That last insulting comment is way out of line and certainly not welcome here. Please refrain from such a tone.
Hey adfad, I've changed the phrasing above to clarify -- this DOES NOT indicate the number of failed drug tests, but simply the number of tests that also had the capability to detect whether a player was using anabolic steroids.
AE Banks, This blog certainly entitles you to opinions, but you tend to make the same point consistently -- that you think Urban Meyer is "corrupt and unethical," though without much concrete proof. The Swamp Things blog encourages everyone to channel their own originality with insightful blog posts, preferably without using the word "feces," an AE Banks favorite.
Hey Rich, Moody could certainly be that guy; he just needs to show consistency. I know Demps and Rainey will continue to try to bulk up to handle the SEC rigors up the middle. And yes, Richardson could be a difference-maker there.
Hey MM, Haven't heard anything concrete about any of those safeties moving positions -- Major Wright would be a pretty good linebacker, but they won't move him. They like the depth they have there with Black and Hill switching in and out at strong safety. Finley can develop with time, and Munroe will earn his way back onto the field if he matches his ability from 2008 after that torn ACL. Charlie Strong likes to run them in and out, so depth can work in Florida's favor. At 232 pounds, Beal could have the size of a DE, but I know they really liked him at linebacker before his torn ACL. And remember that Will Green and Earl Okine still need plenty of development at defensive end behind Cunningham and Dunlap and Trattou.
Hey mm, The numbers aren't finalized with the newest coaching editions, so the September 2008 model above is for comparative purposes. Jeremy
Rich, Thanks for the comment. Hunter started the year with back problems, then sprained his ankle and reaggravated the back later on in the year. From about the fourth game on, coaches decided to redshirt him, but they certainly thought in early 2008 he would be a game-changer from the beginning. So we need to give him a full spring and preseason to show us what he can really do.
Gator4Life, Thanks for the comments. I don't care how good Janoris Jenkins is, Wondy is pure disappointment because he went from starter to special teams player. He at least could have worked to crack the nickel package like Markihe Anderson did. Torrey Davis has had his issues, but you can't complain with a guy who becomes a reliable backup on a depleted front line and makes a goal-line stop in the national title game. John Brown and Omar Hunter certainly didn't do that, and despite injuries, they probably could have affected this year if they fought through them and worked hard to get back. None of their injuries merit an "out for season" prognosis. And from what I heard, Emmanuel Moody didn't start getting credit from coaches until later in the year because it took him forever to A) learn how to work through injuries, and B) block well. Demps got that right off the bat, and that's why he was on the field. Moody's going to be a great player here, I believe, but let's just say he had a rough sophomore yeawr.
Hey folks, I'll change the headline. Sorry for the confusion. Jeremy
Dear Jay, I heard that as well, and I checked with the school's registrar office, but every athlete's scholarship information is set on private. There's no way for a reporter to formally check because of it.
Good call, folks. I certainly meant $3.25 million. That's pretty funny. JRF

MM, Epps is out for the season with a torn ACL from earlier in the year, Estopinan isn't really a factor anymore and John Brown's been nursing a hand/wrist injury all year and is ineligible to play (probably a redshirt). They've really taken a lot of lumps at this position but remain consistent. D-line coach Dan McCarney has done a phenomenal job.
Hey that guy, Thanks for the comment. No doubt there is blowout potential here, as evidenced by what Florida has done to the last seven teams they've played. But I think the Georgia game was unique in that Florida had so much built-in tension that it unleashed on one big day. In this case, when you mix a confident Florida State team with the deep-rooted tradition this rivalry possesses, FSU will come with enough thunder to make it interesting. Just not enough to win.
