Hi Gennie, thank you. Good catch on the missing step of adding the flour to the cake batter just before baking. I will fix it in the write-up.

Recently, I had the chance to take an after-hours tour of the new Alexander McQueen exhibit, Savage Beauty presented by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The tour was lead by the exhibition's dashing young curator, Andrew Bolton from the Costume Institute at the Met. Alexander McQueen... Continue reading

Firstly, I want to say that this cake recipe is not my recipe. I found the recipe on a blog named My Edible Memories, written by a very talented baker, Lucy. Lucy has created her own fabulous tutorial for baking this cake, which I would definitely recommend reading. My goal... Continue reading

Earlier this week, I was in the city for work and running early for my afternoon meeting. With extra time on my hands, I decided to do some browsing of the stacks of books at Kitchen Arts & Letters on Lexington Ave. between 93rd and 94th Streets. As a side... Continue reading

During our recent visit to Beijing, Joanne's parents were very kind to bestow upon me their collection of Mao Zedong badges and pins from the cultural revolution in China. The collection that they gave to me consists of over twenty-five pieces made from plastic, tin and porcelain. The majority of... Continue reading

Prior to leaving on our two week vacation to China I had composed some themes and concepts for a fashion editorial assignment for one of my classes at FIT. I enjoyed our vacation so much that I lost track of the assignment and it's due date. When I returned from... Continue reading

Hi Mel, Thank you for your comment. No one objected to any of the street photos because I never asked permission and mostly shot from the hip or from an angle such that it was not obvious that I was taking the person's picture. If I had been braver and asked permission there are a lot of much better shots that I could've had...oh well. Yes, in fact there is a fake version of the iPad along with a large number of differently sized and shaped Chinese no-brand Android tablets. I'm not sure I would trust the quality of any of them though. The electronics mall is definitely a fun place to browse, but I am wary of buying anything there.

The following are my favorite dresses from the 2011 Oscars. I almost always tend to prefer classic lines over daring shapes and I feel that Red, Pink and Beige are traditional old Hollywood colors that always look great. That being said, I think that there were some exciting and inspired... Continue reading

For a recent class assignment I had to pick my favorite designer/collection from the recently concluded Fashion Week in New York. My pick is Rag & Bone's Fall/Winter 2011 Ready-to-wear collection by designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright. The collection was shown Friday February 11th, 2011 at the Lincoln Center... Last week I visited the BALENCIAGA: SPANISH MASTER exhibit at the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute on the upper east side in Manhattan. This was a fabulous exhibit that was hosted in very beautiful and fitting space, occupying all three floors in the Spanish Institute's landmark neo-Federal townhouse. The exhibit was...
