme of Feathered Friends. This challenge is so perfect for me that I cannot believe I didn't think of it! However, I get to have the fun of hosting for Sandy while she is taking a well earned break. There were SO many sets I could have used for this challenge, but I decided to create a card for a friend at work who has been very supportive over the last few difficult months. I... Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday. I have a couple more cards to share with you tonight using the Color Layering Bengal Tigers, one of the additional items from the Hero Arts June 2017 Monthly card kit. I bought this set because I am making cards for the charity Cards for Hospitalized Kids and I thought the images and sentiments would be ideal for cards. I also used the fabulous bronze paper that was included in the card kit and paired it with the Tribal Shapes Stencil, also an additional item to the kit. Instead of using the stencil as a stencil,...
