No fridge? Just get a second fridge, for beer only. That's what we did. What? #beerworldproblems
Further adventures in Homebrewing
It was warm on the patio, and a gentle breeze stirred the trees in the back yard. The Postal Service played on the Sonos. A Stone Pale Ale sat on the patio table, condensation beginning to bead up on the neck and run down the bottle. Next to it, the 10 gallon cooler I’d turned into a mash tun wi...
Dude. Just wait till you convert to the keg system. You will be assimilated. Bottling is futile. (sort of)

We're homebrewers here too. Went recently from the bottling process to a kegging operation. Actually if your genius son wants to make his own recipes, he should be able to without much mishap, especially if you do an easy basic one first (like you are). It's basically adding stuff to a basic concoction.
We've done some really crazy recipes that ended up surprisingly good. And we like to make up clever names for them too. Like the time we made a watermelon lager and called it "Gal-lager."
(get it?)
Oh, cider is also fun and yummy.
Have fun! ~Jenn in Boulder (the capital city of micro- and home-brewing...)
In which my son and I make our own beer
Ryan is going to be 22 at the end of the month. For those of you who have been here since I wrote the 13 on 31 post, you now know how I feel every single day. The rest of you can get off my lawn before I call your parents. So the other day, he and I were having a beer together, and Ryan said, "W...
I tried ordering MOTF Pt 1 twice with my device and once with my computer. I want the book, but am running into brick walls. I guess I just have to live with the wonderful MOTFuturecast. I love the podcast so much, but it's too bad, as I know I'm missing all kinds of content. I wish Lulu would let me order the d*** thing...
I really, really, REALLY hate DRM. Especially when it screws honest people.
I'm sure that many of you know that I hate DRM so much, it makes me want to punch babies. I have promised that I will never knowingly infect anything you buy from me with DRM. So you'll probably be as surprised as I am to learn that Lulu put Memories of the Future, Volume 1 into the iBook store ...
Oh yes, awesome, I see that now. Whew! I was getting worried...
shameless self promotion
It is said that an artist's works sell as well as the artist promotes them. I struggle with this reality, because while it's simple and enjoyable for me to link to my wife's friend's store, or my friend's wife's Etsy shop, it feels weird and kind of gross to me when I promote my own stuff. But I...
I know I may get nerd-tomatoes thrown at me, but whatever happened to Memories of the Future Volume 2? The first volume was delightful.

You know, you're so right. I have readers that don't comment on my own site, and it's so true. Keep writing for us though Wil, we are here, and we read it all.
Point me down the right line because it's time

I'm a lurker too. Not now. Chris is so right--you so need to do his podcast! And you are a vile torturer for not letting us know what this project is that you were auditioning for!!! (Okay I understand why, but it's still torture, dammit!)

Also, I will be teaching an Art and Interpretation class soon, and that's usually when I get the creative discipline down--I try to do the creative assignments I assign my students. ;)

Remember in elementary school when we had All Day Reading Day? We'd show up in PJs or similarly comfortable clothing, sleeping bags and pillows in hand, and we'd read. All. Day.
I decided recently to give myself an All Day Reading Day. I didn't even turn on my computer. I read all of Stephenson's Snow Crash and a little Sherlock Holmes that day, and I must say I was more than refreshed the nest day when I logged on to my blog and feeds. It's so worth it.

on the benefits of being unplugged
There's a saying, possibly apocryphal, that actors act for free, but get paid to wait. If you've ever spent any time on a set, this will probably make a lot of sense to you; a day on the set usually features extended periods of boredom, punctuated by brief moments of terror -- oh, wait, that's s...
