( photo courtesy of the Whatever house) Love this watercolor in one of the rooms....... Finished this last night and let's just say I don't think I will do it again this size......if this is one of the patterns I will be selling I am going to reduce it. The background takes forever and like I said you have to keep adjusting the hoop and squash the yarn while you are going around the flower.......... my goal this week and next is to get these patterns all complete and ready to print so hang tight to those of you who... I still am working on the patterns for the punch needle and trying to get my act together on those.....here is one I am working on and hopefully will have finished tonight!!! This one is rather large so I will finish it and then size it down so it will fit into the 7" hoop while you work.....I made this entirely to big and have had to take out and punch the background and adjust to many times...... these... I have been working on some journals lately and decided instead of using binder rings I would get out my Zutter........kind of something I use to use all the time and had really put it up because rings were so much easier but I like the way the spiral makes it look a little more professional.....I will still make them with binder rings but just thought this was a great change....the last photo I did rings. Love making journals and will have some to sell soooooooooon! Continue reading

Never in a million years would I think a dog would be my namesake or Girdie's namesake..... and isn't she a little cutie.......My friend Nan is a basset lover. The past several years she has lost a couple of her 4 legged friends. But now has a new 7 week old. When Nan was here in April she told us all that her family could not agree on her name......then one day she called me after she returned to Utah and surprised me by saying that "Girdie" may be the name of their new puppy.....well Hello Little Miss Girdie! Well... Continue reading

To give you a the info about the quilt in the above photo let me tell you just a little about the man who built the resort we stayed in at Gateway Canyon Colorado. John Hendricks is the creator and founder of the Discovery Channel. He and his wife both are big collectors. John has a Classic Car Museum on the grounds that is world known......I didn't get any photos of the cars but one of the reasons this group went, was the museum. His wife is a big quilter. Every year in April she has a 5 day retreat... Continue reading

Every summer Tom has a business meeting somewhere in the US.........this year it was in Gateway Canyon Colorado.........on the Utah Colorado border in the southwest part of the state. Very different from the trees and mountains we are use to and what you think.....more desert looking like Utah/Arizona/New Mexico........and really HOT! But we had a great time relaxing, riding bikes and eating delicious food. It is so remote we never left the resort the entire week, which was okay. The closest town is Grand Junction which is north and going south is Telluride..........we are home now and so glad we... Continue reading

Stephanie's online class " Dainty Dioramas" was just I needed to get me in gear for the summer.....as always I don't like just making one.........many of you know I have always been a huge shrink fan and love learning new techniques and how to incorporated these tiny little things into something fun to share with all of you! I have more but did not want to get to carried away. Along with the boxes and bottles I made a few brooches to add to the whimsy............ Hope you all are enjoying your summer and I will be try to keep... Continue reading

Well people it's a beautiful day today in Oklahoma.......the sun is out, there is no wind and my peonies are blooming.......a couple of them were leaning so I just needed to cut a few more to bring in and enjoy! And if you are wondering why my bike is in the front entry is yesterday I took it for a little ride and the garage door was already down so decided to just put it inside for now....and it made for a good back drop for this photo! Not to much going on around here so this weekend I needed... Continue reading

A few weeks back when our friend Nan from Utah ( and OKC) was here to teach her incredible stitch class at the Paper Crown had this awesome bag to hold her stash of threads, pins, scissors , etc. Anything she needed to help keep everything organized while she traveled......so I decided I needed one ......I needle punched my design for the cover and took the easy way of just backing it on this black piece of wool and attach it on the flap front cover of the bag. The part I love most is that it holds so much.....there... Continue reading

Back in the winter I bought this sweet quilt pattern.......... would of probably had it finished by now but for some odd reason I couldn't find it....... it wasn't really lost it was misplaced in a box of papers....... I was so excited when I finally found it.........I decided on these bright florals and polk a dot background. Now that I have it all ironed down I can start to machine stitch......I will hand quilt it once all the pieces have been machine appliqued ........this process took me two afternoons.......quilts take time but so worth it when they are finished.... Cindy gave me this awesome pattern to me last week and I could not wait to try it out.......still trying to get the right needle no and thread/yarn to see what works out and what doesn't.....still trying and experimenting.......every one is so different and you learn so much with each and everyone....this is why it's taking so long for me to get these patterns just right. Most of the patterns will just be patterns and no kits. For instance these photos below are all the mistakes I have made.......... color and shading is so important when doing these faces for... Well it seems a little odd to have pumpkin pie in april but when your son is going to be in town for less than 24 hours you try and have their favorite goodies and this is one of them.......we could eat pumpkin pie anytime of the year......... monday morning news......... I have never been really into gardening but I had a bunch of seeds and give it a try, so this morning after Adam left I decided to put my gloves on and do a little seed planting.........I will see if I have any luck. I have never planted... Continue reading

Well we did it...........not to many tears! What a great time we had last night celebrating Cindy and the Oklahoma CIty Paper Crown Paper Art store. 12 years of creating art and making some long lasting friendships that will last a lifetime. We have seen friends/customers come and go through those doors at Casady Square supplying their creative needs and sometimes just listening to stories of daily living with a smile and hug. Many of you have called it your " Happy Place". We are going to miss it terribly....... looking back though we have so many memories of this... Continue reading

I forgot a couple things for tonight. If you have a bone folder or embossing sylist bring one or the other. I have both so we may have to share. And if any one has the small printer that connects to your phone someone may want to take a picture that is small enough to put in your book. You can always add photos later. This is optional but thought it might be fun since those photos are little enough to fit..... see ya all tonight Continue reading

As you may be aware we are all ( Paper Crown girls) in a punch needle craze right now.......thank you Becky it's all your fault for getting us all crazy once again for this long lost fiber craze......no we are glad she did and loving it along the way. Some of you have asked about the yarn/threads to use, I have been experimenting trying to figure out what works the best.......I found this yarn at Michaels and I love how it looks and it does not get bunched up in the needle or shred to much......they come in quite a... This is a bittersweet post .......I hope you all understand it's one of the hardest since I started this blog......Next tuesday night will be my last class to teach at the Paper Crown....we knew this day was coming..... but we can look back on all those cherished memories we have and the treasured friendships that have been made. What can I say about this woman...........she is the most patient person I know! She is talented , fun, a dear friend, and would do anything for anyone.........and turned us all into stiching fanatics............If you all know Nan she lived in Oklahoma for a while before moving to Utah a few years back. She has always been a Paper Crown favorite......before she moved and after several years of CIndy begging her to teach a stitching class she finally gave in and taught her eyeglass case . And if you know Nan she goes all out on her kits and supplies......the... Continue reading
