I want to eat all of the shoes.
no one else can fill your shoes.............
Keeping with the theme of tonight's class I decided to make shoe sugar cookies for the treats. And for the first time instead of name tags I made each girl this dress cookie with their names. The sweet tags I tied on to each cookie are from Michaels and then I had to do a l...

On my Pfaff, the foot pedal let down the presser foot, so I didn't need it, it is still strange that it came with one. I am getting used to it on the Juki, which I am loving.
Sewing Machine Talk
I bought a new machine and I want tips/advice. What should I know about the Juki TL-2010Q? ...besides the fact the the model name sounds like a droid from Star Wars or something. I'm going to try the knee lift, I never used it on my old machine. I'm currently winding bobbins and finishing bloc...
I like that, too! It's not a bad machine, we shall see...

I bought my tray at Target, they sell them individually.
WIP- String-Pieced Blocks
I'm working on a quilt that I've put off for a while... After cutting forty-nine 11x11 paper foundations and hundreds of fabric strips, I grew tired of it. This will be a quilt for my 13 year-old sister's double bed, to coordinate with her room. Well, now that I've put together so many block...

You can dance.
I'm a big fan of sparkle and shine, but I've been slow to get on board the sparkly fabric trend. I love a challenge though, so when I started seeing Michael Miller's Mirror Ball Dot fabric pop up in my local shops, I thought it was a good time to give it a try. The Mirror Ball Dots have...
Thank you! I'll post pics as I wear them with a little more detail.
Washi What?
Last summer, I bought Rae's Washi Dress pattern, printed it, and never thought about it much. I adored every one that I saw on Instagram and after six months (and leaving QuiltCon ready to sew), I declared that Wednesdays in March would be "Washi Wednesday." As I prepped the PDF pattern, I tho...
I read AskMoxie while pregnant (still do occasionally) and I like Free Range Parenting. I have not read the book that you have, but I've heard of it and I feel it's all you need. So much is trial and error, but sometimes, you do get good ideas from others, which is where Moxie is handy.
Bringing Up Bébé
Bringing Up Bébé: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting When American journalist Pamela Druckerman has a baby in Paris, she doesn't aspire to become a "French parent." French parenting isn't a known thing, like French fashion or French cheese. Even French parents themsel...

I may get those drawers! My room is a continuous work in progress! Your space looks great!
Bringing a little order to my life
I've spent the past couple of months sorting through every last thing in my sewing inventory and trying to make some sense of it all. I got rid of yards and yards of fabric that represented so many good intentions but it was time to be honest with myself and pass it on (to other people with goo...
Woohoo! I can't wait to get a copy! I love that plaid skirt so much! Congratulations, Jona!
BOOM! That was the sound of my book launching!
Today is the day! After nearly 2 years and countless tears my book is now available from Stash Publishing! Now you can wait a couple of weeks to get it from Amazon but then that's two weeks without a new, amazing skirt (you decide). But you can take a peek at the inside over at Amazon (read t...

I moved my sewing room into a studio space in the fall, it is pretty much done, but, I need to hang a shelf and make a few storage boxes, this is a great project! Thanks!
Boucherouite!
Boucherouite! Don't you love that word? Yeah, I had to look up the pronounciation myself. It's pronounced boo-shay-REET and it's a word derived from a Moroccan-Arabic phrase for torn and reused clothing. A Google image search of the term brings up tons of pretty eye candy. Speaking of eye...
Celebrate Handmade
Sigh. That 9 pound baby that I had a few days ago turned six. Her birthday was during the week, so this was the skirt for her day. She likes all colors, but, I don't do a lot of purple.... Continue reading

I'll be following this post, I'm tired of the irons woes!
Quest for fire, or at the very least some decent steam
You may recall, back in August, I purchased a new Rowenta Steam Station to replace the one I'd had since 2009. While the first one lasted at least 2 years before it started acting up I only got 4 months out of this new one. The seal on the steam tank stopped working and it hissed and leaked th...
New Clothes
It has been a long time since I've made clothes for E, I think December 2011 was the last time a sewed a frock for her. I haven't necessarily purchased more clothes for her, either, she has a lot of... Continue reading
