I think Carol Mosley Braun has too much baggage, period. I also think that black politicians could learn a thing, or two from studying Obama's successful run for the presidency. Obama, while not denying his race, didn't make it THE central issue. And he kept his distance from black leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton because to non-black voters they are polarizing figures. Rahm Emanuel isn't running as the "Jewish candidate" and Daley never ran as the "Irish candidate." The city is a melting pot of races and ethnicities and in order to win a city-wide race you have to appeal to a wide cross-section of people, not just your "own" people.
I'm more offended that Hollywood continues to beat a dead horse with the "Meet the Parents" franchise. Enough already. The double entendre humor in the first movie, where the parents connect the fiance's last name, Focker, with their daughter's middle name, that was funny. But, like any good joke, it doesn't get better by beating it into the ground. The title of this movie tells me that there is nothing new and nothing funny in this one.
