nothing like 3 parties in one. it's gabe's (my seven- year-old son) "upside-down, report card celebration dinner (urrrr, breakfast) with a valentine theme! inside the mug is the BIG report card wrapped in a bow just waiting to be unveiled! this morning i volunteered in gabe's reading class. there truly is no better way to get a good giggle, a little lovin' and a really cheap lunch. i came home and started to put together the table and menu for the big par-tay in gabe's honor. john and i are so proud of how hard gabe has worked and persevered... a teenage girls parisian-inspired bedroom the airing of this show is kind of funny for several reasons: 1) when i posted a give-away a few weeks ago and referenced hgtv's, decorating cents and the host, joan steffend, i have to admit i have not watched the show for a few years. i was a "regular" designer on the show (somewhere between 12-14 episodes) but it seems ages, no, eons ago. once we adopted our baby boy, i just could not afford the time it takes to design for the show. the show was canceled although it still airs on the... ok people! really, no realllllly - i absolutely loved every comment everyone was so kind enough to post. your heartfelt responses were exactly what i was looking for, so a big thank you along with a big, cyber-space hug and slobbery, air-kiss to each of you. in the near future i hope to be making some big announcements in regard to some of the things i have "in the works" (note: i often say this to my mom and preface it with, "no i'm not pregnant". that's been going on for years now and probably not funny any more) for... trust me, this will all make sense and there is somewhere in this short novel, a great give-away. thanks to the book, "...and she sparkled", by joan steffend, i wish i had paid more attention to my nursery school report card. i would have skipped meetings with academic counselors that tried fruitlessly to guide me onto a career track. heck i could have skipped college altogether (and all the student loans) and just let my true inner light shine. stay with me here folks! for anyone that experienced the feeling of losing one's inner sparkle or needs encouragement to find... ok folks, that was an amazing new year's tweet-athon! thanks to all of you that particpated and a bigger thanks to miss niki from stitchin' heaven who worked her buns off in making the event such a big hit. being a "virgin twitter" (although i admit being a major twit) i wasn't sure if i was not only going to get on-line but once things started rolling, i wasn't sure how i was going to keep up. the dialogue was hilarious and it was such a treat to meet all of you. like niki said, nothing like being at a... sort of a funny thing (in a not so funny kind of way) i wonder whatever made me think i could do that? i am often asked, how did you start designing fabric or how did you make it the final 25 for “ martha stewart’s, “apprentice”? i often joke that some funky, entrepreneurial blood runs through my family’s veins. no, it does not just run - it percolates. yet, i do think there is a bit of truth to “being born” with what seems like an innate sense of, “well, why of course, i should own my own business.”... so what is an urban-farm? real versus fantasy.........a curiously fun dichotomy........earthy versus glam most of all, life at the urban-farm allows you to make it what you want it to be for me, an urban-farm is a "real" place, a way of living as well the name of my lifestyle brand. all that, is mixed with a wonderful blend of polar opposites, sprinkled with "real-life", a very playful side and the hope of "what could be". for those that are intrigued by the concept of living urban-farm-style, it is my hope that each of your interpretations of it, are as... long live green acres zsa zsa gabor 1917- still ticking! eva gabor 1919 - 1995 i was saddened to hear that zsa zsa gabor, sister of eva, was hospitalized and had requested her last rites today. it's an end of an era. as a little girl (well actually up until a few years ago) i thought they were the same person. while they were not twins, you could have fooled me. each embodied the glam-a-dee-glam of the hollywood's golden era, with vavoom'ish-curves and blonde, bombshell, bee-hive hair-dos. didn't they occassionallywear tiaras even though they weren't really royalty? they exuded a... that's urbanfarm-talk for: what's up? what's new? what's shakin'? give me the scoop! fyi: given the cows, "the scoop" should not be confused with a pooper-scooper the fact of the matter is, this may be the"keri beyer's urbanfarm" blog, but i feel awkward in that it's a bit one-sided (that and i've got limited material... i'm pretty boring and have only so much to offer) but that doesn’t mean I don’t ramble, I do, so follow me here. i got you some small "moo's" and i'm gonna' be spouting out bigger "moo's", but i would be remiss if i did... in honor of dads everywhere, the special bond and memories they create (time spent with, words spoken and not, an inside joke, a special hug) are truly priceless. this last year my dad, a hobby beekeeper (i call him "mr. google" as he's a walking, talking encyclopedia about honeybees) came to our house and set up a hive with my son, gabe. gabe and grandpa started talking about how much honey they were sure to harvest and thought they should give some away... or even sell it. so we came up with a label. "g and g honey". while i... Continue reading

i have had some calls from people that want to see some photos from market this last month at the minneapolis convention center. this spring the show was in my own backyard which made it really nice to not have to ship and travel but mentally -that was another story! some how i had tricked myself into thinking that it also meant i had more time to get the zillion things that need to be done - done! so the week of the show i had three days of no sleep with a break of one night with a couple...
