I am in Atlanta, and the humidity is brutal. I played a singles match last night, and my clothes are still wet this morning.
I find it odd that the Atlanta tournament starts match play at 4pm. It is really the most brutally hot time of day.
It's Called Hotlanta For A Reason.
I cannot imagine playing in that Atlanta heat. The heat and humidity would render me a complete summer shut in. Then again, I'm a complete wuss. Summer in San Francisco means 64 degrees and partly cloudy. A Rod was able to gut out a three set win over Ramjet Rajeev after dropping the se...
Yeah, finally a tournament in my city, but it's hot, humid, and no one I really want to see that badly. I really got spoiled at Indian Wells this year.
I am sure it will be fun, just not as interesting as lots of other tourneys.
It Must Be Love...Again.
New USO Series commercials are out. Well..."new" is kind of overstating it. But even though they look and sound the exact same as last year's series, there are some gems. Here they are, in order of C Note entertainment value: Uh...that's pretty much it. The rest are pr...
I like your list. Other optinos are to drink every time:
- Rafa's fourth round upset from last year is mentioned.
- Someone uses the phrase "King of Clay" to describe Rafa.
- Fer looks like he's not sure where he is.
- Rafa picks his ass (you will be drunk for sure).
- Daveed sticks out his tongue.
- Masha gives another player a bitch stare.
- And ump gets down from the chair to check a line call.
"I Hate Uncle Jamie!"
I just want to take the time to issue a heartfelt congratulations to James LaRosa for successfully creating a drinking game that even Alcoholics Anonymous would endorse. In fact, I bet you they'll play this game at their next meeting. I'm calling dibs on their leftovers. What do I need...
It seems to me like Rafa is making two pretty valid points with this quote:
1) Being a favorite really means nothing.
2) Yes, he lost last year, and he addressed it before getting asked yet another question about it.
Air Quotes: Sigh. True.
“Am I favorite to win at Roland Garros? I was last year and I lost.” -- Rafa, after striking out Fed.
I was thinking the same thing. To each their own, but he is just not attractive IMO. Back to the Armada for me.
And In The Other Corner...
Hee. He can't even fill out a 'beater.
I do love the Olivia Newton John reference.
Hopelessly Devoted
Flavia and Olivia took the dubs title in Miami over NadSam, and they were *totally* adorable in their pure joy. This is why I can never really bag on Gisela. Any friend of Flavia's is a friend of mine. Trust Fall: You're doing it wrong.

At least Fer's look is better than last year's "gay skateboarding farmer" hot mess.
Oh, Jesus. We're In Miami, Aren't We.
Like death and taxes, you can always count on Aga to dress up as a hooker in Miami. So I've never been to Miami. All I know about it is what I see on TV or in movies. Oh, and the Will Smith song that I will not quote for yet *another* year in reference to this tournament. But from what I ca...
Oh, Justine! Someone needs to tame those eyebrows. And do something about that hair.
Pic This: Players Party Too.
Um...A-Rod and I share the same clothes and shoes. This is...awkward. Oh, are we wearing tapered pants now? Guess I should read my stacks of InStyle. I love how Kim always look like she just took a major bong rip. She's so boho. My boyfriend, ladies and gentlemen. He's an idiot. ...
I cannot imagine why she would choose to do something so completely random that involves having to touch other peoples' feet. At least she stocked up on the Hello Kitty supplies and cute scrubs beforehand.
Serena truly lives in her own world. There is no limit to her brand of crazy.
"You Want Some Water? Good, I Don't Have Any."
Serena is training to be a nail technician. You need 240 hours to get certified. Serena's done 3.5. Who wants to bet that she ain't gonna get close to 240? Thankfully she's blogging the experience. I want to go to Sanrio with Serena Williams.
The top of the shorts has a 4-5 inch band of green, but they are mostly navy. I think they are the same as what he wore in the AO.

FeVer Breaks Through
Finally. To me, the title was a bonus. Fernando was finally able to show that he can beat a top 10 player. The last time that seemed to have happened was when he kicked off his career surge by beating Muzz at AO 09. In fact, he came into this match with a 15 match losing streak against ...
Yay, I am so happy for Fernando!
I had really low expectations when he started the match with a double fault. However, he played pretty consistent, solid tennis throughout the match. I thought TED might reappear when he was 0-30 trying to serve out the match, but fortunately it did not. Go FeVer!

