Free Bradley? Well, I take one but where to park it. Anyone knows where to get cheap 25 MM Ammo? :)
Free Bradley Manning at Meade
Not actually giving away free samples, just whining that treason is not important enough to lock someone up for. Friend of UJ and the site "the One-Eyed Jack" took one for the team and drove through the gaggle of dirty, nasty, patchouli-smelling hippies to give us this report. Here is a quic...
Exercises, right? I think that SEAL Team 13 just deployed.

USMC and Navy Training for the Zombie Apocolypse - For Realz
Over at the Christian Science Monitor, Anna Mulrine writes about a counter-terror exercise centered around a Zombie Apocolypse: That’s the latest training exercise that US Marines and Navy special-operations forces will be taking part in on an island off the coast of San Diego – starting on ...
Fun part, the libtards think that he did so well with that statement. It only shows that as a class, they are pretty ignorant of military affairs and no surprises there.
Mr. President, Is this naval game with China "Battleship"?
Over at Foreign Policy, John Arquilla - the professor and chair of the defense analysis department at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School - writes about Game Theory with regards to the state of our Navy and recent overly-confident statements by our own President. Instead of using complex algorit...

Sitrep, Sound-off
Hearing from a number of regulars that they are okay, but it would be nice if others could let us know their status. So, sound-off, and if you need help we will do what we can to link you up. For all, be aware that the damage may be worse than expected, and even basic recovery may be weeks. ...
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I think that everyone has made some valid points but no one had gotten yet the one that I consider the primary argument for an expanded navy. One that Romney as a bussinessman, instincvely understand.
When everything is say and done, we are an island-nation that depends in commerce for our livelyhood and prosperity. The free passage of the cargo that supports our lifeblood depends on a strong naval presence. There is no one else that had the resources to do so in the global scale that we need. Frankly, I don't believe that anyone wants the Russians or Chinese to assume that role. No when by example China claims the whole China Sea as their private lake and Russia plays blackmail with Europe natural gas supplies during the winter months.
Given that our need for a strong Navy is rather obvious. Even all those carriers are justified when you realized the dearth of US naval bases overseas from where we can ptoject our power. Having a carrier on the high seas means that you never had to ask for authorization.
Military Capabilities
Those of you who watched last night's debate saw the President deliver what he apparently took to be a stinging rebuke to his opponent. In fact it was a shocking argument. You mention the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, governor, we also have fewer hor...
Thanks, SGT. But I doubt that State collective intelligencia had become so enlightened.
Getting diplomats killed
The death of a US Ambassador and other Americans in an utterly predictable, predicted and preventable terrorist attack is a disgrace that Barack Obama and his team of soft power naifs cannot escape. Bob Woodward details just how directly Obama's policies and his team's desire to claim they vanqu...
Petraus is a professional soldier turned master spy not a politician. So he works better in the shadows. Anyway, we can assume that the same type of restrictive ROE that applied to the security detail probably was applied to the intelligence contingent. Who was that said that "Gentlemen don't read each other mail."

Gentlemen:
Please, let's remember Raven 42. MPs don't have any problems making the transition from cops to light infantry. The true is that they have always expected to do so if the situation warrants it. Better than sending infantrymen and suddenly expecting them to become and operate like cops.
If the Corps wants to centralize their MP assests for maximun effectivity in these budget concious times, more power to it. It also dovetails with their mission of trainers of foreign military forces. Now, they can also train their police forces.
Let's not forget that the Corps trained constabulary forces in the 20s and 30s in Central America and the Caribbean. Experiences that were captured in their famous "Small Wars Manual". It seems that their planned return to their roots is going full force.
On "Law Enforcement Battalions"
As a practical fact, the United States Marine Corps has found itself assisting local law enforcment agencies in places like Afghanistan and Iraq. They have been helping to train police and other security forces, and they have been actively engaged in policing actions -- everything from writing ...
Improntu opportunities for training can't be wasted.
After giving the lass, the hand signals for gas, gas, gas announcing it loudly. I will explain that this is a timed event and see if can she put on his M-65 Gas mask in the required 30 seconds. The rest of the MOPP posture is to your discretion based on current meteorological conditions.
PS:
A larger tip may be also appropiate. :)

