Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend. It's the fabulous Laurie's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great Clean and Simple challenge for us: As this was a theme challenge, I went looking for a sketch challenge that I might be able to play along with - combining two challenges isn't something I often get to do, however, I saw this great sketch across at Casethissketch: Before I share my card, I felt the need to do provide a little background. It's been a very tough few... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's the fabulous Ceal's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a great code word for us: I was originally going to go with trees... but realized I had this fabulous Altenew cardstock that is woodgrain - and it's a pink color and realized that it would make a fabulous Valentine's/love you card. We also welcome our new guest designer at ATCAS - Jen. Not only is Jen really talented, but she has the coolest named blog ever:-) Magic Flying Boots. Hopefully you will be inspired to play along with... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great color challenge for us... oh... and... I'm obsessed with the photo she chose for the inspiration! That pale robin's egg blue with the copper, pink and grey is a stunning - and very unexpected - color combo. Fabulous :-) I decided to go with a floral for this and had this idea that I could create pink and grey flowers and then use my copper Kuretake metallic watercolors to color in between them. Ooooooopss..... I then found out... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Claire's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and it's a theme challenge: This was the perfect challenge to use a set I purchased from Altenew's new release called Be A Lighthouse. I love the images in this set and they were really easy to use to compose this little scene. I wanted the focus to be entirely on the focal images and kept the rest of the card very simple. The cross-stitch frame was the perfect thing to draw attention to the image - without detracting from it. Here's my... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. It's the fabulous Carolyn's turn to host our Addicted to CAS challenge this week and she has a great theme challenge for us - one that is really close to my heart :-) My regular blog visitors know how important our pets are to us - most of whom are rescues:-) So, I was thrilled when I saw this challenge. Kylie is our amazing sponsor for this challenge and she has a wonderful prize for the winner a $15 gift certificate for her store We also have a new guest designer for our challenge this week.... Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. I hope you are all having a great weekend. It's the fabulous Joanne's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a sketch for us: I wasn't sure where to go with this sketch and it's all because I have a thing about squares.... I don't know what it is.... something in my little brain, for sure! I rarely use squares on a card and, when I do, it's generally as a result of a challenge. Well, that's what challenges are all about - taking us outside of our comfort zone. I... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and I have a clean and simple challenge - with a little twist :-) Isn't Nance's badge fabulous? She has also done an amazing job of modernizing and updating our blog header and badges. Amazingly talented lady :-) Tonight's card too me much longer than it should have. Why? Well... apart from the fact that I had absolutely no idea where I was going with the card. None. Zip. Nada. Zilch. I sat there at my crafting desk...... just looking out of the window. Why?... Hi Everyone. Happy Friday..... although you won't be reading this until Saturday :-) I corrupted my photo editing software and had to reload it... consequently I missed uploading my AtCAS card in time for the start of the first challenge of the year. You would think that I would NOT have missed it considering we have been on break..... but.. miss the deadline I did. However, here I am... better late than never :-) It's the fabulous Anja's turn to host our first challenge of 2017 and she has a great code word for us. It's also the first challenge... Hi Everyone. Happy Tuesday. I hope you are all having a great week. At the end of last year I promised myself that I would start to use all of the mixed media materials that I had purchased in the hope that I was going to - somehow - become an expert at mixed media! Couple of problems with that: I hate getting my hands dirty I hate getting anything sticky on my hands (including cake mixture) I'm constantly washing paint palettes, brushes - and my hands - and it gets exhausting going backwards and forwards to the sink every... Hi Everyone, happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a color challenge for us: YAY!!! I was so happy when I saw this challenge as I realized I could use my new favorite color combo - black, white and silver! It was also the perfect color combination to create a card to celebrate the anniversary of my besties - Pam and John. So.... you two.... we hope you have a wonderful anniversary - this one is for you! I began with a piece of white cardstock that I covered... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Thursday. I got to play in my craft room this week and found two challenges that were a perfect duo to combine. Cupcake Inspiration Challenge is black, white and silver and CAS on Sunday is black, white and a color of my choice! I began with a piece of black cardstock and heat embossed the flowers, stems, leaves and sentiment with silver embossing powder. I then mounted the front piece onto a piece of fun foam for a little dimension and mounted that onto a neenah solar white card base. I love the silver with the black... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. I hope you are having a great weekend so far. It's our first Paper Players challenge of 2017 and it's the fabulous LeAnne's turn to host our challenge this week and she has a theme challenge for us. In addition to it being our first challenge of the year, we have 3 new very talented guest designers joining us. Welcome, Valentyna, Crystal and Deanne. When I sat down to create my card for this challenge, I was initially drawn to re-using something from a Christmas present but, as I sat at my craft desk, I noticed... Continue reading

