Thank you very very much for posting that. (Hope it's ok...) Up here in the frozen Canadian wasteland, I haven't had a chance to see Wil's work in person. The story was fantastic and brilliantly humorous. Thanks for sharing, and thanks to Wil for the very entertaining reminisce. (BTW, wonderful Frakes impression!)
in which i am grateful
Los Angeles totally turned out for our show at Largo last night. I think the house was about 80% full, which is incredible for a show on a Tuesday, anywhere, but expecially in Hollywood. We all had a great time, and the new material I did with Paul and Storm seemed to play as well as we hoped it...
Semi-random thought: I was thinking about the point of this entry (affecting others by one's work) and the idea came to me...Perhaps the "Do Something Creative" initiative could be used to write the teleplay for #wilwforcastle. Have you tried your hand at teleplay writing before? I'm sure it's very hard, but if you could write the story first; well even if it was never seen or used, I know I'd personally be gratified by having attempted the experience. Even so, you never know. The Voice would likely be heavily damaged by something so ambitious.

The greatest reward I can receive as a writer is the knowledge that something I wrote affected someone who read it. Earlier today, a HUNTER reader e-mailed the following: I'd like to make a request: Please don't make it so dark next time. I know just how foolish it is to "make a request" about ...
Is it considered "Wil-rolling" if that's not at all what I was expecting?
I've been sick with the flu for three days, and that was the first time I laughed. Thank you both!
Cherry Flowers and Bedroom Songs
While I was drifting off to sleep last night, a short story idea seized my mind and refused to shut up until I scribbled down enough about it to ensure I didn't lose it during the journey to sleep and back to waking. I got out of bed, made some barely-legible notes, and fell asleep rather quickl...
Sold! So glad you made it available again, I was out of the country the first time. Thank you Not-evil Wil Wheaton!
The Day After and Other Stories goes digital
tl;dr: The Day After And Other Stories is once again available for download. It's $4.99 at Lulu. Yay! In December of last year, I released a very short collection of very short stories for a very short time - just ten days, actually - as an experiment in releasing short fiction. It sold fai...
A superabundance of applause. I heartily echo this sentiment for librarians. Well worded and executed.
librarians are awesome
I was recently invited to participate in an awesome literacy project, and I wanted to share an excerpt from my contribution: I want to take a moment and say thank you to librarians, because it was a librarian who made me fall in love with reading. In third or fourth grade, part of our curriculu...

This post made me giggle greatly. My wife loves to have avid text-a-thons with our friends who live upstairs. Almost daily. A 3 minute conversation would solve it, but no! Must text!
Perhaps I should stop texting her in the living room, from my office, to tell her to desist in this behavior. Perhaps...
technology makes you stupid
It's been over 80 for the last few days, and I'm going up to Portland for the rest of this week to see my sister, so I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a run yesterday afternoon. My brain quickly tuned out and started working on this story I'm about to publish, so my feet went the...
I saw the second one in Mr. Moore's stack of JoCoCruise Crazy pics and also thought it noteworthy.
By the way, I felt compelled to mention this:
I'm not usually this gushy, but given the state of youth who are contemporaries of your own, and have had a similar set of circumstances in their development...
On a humanist note: It is a rarity and a gift that you were able to shield your boys from the harsh glare of fame for the most part.
It's a rare miracle that children (of parents that have any degree of fame) get to be their age and and are (for lack of a better term) normal.
At the end of your life (hopefully a long ways off from now), when you look back, you and Mrs. W have more than any other accomplishment, truly accomplished a miracle.
A rare blessing. Personally, my respect for you has increased. Kudos and standing O to you both.
In which I am a proud father
"I have to tell you," Jonathan Coulton's wife said to me on the last night of the cruise, "how wonderful your boys are." "I have two daughters," Peter Sagal's wife told Anne, "and I hope this isn't weird or creepy, but I really hope they meet guys like your sons." "Dude, you know you raised your...

Wouldn't it be uber-ironic if someday in the not too distant future, mother-earth decides she's had enough and does produce mega monsters to teach the evil polluting humans a lesson?
Sigh... if only.
PS... Go Debbie Gibson! *has nostalgic flashback to late 80's music*
We Demand MacNeil!
A friend of mine recently accomplished one of those things which is worthy of being celebrated with champagne, so I went to the store this afternoon to get her a bottle. I picked out a bottle of Veuve Cliquot, which is Anne's and my favorite, and walked up to the register to pay. On my way, I th...
I can't tell you how very much I want to have a t-shirt with that photo on it. It would be a black shirt, and it may even have a simple nerd-esque saying such as "Fez-tival!" or "Fez-tivus!"
If w00tstock 3 (or 2.X where X is the next appropriate number on an escalating scale) becomes reality, you must wear the fez. Must!
I wear a fez now. Fezzes are cool.
One of my favorite things on JoCoCruiseCrazy was our Informal Moustache Formal, organized by the (now dead to me) Paul F. Not Coming On the Cruise Because I Got a "Job" that "Pays Me" and "Furthers My Career" Tompkins. During the Informal Formal, Kevin Murphy loaned me this most exquisite fez,...
"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next the power of that force"... Brilliant. Also loved the assorted geekery in the form of so many well known space vehicles in the disc. Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had a lot of fun.
Robot Astronomy Talk Show: Destroyer of Worlds
A few times a year, I get to go over to the Spitzer Science Center at Cal Tech, and do some voice over work for these wonderful educational shorts. I'm really proud to be a small part of IRrelevant Astronomy; we're making science accessible and entertaining, and hopefully inspiring people to lea...

Admiral Smurfbar - "I told you it was a trap!"
merry smurfin' smurfmas, mothersmurfers
This is crying out for a caption. I'll choose my favorite, and send something neat* to whoever writes it. Submissions open throughout the weekend, one per person, and can only be left as comments here (it's too difficult to track on Twitter or via e-mail). *definition of 'neat' will be at my s...
