Almost 20 years ago, I met a man at a Young Republican club meeting. He was there alone and no one was talking to him. I introduced myself and we became great friends occasionally dining at his home or ours including multiple Thanksgiving and other holiday meals. What he taught me was one of the most powerful lessons I have ever learned. Vadim is from Russia. He had escaped with his mother and uncle. The hatred they hold for the communists who stole his birthright, ruined his country, and murdered millions was perhaps 50% as hot as their hatred for... Continue reading

Sadly, too many Americans struggle annually to wisely select their choices for public office. This has consequences for all of us. The problem is partially to do with the media, and partially to do with the influence of big money in politics, but the biggest problem is the sorry state of civics education. We are pounded with slick ads designed by consultants who believe they need to deliver messages on a fourth grade level. The battles involve shiny things; who will give them out and who will take them away. I have heard about way too many Missourians who lean... Continue reading

Missouri voters are a thougthfull lot. The "Show Me State" motto may not be as sexy as New Hampshire's "Live Free or Die" but it is incredibly descriptive of how most Missourians think. Like the Missouri Mule made famous world wide for unparallelled service in World War I, the Missouri voter will not be lead by cattle prod or a ring in the nose, but must be persuaded. This is why Senate races are almost always very tight contests and the McCaskill-Akin race is no exception. The latest investigation from Reboot Congress may hold the bad news the McCaskill campaign... Continue reading

If we are going to accuse anyone of implying there are "legitimate rapes" how about turning your guns away from Akin, the father of two daughters (and four sons) who is probably one of the cleanest members to ever serve in Congress, and look at Clinton and the Kennedy family, the ones the left holds up as the greatest defenders of women. Back when Congressman Akin and I served in the Missouri State House together, he was not known for being the biggest tech guy, but he definitely is a lover of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights specifically, even teaching in depth seminars on America's founding. So the patriot adapted, in the true meaning of the "living breathing Constitution. Internet Freedom is a Constitutionally proetected right, no matter what a leftist wants to tell you. disclaimer:I am certain the other two Senate candidates, Sarah Steelman and John Brunner would agree. Akin leads letter to Sec. Clinton opposing U.N. regulation of... Continue reading

Ok, shameless plug for my best girl. Please link it, "like" it, tweet it or otherwise share it, because the fruit of Gina's labor of love is born today. When the publisher, AMG established today as the date, who knew there would be so much excitement in San Diego surrounding the opening day of the 75th anniversary of the races at the Del Mar Thoroughbr ed Club. So when the bugler plays "Call to the Post" at Del Mar, you won't see Seabiscuit, but you may see Gina, probably on her phone doing one of about 20 radio interviews today... Continue reading

Admit it, you love rankings, at least when they are in your favor. This one was a huge eye-opener for me and there is a deeper political point. A couple of months ago, I was commuting back and forth between San Diego and Birmingham, as in "Sweet Home Alabama". You truly have to live in Alabama to understand why that moniker fits. So I was staying with a friend in San Diego, who I will not name, but he knows who he is. This former St. Louisan stands well over six feet tall, plays hockey regularly, and even electric guitar.... Ron Paul is not only wrong, he is dangerous, because his wrong ideas have chilling co-conspirators on the political left to which he adds millions of followers from the right. Ron Paul profers this idea, that somehow our position as "policeman of the world" is the reason we are attacked and that somehow terminating that role or being more of a mall cop than policeman is the simple and logical solution. Wrong! Ron Paul is clueless or willfuly and wantonly ignorant about history, and the change he seeks would create economic devastation in America, empower our worst enemies, and wreak... McGraw Milhaven is an iconic St. Louis media personality, and Dave Stokes, of the Show Me Institute is becomming a top pundit of center right thought in Missouri. Together, they will bring to the greater St. Louis area (AM550 has a huge reach spanning across most of the Show Me State) a weekly update of capitalist thought at a time that it is sorely needed. This will be great radio. Stokes will no doubt use the take no prisoners, Show Me Institute style we respect and hit the issues hard without regard to whether Democrats or Republicans are acting contrary... Continue reading

