Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host our Paper Player's challenge this week featuring Sandy's fabulous choice of Clean and Simple with a theme of Feathered Friends. This challenge is so perfect for me that I cannot believe I didn't think of it! However, I get to have the fun of hosting for Sandy while she is taking a well earned break. There were SO many sets I could have used for this challenge, but I decided to create a card for a friend at work who has been very supportive over the last few difficult months. I... Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday. I have a couple more cards to share with you tonight using the Color Layering Bengal Tigers, one of the additional items from the Hero Arts June 2017 Monthly card kit. I bought this set because I am making cards for the charity Cards for Hospitalized Kids and I thought the images and sentiments would be ideal for cards. I also used the fabulous bronze paper that was included in the card kit and paired it with the Tribal Shapes Stencil, also an additional item to the kit. Instead of using the stencil as a stencil,... Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday. I got the chance to play in my craft room over the last week and had some fun with the new Hero Arts June kit. Some of you may know that I spent a couple of decades living in Africa, so I was very excited when I saw the previews for this kit. I am sharing a couple of cards from the kit with you today - and a couple more tomorrow. As well as the card kit, I ordered a couple of the add-ons. I ordered the color layering Bengal Tigers set, the Tribal Stripes... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a bright, cheerful color challenge for us: I really couldn't work out what to do and then remembered that I had some DSP from the Altenew New Day kit that would work perfectly! It's a black and white piece of DSP and I colored it with the closest colors I could to the challenge colors. I kept the coloring light. I decided there wasn't quite enough Pool Party in the colored areas, so added a layer under the sentiment. To... Continue reading

Hi everyone. Happy Thursday. I'm showcasing Altenew's Enchanted Iris set in a card I made for the Inkspirational and Just Us Girls card challenges. I really liked this set when I first saw it but, having played around with it this week - I LOVE it. I've made several cards with this set that I will be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks. It can be colored with a multitude of mediums and die-cutting out the flowers and leaves is a breeze. Here's my first card - you can see that I colored and die-cut the flowers... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and I have a theme challenge for you. I know I've said this before, but Nance does an amazing job with our badges every week and this week is no exception :-) I needed a birthday card for my bestie, Pammie. Pammie is always made up, nails done, clothing just right - so I thought this Beautiful You set would be perfect, especially paired with the Mediterranean Moments in the background. Pammie has already received her card, so it's safe to show you all:-) I... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday. I have a huge treat tonight... well, it was for me :-) Because of this card that I made for Lou, I have the pleasure of being the guest designer across at Color Throwdown this week. YAY! This is really exciting for me. I love the amazing color combos the team come up with every week but, due to work schedules, find it really hard to get my cards made in time to meet the challenge deadline. Lucky for me, I made it a couple of weeks ago. So, thank you so much to the team... Continue reading

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, As the stars that are starry in the time... HI Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a very versatile sketch for us. I decided to use a wooden square for the central element. It was one of the shapes that came in my New Day card kit from Altenew. I also decided to color it rather than leave it as bare wood. To continue the wooden theme, I used some woodgrain card stock for the base. I stamped the multi-step stamp from Garden Treasure and then mounted the flower and leaves to the wooden square. I... Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. It's really late here, but I did want to pop in and share a card I made for the CaseThisSketch challenge this week. I'm back making cards for Cards for Hospitalized Kids and I saw this amazing set across at Hero Arts as part of their Monthly Card Kit and realized that Mermaids and girls were...well... a pretty cool combination. So, I used the sketch and some of the elements of the Hero Arts kit to create a card Here's the sketch I used the mermaid stamp and die - as well as the die for... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. As it was drizzling, grey, wet and cold again today, I did manage to spend a little time in my craft room and played along with a couple of challenges. Here's the fabulous color theme from Color Throwdown And here is the theme challenge from Simply Less is Moore: It took me a couple of minutes to work out what I was going to do for geometric - as I really don't have many geometric stamps. Then I remembered the New Day Card Kit from Altenew had some geometric wood elements that I really didn't know what to... Continue reading

Karen, thank you :-) Ah! Good question about the cold pressed vs hot pressed. I generally go for the hot pressed purely because I like that it has much less texture than the cold pressed. The cold pressed soaks up a lot of water, so if you need a heavier water application for your coloring, then that is a good choice. I generally don't use a lot of water, and like the fact that I can emboss better on the hot pressed (because it has less texture)... so that's why I like it. Oh... and it's still drizzling and grey and cloudy here :-) I bet you are loving your warmth and blue skies in Florida. hugs jaydee

