"To me, it's more about no longer needing to think about memory as a scarce resource, something you allocate carefully and manage with great care. There's just .. lots." Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but I rarely ever see examples of programmers managing memory like that. The most common error handling routine for a failed malloc is to quit the process ([citation needed]), that is, if they even check for a failed malloc.
