That sounds wonderful and would probably work for most, but I find I am hypersensitive to sugar substitutes and they do raise my blood sugar. Sugar substitutes set off cravings for me too, just like sugar. The 'ice cream' I ate was actually a frozen yogurt, but not sugar free. I just didn't eat too much and put healthy toppings on it like coconut & banana slices. As of today, January 18th, I have not eaten sugar since the start of the new year and I feel good.
