Most folks who have grown up in Christian homes have been exposed to prayer, maybe even taught some prayer. Prayer is part of the culture - the Christian culture. Unfortunately, prayer that is cultural and not based in faith sound sand feels empty. At some point, people praying in this... Continue reading

In this time of natural disasters, economic collapse, global violence and threats of terrorism, many people are leaning heavily on prayer for a sense of security. Many are praying Psalm 91. "That sounds good," some say. "But where did this passage come from? How can I trust it?" Fair question... Continue reading
Psalm 91:3 is about snares. What kind of snare? Each of us is ensnared by one trap or another as some point in life. Seldom are those traps the metal type for catching animals. These snares are more subtle, much more subtle. Subtle, but effective. Any trap that limits your... Continue reading

Another Look At Prerequisites Psalm 91 is brimming over with promises of protection and blessings from Heaven. But this is not a free-for-all. To be eligible for those blessings and protection you need to qualify. Psalm 91:1 tells us that you must abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm... Continue reading

Of all the serendipities of God! I am in Kona for a couple of weeks with a church five doors down the street. The sign in front of the church says, "Building a Culture of Faith." Of course, I had to give it a try and am so excited about... Continue reading

Psalm 91:13 has gotten me stirred up a bit. Read this whole post and see if you don't get stirred as well. The verse reads: You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra. The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. The writer who penned this Psalm would certainly understand the current catch phrase "crush it". Young David knew all about "crush it". He had overcome the lion in his shepherding. Goliath was next on his hit list because David understood that it was not he, but God, who provided victory. And, no enemy is too big for God. Continue reading
Psalm 91:2 highlights the Secret Place. Dwelling in the Secret Place, coming to a place of intimate and personal relationship with the Almighty brings you to a new level of faith. You trust Who you know. You have faith in Him who has your back. This is an enviable position... Continue reading

Psalm 91:12 In their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against a stone. To continue from my previous post (Psalm 91:11 - Angels Guard) of learning to deal with the reality of angels I must tell you of my next experience. Not long after a... Continue reading

Psalm 91:11 took more of my time in prayer and study as I worked on the No Storm Too Great project. In the NKJ Psalm 91:11 reads: For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. As I worked with this Scripture, I... Continue reading
Psalm 91:1 sets the course for the rest of the Psalm. It lays out a primary requirement for experiencing the blessings described in subsequent verses. That requirement is to dwell in the shadow of the Most High. What does dwell mean in this context? If you seek to experience the... Continue reading
If you have not had experience with praying Scripture before, this podcast will put you on the map. Moving into such a powerful prayer form is simple but takes a bit of consistent time. But then, isn't that a requirement of most things of value? Follow along with these steps... Continue reading
Psalm 91 can be used as a prayer for protection. It can also be listed as one of the prayers for strength. Brimming with promises of protection and blessing, Psalm 91 begins with a prerequisite: abide, dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High. Let this encouraging podcast get... Continue reading

God is wanting you and me to feel at home in His secret place, in that place where we abide in Him. This kind of rest, peace, assurance can only happen when you take the leap to fully trust in Him, to make the decision that Father knows best. "Oh dear! Is that really necessary?" Yes! Especially if you are interested in experiencing what the Lord offers you in Psalm 91. Continue reading
99.2% of the words on the blog post are from me...the book of Jeanie. The words on the video are a modern day interpretation based on the King James Version. I spent 5 months studying the context and word meanings of Psalm 91 before writing the No Storm Too Great prayers. I used the Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament, Colin Brown's New International of New Testament Theology, the Strong's and a number of other dictionaries and commentaries. My goal was to maintain the truth of the Word with the richness that would have been understood by the original listeners. This is pretty much the same process followed by those who assembled the Amplified Bible...a process that is extremely helpful if you are using Scripture to open you up in prayer. Where one word or phrase does nothing for you, the slightly different version of those words or prayers can grab you at the core and propel you into ten minutes of prayer or dialogue with the Lord.

Psalm 91 is a popular sermon topic. The only problem is, you have to be there to hear it. I would imagine that every week there is a sermon preached on this topic somewhere in the world. If only you could be there! Well, I have found a couple of places where sermons are available online. Continue reading

You've probably read and recited Psalm 91 many times in your life, but have you tried praying it? Most people haven't After learning to pray Scripture myself and experiencing the power of it, I was excited to have others learn to pray in the same mode. All of my adult life I've taught in some fashion or another so you would think this would be an easy do. Not so! Continue reading
