But a prone target would actually increase the difficulty with a ranged (swiped?) weapon... but since it seems she's taken training in dice proficiency the 16 was obviously enough.
She rolled a sixteen. Good for her!
When Ryan was a Junior in college, he moved to a place where he couldn't have cats. Anne and I agreed to foster them until he took them back. That was nearly three years ago. When he moved across the country for his job, we officially adopted the cats we'd been fostering for years. Ryan misses t...
slower than Gail & 'Jan 27 7:28' but came by to post the Patrick Rothfuss discussion of "cool" http://www.patrickrothfuss.com/blog/2010/01/fanmail-q-coolness.html
anyone who decides coolness is to be measured in Gaiman-Day units deserves multiple link-tos :)
regarding the matter of video games v. movies
I had the house to myself last night, so I could watch whatever nerdy DVD or DVR'd movie I wanted, as loud as I wanted. I've been talking about re-watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended editions, of course) for a couple of months, but when I finally had a chance to get started, I ended...
I have so many Batman shirts, my wife frequently says, "Why do you have so many Batman shirts?"
oh my, that was funny. Like re-read it to make sure that's what it said then startle the cat while snortling at it funny.
My husband did Civil War, he'd been pretty much on the wagon for about 7 years before that. (Let's just not mention D&D/d20 supplements.) I have many, many of the Elf*Quest spin-offs, most unread because I didn't have time. And now those are being released online for free. (!)

okay, i'll admit it. i have a problem.
This was originally going to be about how the Internet has made me stupid and lazy. I was going to offer as an example my decision to sit here in the living room and search the 'tubes for several minutes to see how many issues are included in the first Fell trade paperback instead of just walkin...

hah - today I had to pick what tires to replace the ones on my 7 year old Impala. The choice came down to something (Uniroyal?) and B.F.Goodrich - which on the computer screen read as BFG.
I turned to my husband and said "How can I not get BFGs for the car!" "You're such a geek." "That's why you married me :)"

you can count on me
Ryan and I sat in the car and waited for a break in traffic to make a left. "Do you have any plans for the weekend?" I said. "Yeah," he said, "I'm going to go see three hundred and twenty-three movies." I looked at him. "How are you going to see that many movies in one weekend?" A Wheaton mo...

You should totally hook up with a manufacturer and make a "Wil Wheaton WC" sweater line. Assuming 'WC' isn't trademarked and won't get you in trouble. Heh, I can see you now weighing 'having my name on these hideous things' vs. 'money for X'.
they're baaaaack
It looks like the hideous sweaters I wore on TNG are making some kind of terrifying comeback. Speaking from experience, anyone wearing one of these things will find themselves unable to engage in conversation with any members of the opposite sex; on the other hand, they will find themselves abl...

best would be to just say "rest of y'all" though you could say "rest of all of y'all"...
"y'alls" is right out :)
i find it hard to tell you, because i find it hard to take
Last night I watched an amazing episode of TNG called Family. It is a truly wonderful episode that focuses on the human element of Star Trek. It is very dark and very heavy. It deals with the consequences of some very serious events from earlier in the series: Picard's assimilation by the Borg...

speaking of media - have you seen what's going on over at Penny-Arcade w/ Jack Thompson?
the myth
Via Pre$$titutes: "The right-wing talk-merchants who, until Air American Radio came along had the AM dial pretty much to themselves, complain constantly that the mainstream media has a left-wing, anti-Bush bias. So too the cable news chatterers. Much of the public believes this myth because it i...
