Ha, you're a mind-reader Jeff - we were fighting with this very issue just this morning. Thanks for the post, it was just what we needed. One thing I would add: if you're sending significant amounts of important emails, make sure to check bounce-backs, because there are also issues of customers having mis-configured mail servers, bad email addresses, etc etc - there's no substitute for a human checking these issues (sadly).
