Isn't the area around the "Triangle" heavily traveled? I'm not sure why that would make it a "great location", it would seem to me that the traffic would be horrendous.
Bannister Mall/Three Trails plan
I’m a neighborhood watch coordinator of 286 units within a half a mile of Bannister Mall. Our neighborhood around Bannister has been hurting for a place to shop, to eat, for a good grocery store. Crime has been expanding for several years. We need to change our outlook in all communities and wor...
Thank you for the laugh, I needed that this morning!
Cemetery encounter
My husband passed away this year, and my daughter and I went to his grave in White Chapel Cemetery on Christmas Day. I turned around, and there was a Jehovah’s Witness handing out literature (“Death: Is it Really the End?”). I was so shocked. I just couldn’t believe anyone would do something lik...
With all due respect, Rev. Simmer, what business is it of yours how people choose to spend their hard earned money? People spend upwards of $20,000 on weddings, should they give all that money to charity? I just don't understand why the dove thing makes you so crazy.
Wedding ceremonies
My wife called my attention to the newspaper account of a wedding held recently. The article reported that, as part of the ceremony, the couple released 100 doves. As a clergyman, some wedding expert will have to explain to me what releasing 100 doves has to do with a Christian wedding. We are...
Jeff_H - I would like to point out that I wasn't addressing the article by Ms. Azim but the letter from Bobbi. I still don't understand who/what/when/where/why she is being called "too-tolerant".
Season’s customs, greetings
Most here celebrate Christmas Ayana Azim asks us how we would respond if every purchase we made was accompanied by a “Have a blessed Ramadan” (12/22, As I See It, “Imagine a holiday season dominated by Ramadan”). She wonders whether we wouldn’t be tired of people assuming we celebrate Ramadan ju...
Regardless of whether or not Mr. Burton's "cash" tip is negligible or non-existent, the waitstaff has no right to give themselves their own tip on his debit or credit card.
Self-tipping is not OK
I’d like to share a new practice I must be unfamiliar with: self-tipping. The widespread acceptance of debit and credit cards in restaurants has given way to this new “custom.” On at least four occasions in the past year, I have noticed when balancing my checkbook that dishonest cashiers or wait...
I'm not even sure I understand what Bobbi means by her statement "Many times I have been accused of being too tolerant of non-Christians because I remind people that not everyone is celebrating Christmas."
Who is she reminding? How is she doing it? Is she reminding clerks at the store? Her friends? I can't imagine anyone saying she was too tolerant of non-Christians.
What am I missing?
