Hello, Heidi. Your question makes total sense! This has always been my favorite article about how to trim a dog's nails. Also, here's a very informative article about grinding dogs' nails. (If that link doesn't work, you can try her home page.) This grinding method would do wonders to help push the quicks back!

(I'm not doing a very good job of keeping up with the crazy stuff that he says that I want to remember! Here's to improvement...) Yesterday: He is into rock collecting. The bigger ones are "boulders" and the smaller ones are "arrowheads." Yesterday he was, as he said, "pecking" one of his boulders with one of his arrowheads. He even made up a song about it while he was playing this game: "Peckerhead, peckerhead. Playing with my peckerhead!" Get it? Now, I wonder where he picked THAT one up??? (I'll give anyone who knows my family one good guess!) Continue reading

Love this! I'm preparing to get my groomer blog back in gear and this series will definitely help to oil my gears and keep me on the right track. Thanks :)

Brrr! We definitely got a nice helping of the Midwest sleet storm. 7 1/2 inches of sleet. SLEET! Can you believe that? It's just so bizarre. I thought that once it gets so cold, you get snow and that's that. Oh well. At least Cameron gets to have fun playing in it :) We're definitely enjoying this extra time that we get to spend together, but I'm starting to get cabin fever! Come on, grooming clients, why don't you want to dig your cars out of the sleet and ice just to bring you dogs to me for a grooming... Continue reading

Wow, Jenn! Sorry it has taken me so long to answer this. I'm going to go ahead and answer it in case anyone else might be asking themselves the same question! The basket cage might work alone, but they're pretty good about jerking their heads out of it. The elizabethan collar idea sounds like it might be pretty cumbersome for the sake of grooming, but perhaps just for a nail trim or fanny work it might be alright...?

Yesterday: Knock knock? Who's there? Cameron Kuhlmann James peanut butter smelly sandwich!! Today: Me: "Do you want me to turn your bedroom light on so you can play" Cameron: "No. I don't want to play." Me: "Well I've never met a little boy who doesn't want to play!" Cameron: "Well I guess you never met me!" Continue reading

Cameron points of a picture of a girl playing on a jungle gym. "That's me when I was a girl... 'Cause I was a girl one day." (He's going through this phase of trying to figure out if pictures of young children or babies are pictures of him.) Continue reading

My son says the silliest things. Here's today's silly quote: "Fe fi fo fum! I smell the butt of an Englishman!" So he's on this Jack and the Beanstalk kick. And he thinks the giant says "butt" rather than "blood." :) How cute is that?! Continue reading

You know, I've had a lot of people tell me that their cats go home and prance after they get shaved! It's funny :) I can believe it though. I bet they just feel "free!" I understand about shaving for *your* sake, too. Most of our floors are hard and I get tumbleweeds from just having one indoor cat!

Thank you so much :) I'm glad that your dog will "allow" it so that he gets to stay comfortable. Maybe if I'm ever in your area I'll swing by for a quick grooming session, -haha! Thanks for visiting my blog!
