Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. Where has this week gone?!!! It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and I have a sketch for you. I needed a support card and the Altenew Hope set was perfect. I wanted to keep the background very clean and simple. That way the focus would be on the sentiment and the focal image. It was such an easy card to put together. To add a little bit of shimmer and shine, I added some foil to the middle of the flower by covering the dots from the stamp with a glue... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. Greetings from an exceptionally snowy Minneapolis. But more about that later! I completed the final project for my final class of the Altenew Educator Certification Program. YAY... :-) and today's card is for that final class. The class is Polychromatic and one of the lessons is to create a card using pastels and no line coloring with Copic markers. This was a lesson that was very close to my heart. I love coloring, but still find no-line coloring tough, so it was really good to have an excuse to do some practice for my final class... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge for us this week and she has a wonderful theme for us: Now, I love this theme.... but I am totally in love with Nance's amazing badge this week! I really wanted to make an interactive card and decided to make a shaker card using some old Martha Stewart sequins from my stash. I stamped the fairy image and colored it with my Copic markers. I then cut out an oval from fun foam and added the sequins inside it to cover the fairy. I then mounted... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's the fabulous Anja's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and this is her code word is The design team have a very varied set of cards for you using this code word :-) I decided to go with an old stencil and some sponging. It allowed me to create a soft background I decided to pair this with a nice glittery, glimmery sentiment from the Altenew Holiday Script die. Who says that wishes can't be something other than Christmas :-) I had originally intended to leave the die-cut sentiment silver, but... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Quick post for you today! Here's another card I made for the Altenew Parents Day card drive. I'll be sharing the Father's Day cards I made with you next week. One of the classes for the AECP program is Masking Unleashed. One of the lessons in the class is coloring with negative masking. That's when you use the space left by your die cut (the negative space) as a mask and you color within that negative space. This means that everything outside of the negative area is masked. I decided to use the Stunning Cosmos set. I stamped... Continue reading

Hi Everyone Happy Thursday. Where has this week gone???!!! I have a different kind of card for you today. I haven't used water bleaching for years and I was inspired to use it for this card one one of the lessons from the AECP Beyond Basic Backgrounds So, remember last post when I said I didn't use purple very often? Yep.... Guess what? A purple card!!! Well, strictly only a third of the card is purple :-) However, I needed a dark background to show off the water bleaching technique, and purple was a good choice as it is a... Continue reading

HI Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a color challenge. And.... oh, boy! was this a challenge for me! Those of you who have been (thank you all so much...) following me for a while, know that PURPLE isn't my color. Pink isn't really my color - but purple even less so. Don't get me wrong.... I LOVE purple - and violet in particular, but I am very rarely compelled to use it on cards. Add to that, I don't have my SU stamp pads anymore..... so I... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday. I am very late with this post. So late that I missed two submission deadlines for the challenges that inspired this card :-) Oh, well. I am going to blame it on the snow and the 8 degree temps we had this morning. Yes. 8 degrees in April! :-) One of the classes for the AECP course is "With a Twist" - another class by the very talented Therese Calvird of lostinpaper.com. If any of you have ever watched Therese's videos, you will know that she is not only very talented, but very easy to listen... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. I have a quick post for you tonight. One of the classes I am doing as part of my Altenew Educator Certification Program is called "Color your day" and the presenter is the very talented Therese Calvird from lostinpaper.com The first lesson in the class is to use a photo for inspiration. So, find a photograph that appeals to you and use those colors to create a card. Mmmm... just up my alley. So, I went off to look for photo inspiration challenges and found this one at Card Concept - The bright yellow chair with... Continue reading

