Game chat: Pride on the line as Doc wraps it up
No Ryan Howard, and no carrot, as Roy Halladay seeks a strong finish to his spotty, injury-riddled 2012 season tonight in the middle game between the Phillies and Marlins. First pitch is 7:10. In other news, the Phils are pulling the plug on Tyler Cloyd, who has thrown exactly 200 innings between...
Yes there are many meaningful, necessary upgrades the Phillies need to address in the off season . In all honesty I don't think ANYTHING would give me more pleasure than reading the Phillies have terminated the contracts of Tom McCarthy,Gary Matthews and Chris Wheeler. I would literally let out a whoop of joy!
Game chat: Phillies teetering on brink of elimination
Baseball's longest streak of consecutive playoff appearances, dating from 2007, could end tonight with a loss in Miami or Cardinals victory in St. Louis. Left-handers Cliff Lee (3.18, 6-8) and Mark Buehrle (13-13, 3.84) toe the slab beginning tonight at 7:10. The Phils field a line-up of elimina...
ow many times have we seen this same story by the Phillies offense? An offensive explosion (16 runs vs. the Mets) is followed by a 5 game drought.
Sunday chat: Doc epitomizes what went wrong in '12
Beerleaguer: The Phillies hit the wall in 2012, none harder than Roy Halladay. The tone of this video summarizes the season, and by extension, the state of the ballclub. This is why their division reign has ended and their playoff hopes essentially exited alongside Halladay in the second in...
The Beerleaguer standard of excellence as it applies to Howard,Utley,Rollins,Halliday,Hamels and Lee:
Hall of Fame level production all game, ...every game. Anything short of that you're not worth the money you're being paid.

At some point in time with Chooch back,Utley short-stroking the ball out of the park,Howard getting his stroke back. Halliday,Lee,Hamels and Kendricks blowing batters away.
Maybe it's time for Beerleaguers to revise that assessment of just how bad this team is.
Game chat: Phillies continue Wild Card fight tonight
Right-handers Tommy Hanson and Kyle Kendrick have the honors when the Phillies open a crucial home set with the Wild Card leading Braves. First pitch is 7:05. Beerleaguer: Time out to recognize Jimmy Rollins, who's been a September star and arguably the key reason why the Phils have stayed in...

Would someone please give me an insight into the brain of a professional Ball player who goes up to the plate with the bases loaded and supposedly says to himself "Hey I have a chance to drive in some meaningless runs" ?

Yee Ha ...the big piece!

I don't think I have ever seen a more blatant example of an umpire for all intents and purposes saying "Screw it he's out ...let's get outta here" as Randazzos call on Pierre. That should be a fineable or suspendable offense.I don't care if the game is out of reach..that's an offense to the integrity of the game.

BAP...you're like a broken record...oh, what just happened? It's 7-0...Jeez,how did that happen?

Listening to "The Sarge" on the pregame....this is all I could endure before turning him off " Now that the season is ending down and we can choose our friends(?)how do you feel about a season that started with such high expengtations? (sic) CLICK! How the hell do you have a job with one of the premier teams in baseball when you can't even speak English????

Another negative prognostication by B.A.P. based on...based on... well, based on nothing.Other than a generally negative viewpoint about seemingly everything.

"cannot fill a stadium"? How 'bout can't even fill half the lower tier?

If the Phillies are truly fighting until they are mathematically eliminated....Why the FVCK are we starting a rookie with 4 major league starts under his belt? If he implodes I hope Uncle Charlie gets skewered in the post game press conference!

Amazing....hopes springs eternal.Back from the brink with one swing!!!!!
Game chat: Playoff chase resumes tonight at Citi Field
Cole Hamels (15-6, 3.06) and rookie Matt Harvey (3-5, 2.92) are slated when the Phillies and Mets continue their rain-interrupted set tonight at 7:10. Beerleaguer: The Phillies' outside shot at a Wild Card has detracted from the original August and September intent of looking toward the future...

How the fvck many times are we going to relive this type of game. Only run (runs) we score come in the first inning.starting pitching gives up less than 3 runs and we trail going into the 9th while Uncle Charlie changes pitchers faster than a solo stripper changes panties in a 9 act show.

Now I get nervous.
Game chat: Phillies carry slim playoff hopes to NY
Cliff Lee (5-7, 3.36 ERA) tries for his fourth straight winning decision Monday against Cy Young hopeful R.A. Dickey (18-5, 2.68 ERA) and the New York Mets. First pitch is 7:05. The Phils trail the Cardinals by four games in the National League Wild Card race. [Jump to the newest comments]
"if this game follows the script for the 2012 season, a 3-run homer is coming right here."

@ 3:08 losing 3 of 4 to the Astros is a Fait Accompli...@ 3:25 the Phillies are up 4 to 2 with Doc Holliday methodically mowing down the Astro's hitters. When are the people on this board going to put away those cracked crystal balls?
Sunday chat: Narcoleptic Phillies fighting for survival
The Phillies will simply go to sleep on you, and are likely headed for an early slumber. Beerleaguer: So because the comatose Phillies couldn't muster an attack against Dallas Keuchel and the Astros Saturday night, in what might have been the worst loss of the season due to the sheer lethargy o...
Due to circumstances beyond my control I totally missed the game. I sign on and are faced with this. What a complete, total, gigantic FAIL!!!
Now yhe best we can do is split a series with the worst team in baseball??? FAIL...FAIL...FAIL!!!
Saturday chat: Phillies hand ball to second-half ace
Notes: Kyle Kendrick (9-10, 3.83) is pitching at the highest level of his career. The right-hander reaches for an unbelievable eighth consecutive quality start, as well the fourth double-digit win total of his career, when the Phillies continue their Wild Card push against left-hander Dallas K...
Harold Reynolds on MLB channel just said,in his opinion,if the Phillies make it into the playoffs they'll win it all. Whew...strong stuff!
Game chat: Phils need taste of Howard's former glory
We're keeping our eyes on an overtaxed bullpen and out-of-sorts clean-up hitter tonight as the Phillies' quest for the Wild Card continues in Houston. Notes: Ryan Howard won't be 100 percent healthy this season, but the Phillies could use a few vintage efforts from their clean-up hitter down t...

Game chat: Road to Wild Card goes through Houston
Tyler Cloyd (1-1, 4.24) and the Phillies bring their playoff hopes to Texas for the first of four with the lowly Astros. First pitch is 8:05 p.m. with right-hander Lucas Harell (10-9, 3.83) on the mound for Houston. Of note for the Phillies: Kevin Frandsen returns to third and bats seventh. The...