The old kids get it. Can you feel it, Fer?
Pic This: But Where's The Funky Bunch?
Do the kids even get the reference? (Thanks to Down The Line for the pic)
This just reminded me of every reason that I am not a Fed fan. He plays beautiful tennis. Whatever. Murray FTW!
10 Reasons Why You Should Root For Roger Federer
In the interest of being fair and balanced, here we go: 1. Because he wears shoes. 2. Because his fans are awesome. 3. Because he destroyed the spirits of Igor Andreev, Nikolai Davydenko, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. And as we all know, those guys totally deserved it. What assholes. 4. Beca...
It's not nice, but I kinda want them to get the stomach flu at exactly the same time. If no one can finish, then there is no winner, right?
I guess I am slightly in favor of Muzz winning. The dorky Swiss guy pics tipped the scale for me.
10 Reasons Why You Should Root For Andy Murray
Look, I get it. Not many people like the kid. But for one day, you should put that aside and actively root for him. And if you won't do it for me, your loyal blogger who has stayed up until 7am to bring you the funnies, then you should do it for the following ten reasons: 1. Because if M...
Now I have to try that at the gym tomorrow.
I am really surprised to see an Ana post without a comment from Curtis yet.
Pic This: At The Moment, Me, Myself Are Not So Good At Tennis
Ana's Spring "Me, Myself" Adidas campaign. They've done a pretty good job with the Adilibria line. It's like wearable Stella McCartney stuff. I tried doing this at the gym a few years ago. I fell and banged my head on some nearby equipment. So, you know, leave it to the pros, kids.
I caught part of the Feli vs. Querry match in Miami this year. I don't think I saw Querry hit a single ball. I could not stop staring at Feli!
Donkey Says...Feliciano Lopez
"Awwww yeah. This shit just got real, yo." (C Note: 3:50-4:05? I need a moment.) I highly recommend you let that run in the background as you scroll through this. Let's break him down: Those eyes. That chest... That ass... That tan... Those legs... That back... And that self-con...
Happy Birthday, Donkegrooming! This is the gift that keeps on giving for all of us.
Donkey Says...Evgeny Korolev
Known around here as "Baby Marat", says Donkey: "What? He's legal." Can't argue with that. He's a biter. Which...can be a good thing. He's super athletic. Speaking of biting, look at those forearms... Jesus. He's pretty. Oh fuck it. Why do I even bother. Evgeny is best seen ...
Do you think Fed realizes that Murray has beaten him four out of their last five meetings, all of which have been on hard courts? I guess it's fine that he says he doesn't mind the matchup. Whatever. Maybe he has the plan figured out, but the execution is another story.
Air Quotes: A Compliment, Federer Style
Oh, Fed. Just when I had decided to lay off you for a while... However, Federer believes he copes with opponents like Murray better than he did in his early days against men like Lleyton Hewitt and David Nalbandian. "I had a lot of trouble against those baseliners early on just because they...
I do, too. He comes across as such a nice guy. Of course, he not be at all, but I choose to believe he is.
Anyone For Tennis?
Cuz clearly the pros are vacation in NYC. A-Rod's off doing some cross training at Yankee stadium. Venus is busy stimulating the economy... ...and going on cruises. Masha's off celebrating the other Serena's 22nd birthday... ...and 's dorking it up while schilling her wares. (Th...
At least it's not last year's brown on brown UPS outfit.
Didn't We Do This Last Year?
TMF's USO kit. Stick with what works, I guess.
I would love to see Fed taken out by some random player, just not Fognini. That guy is creepy! I would prefer a pretty person.
It's Complicated
And thus my relationship with New York continues. Don't get me wrong. I love New York. All those epic quotes about how New York is the greatest city on earth? Don't be shocked if they come out of my mouth because I truly believe them. The food, the culture, just life in New York general...
I agree with both of you about Bodo's "journalism". Besides, what, exactly, is wrong with timing a comeback when you think the field may be down a bit (which is debatable)? Some would call it smart, while Bodo chooses to criticize such a "clever girl" (or 26 year old woman).
BTW, I am not a fan of Clijsters. I didn’t really follow tennis that closely before her retirement. I am just tired of seeing stuff like this from Bodo.
You Scheming Little Belgian, You
Ok, so with this whole Kim Clijsters comeback thing I've felt like a bit of bitch. I'm just not as excited as a lot of people are and one some level, I kind of don't care. Great, she's back. But let's see her play. But then I read stuff like this and I'm reminded that I'm not that bad. Beca...
Maybe he ran out of people to kick while they are down. You know how much fun that is for him.

Wow, I hope this is for real and there is a feed of the match. Oh, and I want them to play Nando/Feli.
"Let's Have Some Fun This Beat Is Sick, I Wanna Take A Ride On Your Disco Stick."
Whaaa??? Tom Tebbutt reports that Rafa and Nole are going to play dubs together in Cincy. !!! (Thanks to Clau for posting the link)
