I couldn't agree more, and this is something they don't tell you when they are trying to sell you a tour in Kathmandu. They try to sell you on this option mainly because there are usually empty tour vehicles in Zhangmu, having just dropped off tourists at the border, and they do not make any money if they have to send them back to Lhasa empty. Sometimes you have to bargain hard and stand your ground with the tour agencies, but you can get what you want. Even if you don't suffer from the full effects of AMS, you are going to have a rough few days as your body tries to acclimate. During that time, it is hard to enjoy what should be the trip of a lifetime.

The major news services seem to have forgotten about the people affected by the quake, and they are certainly not reporting the loss of livestock and what is going to be needed in the coming months. You and mrcjonesy have done a lot to keep us up to date. Thank you for that, and all you have done. Todd
Losang, I am so glad that you and your family are okay. It must be very hard to deal with the horrors of this disaster, and still keep us updated, but we really appreciate it. I am passing this information on to as many people as I can. Stay safe. My thoughts are with you and you family, as well as everyone affected by the quake. Todd

Excellent pictures. Thank you. They once let me sit in on the chanting at Samye, but no pictures and no lunch. I envy your experiences.
Hello, I'm glad you and your family are doing well. It sounds like you are planning some interesting projects. Please keep us updated. I belong to a small Tibetan Buddhist Sangha, and I'm sure we could come up with some type of contribution to help out. I've had to take a couple of years off from traveling, but hopefully, I will be returning to the region next year. Are you planning on staying in Xining? Take care. Todd
