The Beethoven 9th of the undoing the damage inflicted decades ago by the widening of Congress would be for IDOT and the City of Chicago to work with Roosevelt University in reconstructing the long bar of the Auditorium Building. This bar was an Art Nouveau masterpiece.
I can't say it any better than what is written on Page 137 in "Lost Chicago" by David Lowe: "In a staggering act of vandalism, when the Congress Street Expressway was built in the early 1950s, 16 feet were sliced off the Auditorium's first floor and this seminal room was one of the casualties."
