I drive that route every day to work and see a police car or motorcycle parked there about 25 percent of the time. I don't mind police going after excessive speeders, there or anywhere, but it is annoying that the speed limit changes from 40 to 35 right before you head down a hill. Of course, the utility work is basically acting as a speed bump right now (and has been for weeks as the street was torn up and then paved in and then, what else, cratered into potholes), so everyone is slowing down even without the presence of a radar gun.
We'll be following this closely over the next few, well, years, both on our blog and in our magazine. (In fact, our April cover story focuses on future development in Lake Highlands, and it was finished and ready for publication when we got wind of the town meeting. Needless to say, some tweaking took place.) I've been promised some of Tuesday night's renderings that I plan to post on the blog, so be watching for them to appear.
Those add-ins are chock full of sugar and calories, but I don't really like to think about that. I justify it by ordering a vanilla DIET coke. According to the Sonic website, a route 44 regular coke has 370 calories, but a route 44 diet coke with a shot of vanilla has 80 calories. That's not too bad, especially considering that I generally finish about half of the drink. (And that my other favorite drink, an orange cream slush, is a whopping 430 calories.)
