Congrats on the placing and huge PR! Glad you've got your health back on track and are back to racing!
Santa Cruz Olympic race report
FINALLY... my first triathlon of the season! It's a nice little race in Santa Cruz put on by Finish Line Productions... I think they did a great job organizing and I'd do it again. This was a warm-up race so I could gauge fitness and work out the kinks prior to Big Kahuna in a few weeks. The las...
Oh no! I'm sorry that you'll be missing Honu, but more sorry that you're feeling so crappy. I hope you get resolution soon and get to feeling better!
Big setback: is gluten the cause?
I know I've been very quiet lately... I've had a mystery intestinal sickness for the past 5 weeks that has taken me totally out of the running for Honu. The first couple weeks were manageable, but I ended up DNS'ing (did not start) Wilflower a couple weeks ago and it's been downhill from there. ...
Nice job on the half!
My second half
My second half marathon now in the books! I ran the US Half in San Francisco this past Sunday... what a gorgeous race. Weather could not have been more perfect, and the route is spectacular (albeit hilly... 1300 feet of total elevation!) The great news: I went from 2:30 on a flat course at Surf ...
First off..a HUGE thank you, HUGE, for recommending that saddle! I hated the last Adamo I tried, but picked up the one you mentioned last week, had my bike guy put it on, and did a 3:30 ride this weekend (on the trainer no less) with *very* little discomfort. And the discomfort I did have was in a place I could tolerate, where it *ahem* wasn't tolerable before. So THANK YOU again!
I work with one of the nutritionists that Liz recommended (Heather Fink) and love her. She not only helped me with every day eating (and losing about 15#), but also with race day nutrition plans for HIM and IM. I highly recommend her.
Training update
So I haven't been too inspired to write, but I've loved reading everyone else's posts. Wildflower training weekend was this weekend and I was looking forward to writing about it, but I cut my stay short due to weather. We were supposed to get a cold front and storms, and the idea of camping in f...
Congrats on moving up! I haven't found a good masters group yet, so swim on my own. I do think it's good to get pushed by other people tho. Good work!
That uncomfortable place between lanes
It's where the magic happens... between lanes in master's swim. We only have 3 lanes: slow, medium and fast. The slow lane (where I've been for the past month as I rehabbed my shoulder) is for newbies. Avg pace is probably 2:15. The intermediate lane is a pretty big step up: I'd guess avg pace i...
