Well, I am going to have to admit that I need a break from blogging! I tried cutting back, but I need a break. You can still wander around my old posts though. Maybe, if I am not using up all my writing time blogging, I might just be able... Continue reading

It has been one crazy week around here. We are fighting some kind of bug, so managing to get our school work done was pretty much the only thing we got done around here. Except Levi. He has decided that those Emergen-C things taste awesome (helped along by a recent... Continue reading

So last week our theme unit was survival. The boys loved it! We talked about food as fuel, layering clothes for winter, the importance of not panicing, went for a hike, and had a scavenger hunt. For our hunt we went to REI (you could go to any outdoorsy type... Continue reading

So, Eve saw a picture of a cute little pocket sized dolly, and she kept asking about it, so I made one while she rested. And then I made a few more (for the shop). She was, really, really happy. She decided Baby would fit in her teeny, tiny, toddler... Continue reading

When Micah reached 2.5, we had Boxer Day. It was brilliant. So we had Potty Day for Eve (Panty Day just sounded a bit too much, even for me). Potty Day is not that crazy pressure cooker of a day where you try to wake your diaper baby up and... Continue reading

I had the chance to read Debora Coty's new book, and I have really enjoyed it. She writes about dealing with fear, from several angles (guilt, anyone?), but manages to do so with humor and with Scripture. Really, anyone who can discuss the topic of guilt and narrate how a... Continue reading

Things to teach your kids while at the aquarium that have nothing to do with fish (or aquatic mammals, for that matter): How to read a map How to ask grown-ups (employees) an intelligent question How to sort their lunch trash according to the compost/trash/re-use/recycle bins How to appologize to... Soooo.... I tried this recipe for BBQ Beef Jerky. I don't have a dehydrator, so I was following the secondary directions: leave it in the oven overnight. I woke up to these (ummmm.....???) And I thought... Ummm. No. But oh well, all new recipes can't be winners, right? And then... Continue reading

First, there's white balance.... (with flash) (without flash) ... and then there's all the other kinds. Post something, write something, edit something. Taking time for one thing takes time away from something else. Whether you like it or not. I want to keep blogging. I really do. But there are... Continue reading

For Christmas we received a family membership to the National Aquarium! The kids and I picked a day in January, but woke up to some snow and heavy traffic - ewww! So we waited until the next day (our kids are pretty cool like that), and off we went! It... Continue reading

I agree, I was just trying to point out that this was a lighter devotional, not an in-depth Bible study (I like to know that kind of thing before I myself purchase a book, depending on what phase life is taking me through at the time). Light devos are often just as helpful as the in-depth ones!
We love our peanut butter play dough. Seriously, who doesn't like edible art? Equal parts PB and flour. You can squirt in a little honey if you like. Continue reading

January is always such a quiet month for me. I hit a picture taking lull, usually, and school keeps us busy enough to fill the short days. But, in case you are wondering, I thought I'd share a couple of things. Percolate. Seriously. My sweet hubby surprised me with the... Continue reading

Seriously. Does anyone know how this happens? I have never seen anything I have knit do this. But my Grannie made each of the boys these beautiful blankets. And they both do this. And then it turns into this: Most of the time there's no broken end. Nothing. Nada. Just,... Continue reading

I will admit that I just spent way to much time laughing at some old camp videos. This one is my favorite - full of people I was blessed to get to work with. Plus I got to make a mess for one of them to clean up... Continue reading

So, I've had some fun figuring out some clothing patterns for my little dolls. And some little shoes as well. Now. If only I could figure out a good place to take their pictures. Continue reading

Growing up my brother and us used to reason: if it's gonna be cold, then it should snow, 'cause at least then we'd get something out of it. Of course, ahem, I should mention that (to our south Florida bloodstreams) anything under 75 degrees is cold. Go ahead, laugh at... Continue reading

It amazes me that making a movie can draw such an audience. And the movie maker? He is totally focused. I get like that sometimes (always with art). I think it's really good for him.... Continue reading

Sometimes I like to look backwards, you know? I think that's my favorite thing about blogging - being able to click through and see where we were and how big (or small) we were. Last year, I was here: Reading that makes me want to get some sock yarn. For... Continue reading