Hi Everyone Happy Easter! It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme challenge for us I decided I would make a gender neutral birthday card and the fabulous badge that Nance created inspired me to use the music on the background. Also, Lou is complaining about the number of flower cards I have made, so I needed to go in a different direction. Note to Lou: Only 2 of the past 6 cards on my blog are florals :-) Anyway, back to this card.... :-) I went with a subtle... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. Its the fabulous Bobby's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a wonderful code word for us: Now, there is still snow on the ground here, so it's been a while since we really saw a good downpour of rain and, I must admit, I am really looking forward to just feeling a good downpour :-) In fact, when I made this card we hadn't seen rain for about 4 months, as it was early February and all we had seen here in Minnesota was....... snow! I almost called this... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday night. I did manage to get some time in my craft room this afternoon and created some cards for my classes at AECP. Tonight's card is for the Magical Marker Techniques class. One of the lessons was to use Copic markers to color metallic stickers. Well, that technique is exactly what I needed for tonight's card as I needed gold strips and only had silver! I hadn't ever thought about coloring metallic stickers with my Copics and would have had to go and hunt down some metallic gold strips if it hadn't been for the class!... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a sketch for us: Now..... I'm a clean and simple gal and Claire is a lots of layers gal. So, I know that my CAS challenges are hard for Claire - and this was a challenge for me :-) But... that's the whole thing about challenges - they are meant to take us out of our comfort zone! My challenge was to get this many pieces onto a card and still try to make it feel like me. In the... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge and she has a clean and simple theme challenge for us: Now, this theme fit perfectly into a class I was doing at AECP - In the Mood for Color As this is a clean and simple challenge, I wanted to make sure that I kept the elements to a minimum. So, how could I do that and still icnorporate a rainbow - one of the lessons from the In the Mood for Color, too :-) I looked through my stamp sets and decided that... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. I have a quick post for you tonight. My most recent class across at Altenew was Impressive Heat Embossing and, once again, I thought I knew a lot about embossing, but still learned things - one of the techniques I used on tonight's card, in fact! I also went looking for a sketch to inspire me - and found this great one across at Casethissketch Although, when I went to assemble my card, I had to reverse the sketch in order to get my flower and leaves to work - so I hope they will forgive... Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday! It's the fabulous Ellenor's turn to host our challenge at Addicted to CAS this week and she has a great code word for us. How could I resist that? Clean and simple - and birds! What a great combo. I hope you play along with us this week. If you do, and you are chosen as our winner - the fabulous Kylie has a $20 gift card to her store for the winner. If you are looking for some inspiration, you have to look no further than our fabulous design team and the bright, cheerful, tropical... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. I have a quick post for you tonight. This weekend, I was informed by Altenew that I had passed my first level test with this card. I was really happy to hear that and have now moved to level 2 classes! The first class that I did had several lessons from the very talented Marika Rahtu ad the class is called "Beautiful Details". Her coloring is beautiful and she has a very unique take on many of the flower sets from Altenew. One of the lessons was detailed coloring on vellum using Copic markers and pencils.... Hi Everyone Happy Sunday. I am late with my card this week as I only got it finished after dark last night and there was no decent light to take a photo. This morning is overcast and dull, so the light isn't that great either, but at least there was enough light to take photos :-) It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color theme for us: Generally, I would run a mile from a challenge that has pink as the focus. However recently, I seem to have been sharing... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. It's my pleasure to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I have a theme challenge. I know many of us are dealing with incredibly strange - and awful weather patterns and I know I am so ready for spring. Whilst I was making my card this morning I heard the Canadian Geese on their way north and Lou heard the Cranes returning, too! However, based on the weather forecast for the next couple of days, they were way too early! However, as I am VERY tired of winter, I thought this would be a great theme... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's my turn to host our challenge at Addicted to CAS this week and I have this as a code word for you: When I decided on this code word I had thought of creating a St Patrick's Day card, but changed my mind when I sat down to create the card. I realized that there were so many sentiments that you could use including "lucky to have you in my life", "wishing you good luck", "good luck", etc. So, I looked through my stash and found a sentiment that is intended for the inside of... Hi Everyone I saw this great challenge across at AAA Cards Wow... now that made me stop and think. How do I create a card using only die-cuts - no stamping! I had such fun with this challenge and decided to make the most of some DSP and a couple of Dies. You might recognize one of the elements from my post yesterday :-) Here's a closeup of the elements from the two die-cuts I used - a sentiment and a butterfly. I took a piece of the fabulous DSP from Altenew - I love the big, bold, graphical images... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. I have a card and a winner announcement for you in tonight's post :-) Firstly, let's start with the card. I'm down to my last two AECP classes and tonight's card is for the "Celebration Stencil Techniques". This is a fun class that is designed to give you ideas and tips and tricks on getting more mileage out of your stencils and dies. I was inspired by the lesson - create a stencil from your dies. I needed to make a Valentine's card for a very good friend... heck... why shouldn't we send pretty cards to our girlfriends... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a sketch for us: This is such a versatile sketch and I decided to take it in a more masculine route using some of the great Hey Dude masculine papers from My Mind's Eye. You've seen me use this set from My Favorite Things before. I really like the sentiments - and the die-cuts for the bottle and the wine glasses. I took one of the distinctive papers and used it as the horizontal element in the sketch, as well... Continue reading
