So glad you had a good time. And also so sorry I missed the show. Next time I'll be ambulatory.
title of the blog post
When I was reading back through my archives in preparation for Wil Wheaton versus Paul and Storm last week, I thought, more than once, "I really need to write more." Each time, though, my calendar grabbed focus and shouted at me like Jules in Pulp Fiction until I begged it to stop. I miss writin...
I too have been feeling a bit resentful about the last 8 years. I just have to keep telling myself that if we *hadn't* been forced to live with Bush in office for that long, we may not have Obama now.
I just hope it turns out to be worth the price.
"...or else we didn't win anything at all."
I went to a local park and had lunch with a friend of mine today. It’s beautiful here, but we can tell that it’s Summer’s last attempt to hold Autumn at bay, and we’ll be suffering through the misery of sixty degree afternoons soon enough. There’s even rumor of an inch of rain before the end of ...

Not livin' in CA, but rooting for you all the same. Defeat 8!!
Californians: Vote NO on Prop 8
Proposition 8 and the people who support it disgust me. Want to know why? Replace every instance of "same-sex marriage" with "interracial marriage" and see how bigoted and discriminatory it is. Here, these guys have done it for you: I can't believe it's 2008, and this is still an issue....

This is why I never open my mouth when famous is near. If ever you see a female standing about 25 feet from you, staring like a stalker? That'd be me. LoL
in which i fail a vital saving throw
It was the end of the day, and my blood sugar was dangerously low. Colors and sounds were louder than they should have been. My feet and legs had been replaced by two dull, throbbing stumps that barely supported the weight of my body. Most of the day, I'd been signing autographs for and talking ...

Nice work. And that is a pretty good show, I'll definitely look for you. Thanks for the lesson. I think we all need it once in a while even if we're not actors.
the pretty white ships that i've been dreaming of
I haven't had a theatrical agent for years, so I don't have as many auditions or opportunities to work as an actor as I once did. I have a fantastic manager, though, who always gets me into quality auditions, where I have a real shot at booking the job.[1] My manager and I have an understanding ...

I have to admit to being humbled by Rockband's awesomeness. My husband, who makes his living as a musician, was in the garage with his partner (also a professional musician) playing Rock Band with a couple of friends. They came into the house all happy, very self-satisfied grins on their faces. My husband says, "We just totally rocked out on Mississippi Queen!". I shook my head and said to them, "You know, you could all pick up the REAL INTRUMENTS and actually PLAY Mississippi Queen, right?".
They sort of chuckled and gave me sheepish grins but then Danny said, "Yeah, but it wouldn't be as fun". Everyone agreed.
I eventually agreed to play a couple of tunes and was converted. It's good to rock!
xkcd addresses the rock band haters
Last night, Ryan and I played Rock Band for a couple of hours, taking turns playing guitar and drums. We're both sore today, and it was entirely worth it. The point isn't to play real instruments. The point is to pretend that you're in a rock band, and have fun while you do it. Our final...

Woo!
stats
According to Feedburner, about 30,000 individuals have subscribed to my RSS feed. According to Typepad, about 500,000 people actually come to this site every month. That's awesome. Thanks for reading, everyone.

Wow...that is so cool. I wish I had been old enough to see Floyd in their hay day. Although I caught an amazing you tube of them doing Comfortably Numb recently (in London?) Freakin' A! Those ol' boys can still rock the house, by god. They really were engineering geniuses of the time, too, eh? That documentary says it all.
So glad I'm not the only Floyd geek left. :)
the sun is eclipsed by the moon
The first time I heard Pink Floyd, I actually thought it was Rick Dees. My mom was driving me to work on a movie of the week, or a commercial, or some other acting job, and I was excited -- as always -- to stop at McDonald's for ultra-processed breakfast "food" while all my friends were in schoo...

Personally, I am always interested in your stories about life, family and growing. They just never get old! I can't wait for the new book...and I'd even take it with the parts that you don't think are "up to par"...just to have more to read.
Wait..did I just admit that size matters?
(you can do eet!!)
about that new book . . .
I've been working on a new book for a few months now. It's a follow-up to Dancing Barefoot, which was a short collection of stories that I and readers of my blog enjoyed, rather than a follow-up to Just A Geek, which was a longer memoir. I thought this would be really easy, but it's actually bee...

You're so adorable in that interview! You family guy, you!
*slurp*
all you paid was the looking price. lessons are extra.
Cincinnati Kid: You call that an argument? Slade: No, that's a fact. The argument's leaning over there against the door jamb. <!--Warning. Poker Content Begins--!> The World Poker Tour Invitational was a great event. There were tons of celebrities there, including some actors I really respect an...

Well, I am a gaget lover. I love it when I get my new phone every two years, and get to read the manual and learn how it all works. But I'm not enough of a geek to get into all the high end audio gear, televisions, or gaming equipment.
With that said, I would like to comment that you, Wil, make even the mundane entertaining. LOL While dropping the f-bomb a few times is always good for a laugh, you also entertained me by being completely natural on the screen (well, duh) and also extremely well spoken about the gear you reviewed. Well played! I don't get to see enough of you on the screen. Heh.
InDigital Episode 10 - CES part 1
The latest episode of InDigital was released sometime between when I checked on Friday, and late last night when I saw it on our website. How's that for specificity? Yeah! I like this episode a lot. It's got some very funny moments, and the gadgets we looked at while we were at CES are either t...

Aw...that just made me all teary, right there. Very sweet story, Wil. Thanks.
peg eight for the bonding
When I was a kid, I played a lot of Cribbage with my dad on family trips. I don't remember much about the specifics of the game, other than feeling like I was playing a game that was so grown up and not winning very often, but I always looked forward to going camping with my parents, because tha...

That would explain the announcements every 15 minutes that airport security was at level ORANGE while we were there last night. They were very busy confiscating lip gloss. Next time I fly, I'm taking my vibrator that LOOKS like lip gloss, just to fuck with them. I'm bad, in more than one way, I suppose....
one more on airport "security"
For the folks who didn't see the forest through the trees when I complained about my latest interaction with stupid TSA security theater bullshit: Here's someone who climbs a fence at the Raleigh-Durham Airport, boards a Delta plane, and hangs out for a bunch of hours. Best line of the article:"I...
