No one is forcing anyone's hand here. If one does not like the open source software freely provided to them, one is not required to use it.
Short of constructive criticism, the only other thing people should be saying to RJBS is "Thank you." The original poster's comment lost it's capability to be constructive when the question began with "why" and the commentary continued with criticism of how RJBS should give his time away for free, to better benefit said poster. After all, it would only take a little of RJBS' time to help him.
Did you even bother to look at the sheer amount of code RJBS contributes to society for free; the amount he maintains; the amount of other peoples' code he has taken responsibility for and updated as time has permitted? He certainly wouldn't mention this himself because he's a better person than that, but it seems something that should be pointed out on his behalf.
The audacity of the original poster and this comment is not only mind boggling, but down right offensive.
