I love all of this, Rebecca. I've never heard of that kind of rocker. I can't imagine anything more charming.

(The porch wants painting, I know. I'm hoping that's on the agenda for this summer.) This time last spring, we planted 48 strawberry seedlings that were no taller than my thumb. We were told by the friendly older Amish man who sold them to us that we should pinch off the blossoms that f...
The Gift of an Ordinary Day makes me sad too. I have to be very careful to avoid things like that.
I made the Family Reunion Dress last week. I'm not sure it's going to be written into a post today, but I have high hopes. I'm craving scrappy patchwork in a big way. Summer time always puts me in a quilting mood.

. . It's nearly spring recital time, so "sewing" looks like this around here today. I admit; I kind of love this kind of "to do" list. I've been reading Shakespeare with the kids this week. We're loosely following this plan. I love this plan. I loved it when we wrote and love it even m...

That tea cozy is AMAZING! Cutest ever. Seriously. Well done, Lydia!!

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~ Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter! {pretty} Pretty is my new hobbit hole tea cozy that Lydia made for me. It's made with bits and pieces of felted wool sweaters, with ever so many French knot flowers and other sweet ...

Congratulations Mary Lou! It is an odd thing. I would very much welcome more but feel fine with three all at the same time. It's a new and odd feeling, contentment. ;)
One.
In a dark, quiet room one year ago (yesterday), we welcomed our precious third child. A mere twenty minutes after arriving at the hospital, she was delivered by my husband and one nurse. She was our earliest and tiniest baby. I repeated over and over, "Can I hold her?" And I did, right away. ...

I saw that you were spinning, Sara! I miss it so much! I haven't spun anything in exactly a year.
Restyled
I've been hitting the children's closets hard this week. Parting with their outgrown clothing is always difficult for me, but it has to be done. I cannot keep several bins of baby clothes PER CHILD solely for sentimental reasons. Getting around this, I've been sorting into 3 piles: keep, sell/...

Thanks, Cheryl. I was scared to even tell you I was tempted to learn but after seeing N in your smocked dress all year, I think I'll have to try! We'll miss you but I'm so glad we're FB pals so I don't have to miss you too much.
First Week at Home
Remnants of my daughter's bouquets from her spring performance. Another good year completed. Experimenting with lemon bars. So far the whole lemon recipe in the Smitten Kitchen cookbook is the winner, but summer hasn't even really started yet. (The one from her website, adapted from an ...
It is, Donna! My son gives me several each Mother's Day and birthday. They are my happy bowls too.
Morning Blackberries
Every now and then I wonder if blogging isn't just a giant waste of time for someone like me who (look away, husband) has no interest in monetizing. But it makes me so happy to see the same posts appear year after year. Today, I waited patiently for my son to awaken and led him sleepily out in...

I prefer wild over cultivated when it comes to flowers but could not be more smitten with my new addition to the garden. Summer is settling in here and it's been amazing so far. I'm going to the grocery store and preparing meals for my children. The baby has the opportunity to nap. The hou...
Thank you, Mary Lou! How sweet. I think the stress would creep back in too. My nieces and nephews attend school and my sister seems just as stressed as I am!

I do know what you'd say, Kimberlee! :) And I wish I could just do it. We're going to take a deep breath and evaluate what is best for the whole family. It feels like we're having to choose between my sanity or my daughter's passion.

It's complicated. Since we homeschool, we have built my 12yo's group of friends through ballet. It's a great school with unique opportunities and a healthy philosophy for young girls. It also overlaps with our church community quite a bit. It's just really far away! I would love to just switch schools but we've invested a lot there... :/

So happy for you all!
Pardon the interruption,
but we have some good news:-). So the blogging schedule for the week is pre-empted. Yesterday, a little after 4:00, I was sitting at the dance studio, merrily uploading State Cup pictures from the weekend. Sarah was dancing. Katie and Karoline were playing with the delicious baby who belongs to ...

Cute top!! I love it with the capris. My little girl has 2 inches on me now. :/. I have a lisette pattern for older girls but I haven't sewn it yet. I've had trouble with Kristen too- the names trip me up.

I love to sew with Oliver + S patterns. For over a year now (almost two years?), I've been telling you I learn something new every time I use an Oliver + S pattern. I've lost count of the times I've used the free Popover Sundress pattern for both girls and dolls. So, what new could there po...
Ah, I think of you, Sarah. I hope you find a good rhythm soon. I grew up with six and it was frantic but so wonderful. We're all the best of friends now.

Yes! Frozen pizza and chicken nuggets. Bleh! It's so depressing. Thank you for letting me know it was the same for you.
