This is a bittersweet post .......I hope you all understand it's one of the hardest since I started this blog......Next tuesday night will be my last class to teach at the Paper Crown....we knew this day was coming..... but we can look back on all those cherished memories we have and the treasured friendships that have been made. Some of you have been around since the first class I ever taught, and there have been a few. Every one of you have inspired me with your sweet words of encouragement and kept me inspired to keep on teaching sometimes when... Continue reading

What can I say about this woman...........she is the most patient person I know! She is talented , fun, a dear friend, and would do anything for anyone.........and turned us all into stiching fanatics............If you all know Nan she lived in Oklahoma for a while before moving to Utah a few years back. She has always been a Paper Crown favorite......before she moved and after several years of CIndy begging her to teach a stitching class she finally gave in and taught her eyeglass case . And if you know Nan she goes all out on her kits and supplies......the... Continue reading

Our First class of this weekend started out with the Oh so talented Cindy Mayfield teaching this heart and wings class.......everyone did such an outstanding job, and I think Cindy was pleased with every students finished piece....... The second class in the evening was this sweet Moon Face mobile......we were all so tired I have no photos of the class but here is my moon face........I added the sparkly trim but don't know if I really like it around the face.......I like the stars hanging from the trim so we will see.... On Saturday through the cold wintery wet snowy... Continue reading

This week I have been working on my upcoming Quote/Saying/Scripture book class.......cutting mat boards for the covers, cutting and putting together the signatures for each book, collecting old vintage postcards, photos, ephemera, and whatever else will make this book fun and special, trying to enjoy the process.........this will be my last class at the Oklahoma City Paper Crown so it's been a bittersweet week. I always enjoy collecting items that will be used in the kits for classes and this one has been really fun because each book is going to be so different and hopefully special to each of... Well people I hope you had a wonderful weekend.......we sure enjoyed the beautiful weather on saturday but waking up sunday morning was another story..........oh well Easter went on no matter what the weather. And it would not be Easter dinner without homemade marshmallows! My neighbor stopped by saturday and asked if I made them.......I even had a family of two little girls who are dear friends stop by late yesterday afternoon to see if I had any leftovers....I wish I had photo of these little girls stuffing their mouths with marshmallows and powdered sugar all over their faces! Anyway it... Continue reading

A few weeks back I enrolled in Amy Hanna's "Get Your Badge On" online class.........to say it hit my hot button it did. I knew with ALL of the stuff I have been accumulating for years would now come in handy. When I first watched the video's I thought wow how does she figure out what goes with what and how big should I make them etc. etc.........once you get started it all falls into place and you just start thinking of all kinds of things. Amy uses a lot of tintype photos. I have been collecting them for years... Continue reading

IT'S SPRING TIME IN OKLAHOMA and this girl could not be any happier! Besides summer I love spring because I know summer is just around the corner. For the past 12 years we have made a lot of memories in the classroom in the back of the Paper Crown.........each one holds memories we will all cherish and never forget.......some of you have been around for all of them and some have slipped in from time to time and we always have newcomers that we love to welcome.......this weekend was no exception.......with one of our favorite and special guest teachers Jenn Mcglon and as many of you know her as Noodle and Lou, we had the best time creating one of her whimsical sculptured dolls! ANd for those... Continue reading

There is really no good way for stamps to be displayed so here is what's behind the doors that are closed........several years ago I got rid of a lot of stamps and here is what I have left with another drawer full.......but I really don't have as many as you would think! When the doors are shut you don't see any of this. BEFORE: AFTER: BEFORE: AFTER: BEFORE: AFTER: This is where I sit and my view...........Now I can see my floor, find what I need and feel like I can get ready to start a bunch of new projects... Just getting back from a few days away and thought I would give you an update on the bathroom remodel...........finally got both fixtures up and both of the vanity mirrors......if you remember the mirror on that wall was 9 ft.........so I decided to break it up with two beveled mirrors going horizontally. I had intended all along to go vertical with the mirrors but it made more sense to go horizontal because of the light fixtures and sinks aren't lined up........when you remodel there is always a catch somewhere. I am still looking for the right towel bars and a... Continue reading

Isn't it fun to see a classroom full of kind, sweet faces and know they are all enjoying creating something fun ............it always does my heart good to have a full classroom! I have said this for the past 11-12 years but once again I say "thank you" girls for always coming to class and working hard to finish your project ........sometimes my stuttering trying to explain something or forgetting some of the supplies, you have always been there cheering me on and laughing with me along the way. You know how much I love to make name tags for my classes.........through the years ( 11) at the Paper Crown I started making name tags for each class and I love it when someone says they have saved all of them from each class they have taken.........sometimes it's hard to decide but most of the time it just happens.....some are more involved than others ......... it's a great way for those who aren't familiar with each other to recognize them by a name tag. So that is another good reason or should I say excuse to make them. After... Continue reading
