Very odd. I've had my "34nm 160 GB Intel® X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid State Drive" since 5/18/2010, and it works like a champ. I use the Intel SSD Toolbox as well.
I have a cheap-o, Acer Revo AR1600-U910H (~ $199), added 1GB of extra memory ($24), and loaded XBMC. Plays 1080p on my 62" DLP with such glory I hear angels sing every time I watch a movie (and it's not just the speakers hissing). The trick is switching it to use hardware GPU acceleration vs. software.

You made me want to post the story of my Netbook (which I gave you credit for). http://www.cybertough.com/technology/ode-to-the-netbook/

I guess, based on your article, I need to significantly rethink my http://www.cybertough.com/technology/the-cost-of-friending/ blog. Perhaps there needs to be some benefit / cost-feedback component, which will be harder to measure.
