I do not think the usage of the zone defense has to do with age, I think it has more to do with the fact that Doc spotted something that worked in Dallas against the Heat, and the fact guys like Bass, Wilcox, Dooling, and the young guys are still learning it. It is tool and not the way we do things.
For all the "upgrade" talk about Bass versus Big Baby, Baby was an excellent team defender.
Boston is number one in the league in defense and imagine what those numbers would be like if we grabbed a few more defensive rebounds; Boston is holding teams to under 30% from the three; 42% overall; and lowest point total. We need more commitment to defensive rebounding and we will be set.
The "old" narrative is overplayed; these old guys are putting up championship defense and the the only thing that we are trying to figure out on offense is running the half-court offense through Paul Pierce while Rondo maintain the lead role in transition.