Today I found myself trapped against my will at Bagram Air Base. As with all tourists, I went to the PX, ate at the Popeye's, and then went to get one of the world famous $30 massages. A 95 lbs Filipino woman came out and started the message. She was rough, but I needed it. As she worked on...
Funny thing, although this is a great video, when at first it come out. Many thought that it was unrealistic as Women Marines don't engage on amphibious assault training or other infantry related stuff. Of course, that was before recent announcements that make it seem eerily prescient.
So yes, I agree, great recruiting video.
New Marine recruiting video
OK, it's obviously not a recruiting video. But if the Marines promised me that Katy Perry would be my battle buddy, I'd sign up today. There is just something irresistible about a woman in a uniform with a weapon. And what is up with "Uncle Jimbo's Sin Palace"?
He probably think that draftees can be seem more readily as "victims" than members of the volunteer force, who to a man and woman do not, even if grievously wounded. Typical lib meme.
Stupidest reason yet to do away with the all volunteer force
Reason: Because its just too damn good and too damn successful. No. Really: Since the end of the military draft in 1973, every person joining the U.S. armed forces has done so because he or she asked to be there. Over the past decade, this all-volunteer force has been put to the test and has ...
Well, as the Corps prepare itself to become a space force, is doable to get female officers and others ranks into the infantry. Their delicate touch would wring maximum effectiveness from the Marauder fighting mechs. Plus it resolves the issue of new replacements when the nearest recruit depot is light years away from your outpost. And there is the corollary benefit of having someone that can mediate and diplo-speak to the odd alien that prefers peaceful dialogue instead of opening fire with a full barrage at the sight of our vessels.
I definitively called this a win and win situation.
So let's get into the bandwagon and support the gals.
USMC To Allow Females in Infantry School
Marine Corps Times has a story out today about the Marines allowing female officers to attend the Infantry School. ...It’s not immediately clear either what the next steps will be for those women who successfully complete the Corps’ infantry training programs. Marine officials at Quantico, who ...
Gentlemen:
Like you. I am appalled at our cut and run leaders. However, having being in Federal service since 1981 and a student of history. I can not really said that I am surprised. My only hope is that unlike our prior misfortunes in Nam, now we had a net that allows regular citizens like us to keep the true alive. So when the bastards try again to assume the mantle of national leadership, we can show them for the spineless curs that they are.
On the meanwhile, what above Pakistan?
The truth was that the war was never about Afghanistan. DELENDA EST NUCLEAR PAKISTAN!
Afghanistan and Honor
I asked a question at the end of the last post. The consensus from you ladies and gentlemen is... let it go. We've spent almost three thousand American, UK and NATO soldiers' lives there. That's a hard thing to walk away from. Not that you're wrong. I have never seen the high-percentage shot f...

The last time that Iran try to pull a similar stump in 88-89 during the Tanker war, after the Navy did its thing. The joke at the time was that if the Iranian Chief of Naval Operations wanted to inspect his fleet, he needed to rent a glass bottomed boat. Here to a repeat.
Iran threatens US carrier
In related news, fleas threaten dog and gnat issues warning to horse. But hey, who am I to mock some rattling of sabers butter knives. As McQ noted below, here is the threat that has US naval forces cowering. "I advise, recommend and warn them (the Americans) over the return of this carrier to t...
And a broken clock is right twice a day. The only thing that we need is a Ron Paul presidency that complete John Ringo's The Last Centurion scenario. Happy New year to all.
An act of war against Ron Paul
Ron Paul will never be President of the US, something we should all be profoundly thankful for. Matter of fact, the only real impact he could have on the race is to run as an independent and throw the election to Obama. There are certainly some principles of fiscal responsibility he has helped b...

Bogus gun statistics kill the truth
Did you know there is a nationwide rampage going on where crazed fanatics with concealed carry permits are slaughtering innocent citizens? Neither did I, but thankfully the NY Times is on the story. With their usual, thoroughly accurate, fact-checked, journalistic professionalism propaganda, the...
It also means that we double our force of carriers decks without spending a cent as the Lighting II with operational capabilities that until recently had been the province of carrier or conventional launched planes.
F-35B may be coming off “probation” and the Marines are “bullish” about it
You may not have heard the news that the F-35B, the Marine Corps variant of the next generation fighter which was put on 2 year probation by Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, is very near coming off that probation. And you may also not have heard that the Marines are very bullish on the aircra...
I just hope that this make it to production because I will love to see it in the big screen.
Could a Marine Expeditionary Unit Take Down the Roman Empire?
An interesting discussion going on at AskReddit about the comparisons.... Let's say we go back in time with a Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), since the numbers of members and equipment is listed for our convenience in this Wikipedia article, could we destroy all 30 of Augustus' legions? We'd...

DADT is Officially Over
Yes, some of us (including me) didn't really care about the repeal of DADT, but it still doesn't mean you can't laugh at some of this stuff. And it didn't take but thirty seconds for the Navy to have the first news story about a gay officer jumping out of the closet and getting married (nice go...
Thanks Billo, but these are the same people that discount the eyewitness accounts of the 100s of drivers that were passing by at the time. It don't fit the meme of their sick minds.
The Last Moments Of Flight 77
Integrated Consultants, Inc. has animated the final seconds of the impact of American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 as a fascinating exercise in forensic engineering. You must watch it here. For the brain-dead Truthers who insist a cruise missile hit the Pentagon,...
At the time it was believe that DC was going to be hit by Irene, so the Retreat Ceremony was moved earlier to get people home safe and under cover. Earlier that Saturday, the last remaining patients were moved to Bethesda instead of waiting for Sunday as it was originally planned.

So close and so far, sorry that I missed it. I could see the celebration from the windows above you. Where as a nurse, I was doing the same thing that I have done there for the last 29 years, taking care of our wounded warriors, our veterans and their dependents. Like thousands of our folks, I am moving to Bethesda to continue the Walter Reed legacy of care there.
Walter Reed closes- end of an era
Today was the official casing of the colors for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. An awful lot of military folks have moved through there over the years and have received some of the best medical care in the world. There may have been some glitches, but all in all it was a safe haven for our ...

Karzai's half brother killed in Kandahar

An Era Ends, A New One Begins?
A driving passion in my life has long been the multi-faceted world of aerospace. Planes and space (and space travel) held a fascination for me for almost as long as I can remember. Though not always talked about at home, I knew my Uncle Foster had been a Navy pilot lost in WWII and learned ...