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a wonderful CAS theme for us. Well, this was a challenge that was right up my alley. The only problem? I couldn't work out which of my butterfly stamps I should use. In the end, I went with the IndigoBlu Big Butterfly stamp. I love how big and bold this stamp is and decided that I would use a simple watercolor technique with silver embossing. Here's a closeup of the watercolor: I love the mix of the blues and greens... Hi Everyone It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us: Now, I have to admit..... this was a tough challenge for me. The one thing that I have realized over the years is that I am not a primary colors sort of gal! I love them... but I just don't use them. So, it took me a while to come up with something that would fit this challenge. It was the orange and red that was tripping me up. Now, my esteemed design team members have helped... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. For tonight's Addicted to CAS challenge I decided to make a card for my bestie. So... because of that - and because she hasn't received it yet - I will not be showing you the inside - and the sentiment :-) When Pammie was a little girl, I was always jealous of her pink tutu and ballet shoes. She also did tap and can still do a mean Charleston :-) Me.... nah... I was the athletic type, never the elegant ballet type. When I saw the Hero Arts April card kit, I knew that I absolutely... Hi Everyone. Popping in to share a card I made for Inkspirational challenge, using the casethissketch challenge, too. I saw this photo at Inspirational and was really inspired by the colors (the greys, brown and white feathers. What an amazing photograph that Marina took. However, I needed a sketch - and, once again, the sketch at casethissketch was perfect. and here's the sketch: It took me a little while to work out how I was going to accommodate the multiple elements of the photo challenge and then realized that I had an old Papertrey Ink set called Feather Finery -... Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. Quickly dropping in to share a card I made this weekend using three - yes, three - challenges :-) and finally, It's very rare that I get to combine two challenges - never mind three! I love the Case sketch and the yellow and grey colors from Less Is More is one of my favorite color combos and how could I not play along with the Curtain Call theme :-) I had this idea in my head to use the dragonfly from SU's Dragonfly dreams. However, I wanted to do something other than florals for the... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. I have a "sweet" card for you tonight! It's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme for us: Now.... as this is a "sweet" challenge, I was tempted to put a photo of my Charlie Cat on my card, but thought that might be a cheating a little.... mind you... he is very sweet! Instead, I went with a clean and simple birthday card that could work for either gender. It was also a great excuse for me to pull out my new Altenew stencil to... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday I have a card to share with you today using the Freshly Made Sketches sketch, the Color Throwdown colors and the theme from Less is More :-) It's not often I get to a three challenge combination. Sadly.. I missed the submission for FMS. Before I share the card and details with you - I wanted to say a huge thank you to the LIM challenge for showcasing this card. I loved making the card and am grateful for their recognition :-) and I used some of the flowers from the Altenew Garden Treasure stamp set... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host the Paper Players challenge this week and I have a tic-tac-toe challenge for you. I decided to go straight across the bottom: Pink, Leaves/Leaf, Flower. I began with one of my favorite Altenew sets - Amazing You. I stamped and die cut the leaves and one of the flowers and colored them with some Polychromos pencils to add detail. I prepared the background with a stencil and some Novo Mousse. Yes.... again :-) I love the subtle texture and shine it gives to the base of a card. Once the mousse... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's my pleasure to host the Addicted to CAS challenge this week and my code word is: there are many ways to go with this word, but I decided to go with a spilt coffee feel and this card is for my dearest hubby who has been gone for the last week. He is my personal barista :-) Lou bought an espresso machine just so that he could make me cappuccino's when he is home - so I thought this would be the perfect card for him. Of course I had to stamp on the inside:-)... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Tonight's card was created for the really creative challenge across at Inkspirational. Isn't that cool? I actually love graffiti art and love visiting cities where they value it. Oh.... and I am Banksy fan I wanted to do something clean and simple and had this image in my head that involved my crafter's workshop brick stencil and an image from my favorite SU set - Beautiful You. I began by using my altenew inks and and lighlty stenciling over the bricks - I wanted it to look as though some brick was exposed and the rest was plastered.... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. It's not often I get to play along with two challenges - but the sketch at Freshly Made and the photo inspiration at Time Out really piqued my interest. The sketch is a very unusual sketch and really made me think hard. When I saw the photo inspiration at Time Out, I realized that the two elements on the sketch would work beautifully with butterflies. The clock on the wall on the photo inspiration got me thinking about my clock stencil from Tim Holtz. Once those ideas came together - the rest was easy. I used the clock... Continue reading
