I LOVE our tuff tray. This was Miss O's main Christmas present when she was six months old, at Christmas 2015. It was my idea - all the little toys suitable for her age group we already had, and she was at the age of needing sensory play. But it... Continue reading

Well, aren't I lucky? It is true that it's not so much what you know, as who. A couple of weeks ago my sling library and allotmenteering buddy, Charlotte, tagged me in a post on a local babywearing site. Someone was looking for babywearing, blogging mummies. I fit that bill... Continue reading

I've been learning, recently, about the Danish art of Hygge. And about a week ago we had just the MOST hyggeligt day ever. It was a delight from beginning to end. A day of relaxing and enjoying the company of excellent friends. We went to visit our good friends, and... Continue reading

Thanks... I had a lot of fun getting creative with them!

Thanks, Mary. I love how our garden looks now... except the carefully treated hobbit hole has gone entirely black with mould. Ronseal have not been entirely helpful about it. I'm so disappointed that I'm going to have to sand down and re-treat the entire thing! But anyway, the layout of the garden I adore, and it's such an improvement. I really must get some varnish on the houses soon and get them up, to give the critters time to find them before the spring!

At the start of this year, having received a selection of birdhouse, bughotel and butterfly house, we had a motley crew of mismatched birdhouses and bugboxes. One was painted by Master R in bright orange and dark blue... none to beautifully. Three were painted the same colour as the fence... Continue reading

Hi Mary, It's so nice to hear from you and thanks for reading. I think my little people are pretty gorgeous and I am relishing these years, despite all the mess, tantrums and difficulties leaving the house (school run-wow). I hope they'll enjoy reading these memories as much as I do ^_^ Jen

This year has started with transition. The transition of our family, or the transition of me, at least. From Mummy-to-Babies to Mummy-to-Children. The past four years, well, five years really, have changed me. I transitioned from teacher and wife to pregnant woman and then mother. I have changed and learnt... Continue reading

Christmas in our house this year looks like this... Decorating. The winter stomach bug, which Master R had already endured, hit Miss O just as we were putting up the Christmas tree. My poor baby. Floppy, unhappy and ill. My heart hurt to watch her suffer. I wanted to take... Continue reading

The scene is a hallway. The shoestore is open and a harrassed looking woman is rifling through impatiently for a second red welly boot. A 17 month old girl-child is sitting on the stairs. The boy-child is off scene. Mummy: R--- I'm getting shoes out. I need you down here... Continue reading

Today we had a randomly lovely afternoon. Miss O, tired and teething, had a long tantrum which eventually ended in her breastfeeding to sleep, so Little R and I watched some dinosaur cartoons on YouTube to avoid rousing her. Then we talked about what to do next and Little R... Continue reading

Dear Little R, This being three business. It's not all superheroes and Nutella. It's a bit here and there. A bit up and down. Recently, more down than up, if we're being honest. It's bloomin' hard, isn't it? There are so many things you want to do so desperately. And... Continue reading

Dear Miss O, My talkative little toddler. Our engaging little explorer. How I am enjoying getting to know you. You are an astonishing mimic, parroting back complex words and phrases eagerly, gobbling up language so that you can tell us exactly what you think about everything (and you think a... Man alive, it's been a long time since I've managed to do a blog post. My time is pretty taken up with this at the moment. SUCH an exciting adventure I'm having with two baby wearing friends, inspiring, educating and enabling other parents on their baby wearing journeys. I've also... Continue reading

Hi Julie, I searched for the pattern on Ebay. I do remember it was a photocopy and not very easy to read due to bad photocopying! Hopefully you can find a better version, but they are hard to come by! Jen Sent from Outlook

Well hello! I think this may have been the longest break between blog posts ever... except maybe when I was feeling awful early on in Master R's pregnancy. What a summer we have had! I honestly think it's the longest, summeriest summer of my adult life. Partly, I think, because... Continue reading

This is a post I've been excited to write for some months now. It's been a labour of love. It's the story of how we changed our outdoor area from this: To this: Wow. I mean, I don't mean to be conceited, but we have made a HUGE difference and... Continue reading

Dear Little One, You are so small, and so utterly dependent on us. Me, in particular. I am sorry that I spend so much time complaining, to myself, to you and to others about what a challenge you are. You are you, and I love you entirely for it. I... Continue reading

Little O's 365ish Project - Update One Beautiful girl, in your birthday dress, just relaxing. Suspiciously. On this afternoon, we dashed out for some fresh air between the showers and found this little glade in a corner of our little village. Gently sloping grass and tall, tall trees. We were... 358-364/365 (No, I don't know what went on with my numbering either. Boddle.) "Pizza is nummy. Num num num." "Mmm... ice cream very good too. Keep it coming." You've taken to adorning yourself with necklaces and this is your favourite. The strap of the now three-and-a-half-year-old changing bag. Probably the... Continue reading

340-357/365 (minus 339 and 350) This adorable little face is your "brrm brrm" face. You suddenly love pretending to drive. You can say "brrm brrm" and "beep beep"! First day of our holibobs in Ibiza, and you were all dressed up for dinner! You woke up in the middle of... Continue reading

331-338/365 "How does this bike thing work, then?" Somebody tried to help wash the car. With her head! Multi-tasking as usual! Baby O decided to have a go at painting for the first time at toddlers. By "have a go", she meant eat it. I had to help to get... Continue reading

I've been meaning to write these stories down for some time. The idea has come to the forefront of my mind because with Baby O's first birthday coming up, I'm thinking nostalgically about this time last year. I like birth stories. I like hearing them. I like reading them. I... Continue reading

321-330/365 Yep, left for a moment at the sand table and you were having a good munch. You are absolutely determined to eat non-food items. In fact, you seem to prefer them to actual food. For example, after refusing breakfast one morning, I caught you chowing down on a pine... Continue reading

308-320/365 "Risky? Nah, this is fine, Mama!" (I have a photo on another day of you STANDING on the train!) Bouncing baby in the sun. Eyeing up all the exciting things the toddlers are up to and making plans. My blossom, looking for blossom at our local wood. Loved this... Continue reading