Hi Everyone Happy Friday. I am SO pleased it is the weekend and that I have a couple of days to switch off from the madness at work and just chill.... considering it's been -25.... chill is the operative word! I wanted to share some more cards that I made for the kids. I found some stamps from Julie Nutting that reminded me of the old paper dolls that I used to play with as a kid. "Back in the day".... like 5 decades ago... I used to get "Bunty" magazine as a treat. I always looked forward to them... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. A belated Happy New Year to you all. I hope that 2017 brings you all the wonderful things that you wish for yourself. Yesterday was my first official day back at the office. I was "on vacation" but had to check email and do those types of things during my days off. That gave me time to do some things around the house, spend some quality time with Lou - and also to make some cards for "Cards for Hospitalized Kids". In total I managed to make 150 cards. I didn't get to make as many for Card... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday. Before we get to our card for today, let's announce the winner of the blog candy. Once again you proved that it is hard to outwit many of you. The photo of the greens in the snow was - ROSEMARY. It's planted in a box on our deck along with some basil, sage, thyme and ...... my favorite.... chocolate mint. (strawberries topped with Chocolate mint and Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar -is a truly wonderful combination, by the way!) Other than the Rosemary, nothing survives winter. The winner of the JOY die is..... Congratulations, Evelyn, please send your... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. I hope you are having a great start to your week. Me? I am on "vacation", so am getting some free time during the day and that has allowed me to go and do something that is more meaningful at Christmas than the rubbish that is going on at my office at the moment. It means that I got to spend the afternoon my cards for "Cards for Hospitalized Kids". It felt good to make some bright and cheery cards today and I plan to make many more of the Christmas holiday. I will also be... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Saturday. I hope you are all having a great start to your weekend. Here? We have 10 inches+ of snow on the ground and the temps are getting down into the minus 20 air temp with windchill near -40! BUT.... it looks absolutely gorgeous outside. The fresh snow sparkling in the bright sunshine. Amazing.... It certainly is beginning to look a lot like Christmas :-) You may remember my poinsettia card for the Paper Players challenge last week - you can see it here. Well, I loved the idea of it - and the layout so much... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's my pleasure to host our final Paper Players challenge of 2016. I decided to go with a color scheme that I use a lot at New Year - I love the crispness of the white with the cool of the silver and the warmth of the gold. I've also been known to use this color scheme for Christmas dinner table settings :-) I had this idea going around in my head to use the poinsettia from the Poinsettia and Pines set to resemble a bow on a gift box. So, I heat embossed the poinsettia... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Nance's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a theme for us - and one that is perfect for me today as I look out of my window and watch the snow slowly fall :-) We had 3 inches of snow overnight and it looks so beautiful outside. It truly is a winter wonderland! So, today's theme really is perfect and I hope you are inspired enough to play along with us this week. I decided I wanted to make a floating snowflake so die-cut two from Silver... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Sunday. It's the fabulous Sandy's turn to host our Paper Players challenge this week and she has a great sketch for us. I had so many ideas for this sketch, but in the end decided to focus on a set from Altenew called Vintage Teacup. I am an avid tea drinker. Yes, I do drink coffee - but only cappuccino and - horrifyingly for the Italians - only after lunch! In the morning - tea is MY drink and my day doesn't start without a good pot of tea. I am also, admittedly, fond of a cup... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. It's my pleasure to host the Addicted to CAS challenge this week and we are celebrating our 4th Birthday celebrations. This is an amazing milestone for our fabulous challenge creator - and stamp store owner - Kylie. Congratulations Kylie and thank you so much for having me along for this wonderful ride. As this is such a momentous occasion, I chose a very fitting code word for the challenge this week :-) As this is a major milestone for us, we are lucky enough to have multiple sponsors that are helping us celebrate - and offering up -... Hi Everyone. From our home to yours - a very happy Thanksgiving. Lou and I hope that you all have a wonderful day surrounded by the love and warmth of your family and friends. Let us all give thanks for the farmers, growers and pickers who help to keep our tables provided with food throughout the year. It is also a good time to give thanks to all those people who make our lives a little better. As Lou and I are both vegetarians - I couldn't help but share this little piece of vegetarian humor. I'll be back tomorrow... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Wednesday Well... the title of my post might be Snowy Hamlet (because that's the stamp I used on tonight's card), but it also perfectly describes our little neck of the woods. We had about 4 inches of the heavy wet stuff yesterday and the world looks so magical. I am hoping to get outside later to take some photos to share with you. I saw this Penny Black stamp as a recommendation on Amazon whilst I was buying something else and immediately fell in love with it - must be the fact that I am in the... Continue reading

Hi Everyone. Happy Monday. Hope you are all having a great start to your Thanksgiving week! I got time to play in my craft room this weekend and played with some new goodies. One of them was my new Vintage Teacup set from Altenew. As an avid tea drinker, I knew this set was a must have item for me as soon as I saw the pre-release. I saw this great color challenge across at Just Us Girls and decided it was perfect for me to ink up this new set. The "gold" in the color challenge gave me the... Continue reading
