Play - Kill the light "The cute band name isn’t a complete misnomer. Chloe Chaidez’s voice wavers between a soft whimper and megaphone timbre, with the lyrical prowess that should be expected from a 15-year old recently signed to Atlantic... Continue »

I asked this person directly: do you have an iPhone? Nope. Do you use a Mac or a PC? PC. There you go. You don't get it. Until you use an iPhone, a Mac, drive a BMW or Audi, you don't even realize how great the experience can be or... Continue »

Six Apart acquired by VideoEgg. End of an era since I've been with 6A pretty much since the beginning, working in that old dental office, hammering away on emails seated between the CEO and President. We used to all go to lunch together way back then. I got married and had a daughter while at 6A. I got to be totally open about who I am (i.e. a Burner), and got to work closely with Tokyo, my home. It's a new chapter, and this makes sense in many ways. But this is a biggie...no more "Six Apart" where we called... Continue »

Instead of taking days to write the perfect post about the Six Apart news (in case you don't know, Six Apart is now SAY Media), I wanted to simply jot down some of my thoughts while the news is still,... Continue »

Can't believe almost 3 weeks have already gone by since Burning Man. Definitely takes time to get our regular life back to order, and I have been tired. Needed down time. I just finally downloaded our few pictures from our camera! To be honest, however, we didn't take that many pics because we had 1 professional photographer as well as 3 great hobby photographers, one who was a newbie so had an eye for all those things us veterans take for granted. So from the get-go, I knew I'd rely on others to document. : ) Huge kudos to Lorene... Continue »

There I was, working from home on a day where our office had no water nor internet, planning new features for a fine blogging platform, when, all of a sudden, my droopy dream pop beats were interrupted by my landlord... Continue »

OH: I wrote a picture note for you today, but I forgot it at the office. It has a big heart on it, with maybe 8 hearts inside it. ~ the father of my daughter Daughter tends to asks for picture notes very often when we say goodbye in the morning. In the past, picture note requests have involved dinosaurs, trees with doors, princesses, bridges, and various forms of cars. I ♥ Dav. Continue »

via sfist.com For true football fans, opening day of the NFL season is one of the most anticipated events of the year. It’s better than Christmas, better than your birthday, and if your family is anything like mine, probably better than Thanksgiving as well. You’re giddy with anticipation all weekend and you pop out of bed bright and early on game day because you know that this is finally going to be your year. Read more... Continue »

Yesterday, with the opening of the NFL season, we've had our best day ever on Oleboo. More than 45 people played simultaneously during Vikings vs Saints. Those are not people saying they're watching the game. Those are people who are sharing their emotions as the game is happening. It was a lot fun. It was great to talk about the game as it was happening with fans from all over the place. Interestingly enough, each team had almost the same number of oles (86 and 87), but the Vikings received more boos. At the same time, the Giants beat the... Continue »

OK, so maybe we sent one of our remote employees - let's call him Hippy McNeckbeard - a replacement laptop with some extraneous equipment included in the box. And by "extraneous" I mean a half-eaten chocolate candy bar, some floppy disks, a postcard of Prince William, an inappropriately adorable background image, CDs with drivers for items you would only find in an antique store, a 2008 SF Giants calendar, and various other useless items. Now, I.T. professionals know that remote employees are a special challenge. These employees are usually very smart, but far too ugly to have in the general... Continue »

These are the Six Apart couches, as photographed back in 2006. They are decidedly less brightly colored these days, have quite a lot of stains and dog hair on them, but are still a place where some of the best thinking and some of the best drinking in this place takes place. We spent many hours on these couches talking about how features should work, what would be cool to implement, fighting off attackers, and celebrating victories. The entire company has gathered around these couches on Friday evenings for drinks at least once or twice a month for as long... Continue »
