Sir speed - that's a good point. I did not say random test-control is the only way. I said it is a better way, which I am sure you would agree. I think it's quite feasible to implement this "ideal" solution that would provide a better test.

Eric, that's a good point. The reason we use the term "buy" versus "rent" on our website is because that's the terminology most often used when looking to acquire a mailing list. We did research on that and the word "buy" if used far more often than "rent."

I believe that Facebook now has features that allow you to set up groups. I've not used it much myself, but it may help you to segregate your beer drinking college buddies from esteemed business associates on Facebook through sharing controls. But of course you have to be careful with that setup.
Unfriending a business colleague in Facebook is awkward, but seems to be acceptable when coupled with a Linkedin invitation.

Thanks for the critique. This demo was beta software and we will soon release the final product. The UI was the last thing we worked on because the back end web services was the critical part here.
There are plenty of nice counts systems out there. However, NextMark Selects is the only system that integrates data cards with the back end data. It is intented to complement (not compete with) existing counts systems.
Plus, NextMark Select is not just a counts system. It has full-fledged workflow, controls, and audit trails built in that enable requests and responses to flow from party to party with the proper approvals.
I hope that makes sense. You'll see it for real shortly. We'll be demonstrating live at DM Days later this month.

That is an interesting topic - I am curious how social media will save mail. I would think it would further reduce demand for postal mail. I will look forward to your article. Please post a link when it is published.
