The same logic would seem to suggest that there is nothing unpatriotic or "greedy" about public employees organizing and using every tool at their disposal to maximize the salary and benefits they can extract from the government, even in times of fiscal crisis, and even if doing so goes against the common good. I agree that Wonkette is being hysterical. But I just don't get why I'm supposed to be outraged that Wisconsin schoolteachers have not seen their benefits eroded like mine have been, but not be outraged that a phenomenally successful company like GE pays no corporate income tax.

One more application is that frequently on web sites, I want to find a "dead spot" I can click on just so I can give the browser tab focus, so I can then do something like type Ctrl-F to start a Find. With almost everything being clickable, this can be a surprisingly difficult task.

I think King sincerely holds his rigorous views on contracts. At the same time, I can't help but wonder if the tone of his commentary is somewhat colored by his being employed by a dying industry. If I had a contract with a print publishing company, I might have a particular interest in strengthening social norms around honoring contracts.
