Many of you know I am not a big gadget person........when I find something that I think will be used a lot I will indulge and buy it.........so when Terri Brush was here a couple weeks ago to teach her weekend long classes we were introduced to this awesome Rhinestone Setter and I went crazy.......I know some of you are probably saying those things aren't new but this was the first time I had ever used one........one thing about this thing is you can use it on multiple surfaces.........the first class we made leather bracelets and the rhinestones worked perfectly... I found these under a stack of papers and need to do something with them........I don't know what yet but I am going to try and figure something out........old linen, soft velvet and a sweet photo of someone's relative........we will see Are ya'll keeping up with your 2017 planners? These gals made some of the sweetest Valentine Cards and made library pockets to hold them..........they painted, stenciled, glued, added gold leaf and added all sorts of red and pink ephemera...........they really turned out and was a fun relaxed evening.......we missed you Robn.....hope your feeling better......this winter has been hard on so many of our gals with every kind of illness........hope with our 80 degree weather tomorrow it will get rid of all these germs circling around! The little Valentine Box has feet...........this little project was from last weekend, the feet were missing but now she is all finished up. I hope the one she's going to likes it....... These gals had layers and layers of all sorts of paint, paper, stencil, stamps, washi, jewels and just about anything you can think of to finish off this Valentine file folder pocket with paper dolls.......the last thing that they did to finish it off was to sew up the pockets to hold the paper dolls and tags! Some of the gals had some extra name tags from past classes that they incorporated and stuck down into the pockets! Well another Valentine Pink and Red Heart class.........something about those two colors together makes any project sweet! These girls each were to bring their own frames and each one was so different in size, color and texture.......some even brought old Valentine's from family and friends.......so fun to walk around and see these sweet Valentine's! Bezels......... For me personally this was not the easiest class.......for some they were experts and did a great job. This is where the soldering practice really is important. Knowing how to just take it slow and know the iron and flux and how much how little and etc.........so if you have ever had a soldering iron in your hand you know what I am talking about. We painted, glittered and glued until these sweet little Valentine girls were finished..........how cute did these turn out? For those of you in this class tomorrow night Jan. 24 you will need your basic class kit along with a glue gun, glue stick, 3 different sizes of paint brushes( small round, flat angle and maybe a sponge brush if you have them) If not I will have several to share......a black fine pen like a sharpie, micron 005 or one of the signo ultra fine, like we use for doodling ......Cindy has those available if you don't have these.....I will bring those too if you all don't have any of these. Stuffed Red Peppers Since I don't eat red meat I have adapted this recipe with Ground Turkey! Yes, and you really can't tell the difference my family says so here is my easy recipe....... Brown your turkey with a chopped up onion, after this is browned......add rice....I cheat and buy this package and microwave it .......then add a can of drained corn and 1 small can of water chestnuts.....add enough tomato sauce to make the mixture stay together, this is when you need to decide how much salt and pepper to add, you can even use seasoning salt if you... For those of you who will be taking this Valentine Tray class you are responsible for the frame and glass.....I have found if you go through all of your old frames you will be able to come up with something or go to a local thrift store......now here is what you need to remember.....it needs a glass and it can be as ornate or plain as you like.....but if you want it painted it needs to be done before the class.......please make sure that it is no larger than 16x12 small is good but larger than that it gets to... If you are wondering if you can stitch or glue this project you can do which one you are more comfortable with.........I know some of you are a little hesitant on the hand stitching so if you are more comfortable to use glue that will be okay......you won't get the same look but it will still make a cute little pillow/banner for that someone special......if you haven't signed up for this class you still have time.
