My Dad called me up today and mentioned that it was Pearl Harbor Day. I didn't know there was such a thing. Humbled by my ignorance, I asked him to explain. He informed me that today is the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, which of course was the trigger for our involvement in WWII. He then informed me that Channel 6 news in Milwaukee had done a brief spot honoring two WWII veterans, one of them being my Grandfather: Edward Tyre. Please take a moment and watch these two men reflect on this part of our history. I love you, Grandpa...... Continue »

Today was Six Apart's last day. It became Say Media this afternoon. And end of an amazing company, and a start of a new one. A colleague said Six Apart was sort of like college. We all worked and played together, and over the years, we started bumping into alum around the city working at new ventures. We are still a group, and are having a big alum gathering later in January to all come together. Current Six Aparters will be with Say Media, but many of those I have worked with, especially from the very early years, have already... Continue »

I've been seeing a few Patrick Winfield polaroid composites popping up around lately in some interesting places. Clearly his nature/landscape/flower images are most popular, but I've always liked his more abstract composites like these, which almost approach a crossover to... Continue »

As the era of Six Apart comes to a close, and I look back on my almost five years here, there is a group that I feel deserves just as much recognition as the rest of us... plus some treats and belly rubs. I'm talking, of course, about the Six Apart Dogs. Dogs have been a huge part of the culture around here for as long as I've been on board. Like them or not, they've always been present. Most were well-behaved, but some would get their wild on from time to time, and that was ok. Sometimes we'd encourage... Continue »

I noticed these hand prints that streak down towards the bottom of the glass on our floors vending machine. I'm thinking someone either died of hunger upon reaching the machine or was poisoned by old candy: Continue »

I was play ing with my friend (who was a bee) on the patio, and then after a while he stopped moving. I was bored by this, so I ate him. He was a little crispy--which was interesting-- but I swear I tasted resentment as I was chewing him, which... Continue »

Sure I get compliments from old men at bars and the occasional shaggy haired teen on a skateboard. But there's no bigger compliment than having the oh-so-talented @tiffchow draw your face on an iPad! For comparison, the original is here.... Continue »