The reasons to replace Jax Nixon as Governor are numerous and valid, starting with his lockstep allegiance to public sector unions and opposition to the right to work, but those discussions are best held for another day. What is noteworthy in this cycle is that rather than the typical lineup of Republican politician versus Democrat politician, Congressman Lieutenant Governor or Auditor of one party versus Governor of the other, in this cycle, Missourians have tremendous and unusual options, any of whom hold the potential to be stellar leaders in stark contrast to the dearth of leadership from the play-it-safe Nixon.... The Wall Street Journal article speaks for itself. Kimberly Strassell reminds us that "Richard Nixon's "enemies list" appalled the country". There are few Presidents the left loves to loathe more than Nixon. From the article: President Barack Obama, the most powerful man on the planet, singles you out by name. His campaign brands you a Romney donor, shames you for "betting against America," and accuses you of having a "less-than-reputable" record. The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear:... Continue reading

I will lead this with the most unequivocal disclaimer I can offer. As I have written before, all three candidates for Senator, Akin, Steelman and Brunner have credentials that should exite any true conservative and any one could be a great Senator, certainly as opposed to the pretender, Claire McCaskill. She is the one who endorsed Obama early over Hillary Clinton. For this reason, coupled with my sense that despite my long friendship with Todd and his amazing family, setting my personal bias aside, I cannot see a path to victory for the U.S. Senate for the less well-funded of... The Blaze ran a story entitled "Is This Iowa High School Teaching Students Communism Is Better Than Capitalism? See the Flyer". The article posts a picture that is clearly propaganda for communism but the school principal defends that they were using it as an example of propaganda and that the whole lesson plan is objective. This is a fair point, but wrong. The school, the teacher, the principal, all are unequipped by the sorry state of civics education to even know leftist propaganda when they see it. The most offensive part of the lesson is not the picture, it is... Continue reading

Yesterday, Gubernatorial candidate Bill Randles put out a bold statement on theneed for a right to work law in Missouri. It seems his opponent in the GOP primary, Dave Spence, is also a supporter of all Missourians having the right to work without being forced into a union. Good for Spence! From the AP, delivered by NBC Action News: JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - St. Louis businessman Dave Spence says he is entering the Republican race for Missouri governor. (sic) Spence is the president and CEO of Alpha Packaging, which makes plastic bottles, and also chairman of Legacy Packaging. He... Continue reading

Guest Contributor, Bill Randles The state of Missouri has a fundamental economic choice to make. Will we pursue a proven path to prosperity or continue to sacrifice the economic good of all to pander to a small special interest group? If Missouri does not become a right to work state its economic decline will continue. There are two types of states in terms of labor laws. Missouri is one of 27 states that is a “closed shop” state. That means if you wish to work in a business that is already unionized, you must join the union to get a... Continue reading

Breaking: Presidential candidate, former United States Senator Rick Santorum is taking a detour from the early primary states that count and showing some love to the Show Me State. This makes him the first Presidential candidate to do so. With Speaker Gingrich deciding not to compete, dismissing the non-binding primary as a beauty contest, the Missouri Primary is the first chance for Santorum to go head to head with Governor Romney as one of the elite three to win any of the first three state contests. Sorry Congressman Paul. This may prove to be shrewd move. A victory, while symbolic... Continue reading

Because you probably won't see this candidate's response in any other media: Randles Responds to Nixon's State-of-the-State Address Liberty, Mo., January 18th, 2012 -- Bill Randles released a written statement today in response to Governor Jay Nixon's State of the State address given last night. "Last night Jay Nixon delivered his fourth State of the State Address. It was simply more of the same failed policies that have placed Missouri near the bottom in every measure. His governorship has been one of failure in every category. He claims Missouri is a business-friendly state, but a study released by the U.S.... Continue reading

A good Jewish friend of mine once answered my question as to why Jews voted so consistently for Democrats despite the abysimal record of Democrats regarding Israel. All he could say was that their ratio of real intelligence to political intelligence represented the greatest deviation possible. I just received this from my friend Gary Silverman. If you are seeking a finanical planner, I will be happy to connect you and reward him for sharing this gem. An economics professor (sic) made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That... Continue reading
